After working for 45 years, I was ready to retire 10 years ago at age 65. I LOVE being retired and not having to worry about the responsibilities of a job. I fully support Harmon in his desire to retire and finally be able to spend time with his family. He's made enough money to last several lifetimes and, more importantly, he doesn't owe anything to the people who watched the show. He did his job faithfully and well. He was the leader of the show and now he's living out his life on his terms without having to go to production meetings and memorize lines. I can only say to Mark Harmon, WELL DONE.

Mark Harmon has done the right thing for himself and Pam. Acting has been such a big part of his life it wouldn't surprise me if he takes on another roll. I have heard that he is working on a television show with his son playing a younger version of Gibbs. Maybe he will be in a dream sequence or something. However I don't know if it's true or not. I continue to watch him in reruns of NCIS all-day Sundays on ION TV. God bless you Mark with whatever you do with your life ❤

I was deeply saddened by Mark's departure from "NCIS", as I always loved the way in which he portrayed his character, Gibbs. The cast is a family of brilliant actors, strong people who have to deal with Life on its terms and unspeakable trauma in the cases they must solve together. Of course, Life always has a way of throwing curve balls that knock us all off track and into unanticipated new directions. Whether scripted or in real life, we must deal with it. This series has been forced to accept the real losses of so many wonderful characters, both in real life and in the story lines. I love the ways in which those losses have opened the doors to new people, whom I love, to fill in the gaps created. The revised cast of "NCIS" have done great work in keeping me hooked on their quirky, smart and dynamic characters. The continuation of creative, brilliant writing is the thread that allows this series to keep its luster and magnetism for all of us who love tuning in every week. I still binge on the re-runs, though. It's as if I never saw some of them, but I know I have because I've recorded them every week! Thank you, Mark Harmon. You still are one of the sexiest men in Hollywood! I'd do you at least once!

Congrats to Mark Harmon, thanks for your quality acting and producing, and best wishes for happy times ahead! As for Gibbs as a character: if he had followed standard Marine retirement age parameters, he could have retired at age 56. Mark Harmon is 72. He is exceptionally handsome and youthful in mind and body, but still, there’s a 16 year gap between those ages. As an audience member, I’ve noticed over the years that movies and TV shows are not bound by any need to match actor ages with character ages, which in many ways is wonderful. Age should not be the main factor in determining whether an actor suits a part or not. But it is nevertheless a consideration. Also important, in my opinion-it’s better to depart a project on a high note, leaving the audience missing you and wanting more, than it is to risk overstaying one’s welcome. And if retirement means continuing to participate behind the scenes at a more peaceful level of engagement, that’s icing on the cake of life.💐

With all due respect to Pauley Perrette, she vocalised her thoughts when Cote de Pablo, decided to leave the show, which were not complimentary and it is very sad that the on screen interactions between Abbey and Gibbs came to an end, as indeed it is sad that Gibbs is no longer at the helm of NCIS, but all good things must end, eventually. Mark Harman, definitely deserves more family time and we all reach a point where work comes second and life takes presidence. Gary Cole, is an excellent replacement, not even closely trying to be Gibbs, just being his own role in the series and that is how it should be. He is very welcome addition to the cast and of course Mark Harman is missed, as indeed is the lovely David McCallum

I hated that Perette made such a public spectacle about the reason she left the show. True or not, it was clearly meant to demean Harmon and those of us that had watched faithfully since the beginning could have done without the messy details of what may have gone on behind the scenes. Abs and Gibbs' relationship was one of the best things about the show and she wrecked it. Now when I see those old scenes it just makes me sad.

I think Mark Harmon's departure from NCIS was extremely well deserved. If you don't agree, try to put yourself in his shoes. He has given 💯 to anything and everything that he has ever done. How many people have that special capability and dedication that has now spanned multiple decades. Would you continue to work to that degree until you just dropped dead?!! I was heartbroken when I learned he was no longer with the show, but I understood it was a long time coming. When was he supposed to start enjoying the fruits of his labor... quality time with his family, recreation, and whatever whenever. Some people are incessant takers, never tiring to take. I'm thrilled for him and any endeavors he chooses to immerse himself. Don't worry, fans, he's given himself the latitude to be seen in future episodes, but at his discretion. I think that is more than generous ❤.

Anyone could play Abby, but Perrette's pro alternative lifestyle (not the 'goth' Abby) clashed with Mark Harmon's solid Christian right stand. I was very lucky to be able to retire at 55, but after a few years I found myself dabbling in my old profession, taking on a few projects and working just enough to remind myself I had a lot to contribute. I was also pleasantly surprised at the number of old friends that asked me to come do a few projects for them too. Now that I'm pushing 70 I have returned to retirement with a greater appreciation of time to sit, think, and do those things I want to do rather than need to do. I think Harmon made a good decision although I think it would enjoy the occasional return to the screen just to remind himself of what he did for the show and for his fans .....

I wasn proud of him, his role was going to be missed but he has a life he wanted to get back too. I am happy he is with his wife and boys and living their together. Thank you Mark Harmon for your role as Jethro Gibbs.

Thank you! This whole presentation makes a lot more sense than all those trashy click bait tabloid scandal stories. There's always someone who wants to make a buck on lies and statements that hurt people.

I really miss Mark in the episode! It just is not the same!

I have always loved his acting, and I was hooked on Mork and Mindy as a kid, so I loved Pam and Robin from a young age as well. I believe he is genuine and respect his decision to go out on his own terms. I loved that they brought Pam in at the end, but I would have liked to see their character's end up in an old fishing cabin together. When I miss them, I just go to reruns.

Nobody can play the lead of NCIS like Mark Harmon as Leroy Jethro Gibbs!! Period!’ He made NCIS a huge success! Great casting as well! Michael Weatherly as Anthony DeNozo perfect!! Kate another perfect match along with Sean as Timmy Magee ! What a fabulous cast! Let’s not forget Abby!! Replacement as okay! Ziva did a good job replacing Kate. David MaCallum was wonderful!! Would love to have the regulars back. The current team is barely okay. Still love Sean but the team isn’t cohesive! You could see the closeness when Gibbs, DeNozo,Ziva or Kate were together with Sean. Great acting team!!! Miss them. I watch the old episodes! Mark Harmon is one of kind!! Please come back Mark/Jethro!!!

Well said, except tat Kasey is horrible. Her "acting" is so forced the i can't even watch the screen when she was on....bad...verry bad. I thin she has a relative there this is how she get the part 😉

I hated that he left the show. Harmon really made it come alive. But I do understand why.

I seem to recall Harmon early on being on Flamingo Road, too. But that wasn't mentioned,

I loved Mark Harmon but I can understand him wanting to 'do something else'. It's better to leave when your 'on top'. I think Gary Cole has some of the qualities of Mark that will make his place in this show, over time, to be just as endearing.

I no longer watch the show. Change is inevitable, but when the main characters leave, well it isn't the same series. Good luck to those that left the show.

Still watch all of NCIS shows; though I was very disappointed that Gibbs did not show for Ducky’s funeral. Glad Tony made a show.

You completely ignored the issue of Perrett using her own makeup rather than what the production wanted. That was clearly a major element in her departure snice she was hawking her own makeup.
