It's interesting to hear Mark say that Carrie always had that warped sense of humor even as a teenager. She was way more poised in her interviews from back then. Clearly someone was telling her back then to keep the off-color jokes to herself... ...And clearly at some point, she stopped listening to them. Thank the maker! :)
@wildcrocus4 жыл бұрын
Her mother went through the MGM star training machine so it is a pretty safe bet who was responsible for the filtered Carrie interviews. Considering she was a teen at the beginning. It was wholy appropriate.

@batman44527 жыл бұрын
One of my favorite people ever... Luke Skywalker was my childhood hero.. Luke, and Batman (born 1989)... Huge reason I love Batman is because of his Joker... I used to rush off the bus every single day after elementary school, kiss my mom, and run and pop on channel 5, because Batman was about to start... his Joker, like Luke captivated me so much.. I loved Jack Nicholson, but his Joker was just spot on, I don't think even on film, will there ever be (in my mind) a more definitive version, same with Kevin Conroys Batman, I also think writing, visuals, and many other things should be credited to why Batman TAS was so great, but I think most would agree that Conroy, and Hamill are key ingredients to why it was so amazing... I actually didn't find out it was Mark until much later.. I was shocked, the man is responsible for my love of my 2 favorite fictional heroes... Same with Star Wars, obviously George Lucas, the writers, the other directors, the sfx crew, the other actors, are all the credited for why Star Wars is so great, and his character... but to me the main reason I love Star Wars is Luke, Mark Hamill performance makes Star Wars I try to Imagine someone else playing the role I find it very hard to see it as being just as successful.. Kurt Russells audition for Han solo is on youtube, and if you ask me he would have been just as good as Harrison (not hating Harrison, he made the character so iconic).. I just can't see anyone else being Luke, having that same sense of depth, that truth, honesty in his eyes, that feeling that you truly believe he wants to do good, it shows that he's like that in real life, hence why it shows in his character Luke so much. You can tell he gave it his all.. Just really nice to see he's a stand up, genuine humble guy in real life... makes the character of Luke Skywalker even better.. Thank you Mark.. you were right, I saw the TLJ, you deserved more. That's not my Luke... not my Star Wars.

You know, a lot of people used to sell Mark Hamill a little short. For years he was considered something of a joke-- "yeah, he did Luke Skywalker a long time ago and now he does commercials as voice over actor..." But a lot of people didn't appreciate his talent, or the burden of being typecast, or its the long haul that defines a career, filled with up and down, high points and low. He's an intelligent, witty man, finally receiving some recognition and getting the respect that is due him. Good on him.

What I love about Mark is how real he clearly is - I think it may have to do with what he said - he came from a normal life. And even after he was a star, he didn't steal the spotlight his whole life; he simply held everything together with his roles, especially his voice acting. He seems like a pretty humble man, and you can see his humanity slipping out constantly. Every time he is on camera, he slips - whether it be physically, emotionally - you might say he always loses control in some way or other, but in a good way. Other celebrities often seem so fake because they've rehearsed themselves into a non-human, unrelatable box. But this imperfect guy bleeds real blood. You can just sense it every time you see him. He doesn't pretend... I like him more and more every time I watch him... I'd rather hang out with him than 10 others of the most polished, famous, celebrities; because I'd probably feel like I was with an actual person...

I laughed and cried watching this. Such a beautiful story of the relationship between Mark and Carrie. I still can’t believe she is no longer here.

Carrie Fisher was an enigma, an icon and an incredibly strong human. I am excited to see her last performance, in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

I cried when Mark read the tribute to Carrie from his notebook. It was beautiful. You can tell how much he loved her. Carrie was a beautiful person.

It's been four months, but I still get really sad when I think of Carrie's death. Watching Mark reminisce about their relationship and sharing what a vivacious, complex person she was just made me tear up again.

I had a really fun experience when I met Carrie. It was at Celebration in 2015. While waiting to meet her, my husband and I walked around the exhibit hall. One of the booths had Star Wars bandaids. We mentioned that we were going to see Carrie. They got excited and gave me a box of the bandaids. They asked me if I would be willing to get her to take a picture with it. Since I was getting an autograph, they wouldn't let me take a picture. So instead I asked her if she needed some bandaids. She said "I do!", holding up her index finger on her right hand. She used to put one on to save herself from getting a blister. I gave her the box, got my autograph and started to walk away. She called me back and asked if I wanted the old bandaid (it wasn't gross or anything). I said sure! She put her initials on it. I have it in a frame in my office!

Mark could make an entire self-biography that would become its own trilogy, have a prequel trilogy, and have a sequel trilogy as well

The wife and I were in attendance that day live and I can honestly say it was an emotional and truly beautiful Tribute to Carrie Fisher! One of two panels we attended all weekend the other was the 40th Anniversary panel! These were probably the 2 best panels of the entire Celebration by far! We will probably never attend another SWC after being there for this one they will all be a disappointment after this one in Orlando last year!

I just found this video and I am dumbfounded how anyone could give this a thumbs down when this is a wonderful tribute to Carrie/Leia. It's fine if you aren't a fan of the movies but, to me it's, disrespectful. I grew up with Star Wars. I remember walking to the theater in my hometown of 2500 in 1977 and giving a can of soup to help the local food bank and watched it. I have been hooked ever since. This was a touching tribute by Mark. To hear his still raw emotion reading what he said less than a week after Carrie passed got to me. She will be greatly missed. Then her mom passed the next day. Two iconic women of stage and screen. This was touching.

You can tell Mark is speaking from his heart here, he always is. He is such a real and genuine person, and he speaks everything we wish we could say to the world at such a high standard. And yet, Mark seems off, i know he is on his way to 70 but he seems like movement is a problem, when he sat down he grunted and wheezed, and when he walks around he seems to slightly struggle. Mark, when Carrie passed it hurt us all greatly, but if you pass, i don’t know what we’ll do. And yet, it has to happen someday, it does to everyone.
