I honestly would have been pretty upset with that. Luke was the main character from the OG's. I was scared they were just gonna do what they did with Han and Leia in 7 to Luke in 8. Han had no real development or journey, he was just a father figure for Rey, and same with Leia. No new development, just a side character with all the spot light on the new peeps. I was so glad he actually had development and an arc to go through. It made him an equal main character to the noobs and not just a wise mentor side character that Leia was in 7-9.

I love Mark so much. It's such a blissful feeling when you find out that the actor who plays your childhood hero is actually a very loving and genuine person as well. Growing up, Luke Skywalker was one of my all time favorite heroes. I wanted to be like him, someone with so much compassion and love. Now, as an adult, I look at Mark Hamill and just smile knowing he's continuing to be a hero, but not in Star Wars anymore, but in reality. He's always trying his best to make everyone happy and feel at easy. One of the rare times when you can say ''Yes, I do want to meet my hero''.

The Gray Owl No it wasn’t. You can’t have it both ways. The point of the movie is still Rey’s growth. Luke was treated as if episode 6 never happened. It’s fine if they kill Luke. Hell I don’t even care if they made Rey and Kylo stronger than him (it’s stupid, but I get it). They purposefully shit on what made Luke the greatest Jedi to have ever lived (has been called that) and “what Vader could never be”. The whole point of Luke is his ability to save anyone and everyone. And Kylo isn’t NEARLY as sunk as Vader was. The entire idea is so stupid it’s not only cringeworthy, but some of the most idiotic character misinterpretation ever

This is a character who, upon discovering that literally the 2nd most evil guy in the universe is his father, then went out of his way and risked his life just on the slim chance that he might be able to save him from the Dark Side. A father who he had legitimately never met or ever actually known. Meanwhile TLJ expects me to believe that same Luke sensed the Dark Side in his nephew, a boy he would have actually helped raise and is training to be a Jedi, that he would have actively tried to murder that kid in his bed? Anybody who defends the portrayal of Luke in TLJ is, of course, entitled to their opinion. But that opinion is unfortunately just ridiculous. Mark Hamill himself is on record multiple times saying that he genuinely doesn't recognize the character, that the person we see there is not the Luke Skywalker he knows.

@@Astraeus.. Luke has always been known to act on impulse. He lashed out in anger at the man you know he was trying to save. It was only until he disarmed him that he remembered what he was fighting for. Rian knows the community idolizes him. Deifies him. So too does everyone around him. Luke couldn't live up to all those expectations, and he damn well knows it!

It's such a pleasure to see how in love Mark is with star wars and his own character. A lot of actors become bitter towards their roles or movies. I doubt they'll use this exact one in ep 8 and 9. For one, its a piece of movie history so I'd rather it not get any more beat up than it it. Also the producers and behind the scenes folks have better tools to use. So as cool as it would be, I'd rather it be cared for for posterity.

Yeah but I reckon they may use that same lightsaber in terms of design, story significance, but a new replica for SW8 painstakingly recreated for the film. Spoiler alert I guess but Kylo Ren is holding this lightsaber in the Force Awakens trailer shot from rey's vision, they used a different shot in the final film but you can still pick it out if you look carefully so I reckon it comes into play for certain. i.imgur.com/kV8x5ZI.jpg

THE JOURNEY. It's a common fanasty trope in movies. The beginning scroll told us,"Luke Skywalker is missing." What happens at the end? They found him. It's meant to make us QUESTION Luke's intentions. WHY? Because even LUKE FUCKING STATED that he DOES express an interest or intention to TURN Luke EVIL. Which would make a bit of sense, Considering he failed Ben Solo, Luke probably had a long reflection to even understand if he had even chosen the correct path. I for one, WANT Luke to be evil. It would give the movies the same themes portrayed already. Good turned Evil. Imagine the greatest Jedi turned into the Greatest Sith. I believe Snoke is nothing more than a distraction to hide the true enemy.

Dante Luna because his first one was built professionally by Anakin who had had years of training and experience and then it was locked away for twenty years where as the Luke built was made from parts on tatooine which as we saw in phantom menace was sort of run down and not have the best parts available

Lucasfilm kept all of the props of the films in their vault at Skywalker Ranch. This guy must have gotten one of the copies but I doubt the hero prop. Well they have all the props but Han's original DL-44 which was lost after ANH production...LMAO.
