I don't think ya'll understand, this show was LEGENDARY in the hood for kids who didn't have cable and you wanted highlights from teams outside of your city. The only way to get em on the weekend was from Sports Machine and This Week In Baseball. Those, a newspaper and Sports Illustrated were your only connections to the world of sports.
@blakfloyd
@blakfloyd Ай бұрын
Exactly. Not even just a hood thing, just a too poor to afford cable thing in general. I watched this show a lot from '91-'93. Even though it was completely different from Sports Machine, another show I always think of is Roggin's Heroes. It was vaguely similar to Sports Machine cuz it was syndicated (as in it didn't have a specific network, it might be on NBC in one city or any other network in other cities depending on who bought the rights in each individual market) and it was also shown late at night on the weekends. Like right after SNL. It was a bloopers show and sometimes they had sports bloopers. Otherwise it was like America's Funniest Home Videos with random dumb funny shit with ppl failing at various stuff.

There was a big problem with steroid usage in the olympics at the time this was filmed and going back to the early 80’s. He was natural and proud of that and refused to take steroids to level the field with the others so it was a badge of honor and puts his accomplishments in better perspective when you realize everyone else was cheating to get their records.
