Waiting for this set to show up on Duncan's custom shop. Will be getting the set. Mark's tone has always been my favorite when it came to Periphery, and mainly I'm a bigger fan of his writing with Haunted Shores. I WAS looking into the Dimarzio Titan set, but as soon as this video popped up my mind changed completely. #patientlywaiting

Honestly, idk if I want this because I'll never make this sound as beautiful as the man himself. I think it sounds perfect only cause of the fact that it's him and not anyone else. Fucking awesome video though. Not saying this pick up is bad either I might have to hear this in person, but I'm just saying I could never match that shit yo he's a master at those riffs dude.

@CrazySuperJEBUS

CrazyBadCuber I think you're missing his point...
@crazybadcuber
@crazybadcuber 9 жыл бұрын
Matt James No, no I'm not. You're obviously missing my point. He's saying he doesn't know if he wants it, like he's thinking of buying it, but doesn't know if he will now because he couldn't perform it like a person in a video. That's a pretty fucking stupid reason not to buy something you want, because you're not as good as somebody else. That's called comparing yourself to somebody, instead of using the pickups to play your own stuff to be proud of. Why is that hard for you to understand?
@CrazySuperJEBUS
@CrazySuperJEBUS 9 жыл бұрын
I see where you're coming from and that's totally true. But basically what I assume he's saying is that he's hesitant to spend money on them because he's not sure if the qualities he's hearing are more from the pickups themselves or if they're mainly from Mark's distinct finger-tone. In that case he would be paying money for something that money can't buy, which could possibly end up being a potential waste of about $300.
@crazybadcuber
@crazybadcuber 9 жыл бұрын
Matt James If he thinks he won't get pickups because of the way a guy plays, then he's not even listening to the tone. Two different people can play the exact same rig and the tone is still the same dude. The playing is different, but the tone is the same. If he won't get pickups because of the way somebody else plays on them, he's a god damned idiot. Sorry.

I’m just realizing that the guys from Periphery have signature pickups with the big three companies. I like that there’s no bias in that department, in fact in my three 7 strings I have Dimarzio CL/LF, Bare Knuckle Aftermath, and Seymour Duncan Pegasus/Sentient =] gotta play the field.
@vomitoriumbassist
@vomitoriumbassist 9 жыл бұрын
How are you liking the pegasus/sentient pickups? Im looking to purchase some new pickups when i get the money.. And ive narrowed it down to the pegasus/sentient combo.. Crunchlab/liquifire.. Or perhaps a set of beard combers from fastback because ryan bruce stated they sound mighty close to a bareknuckle juggernaut.. I would just get those but i cant spend 300/400+ on pickups like that right now.. Ive heard some nice demos of the pegasus/sentient but i just thought id ask someone who has them if their awesome or not.. How are you liking them?

They also have Signature Guitars by three of the biggest guitar companies. Jackson Ibanez and PRS
@NightEmbers
@NightEmbers 9 жыл бұрын
vomitoriumbassist Yeah so for the type of music I play its progressive metal but we’re not super heavy so i wanted something not crazy hot so I went with the pegasus over the nazgul. The CL/LF also sound great I just use em based on the tonewoods so since those were developed for John Petrucci in a basswood body the dimarzios went into my basswood ibanez. And with SD making the custom slanted Pegasus/Sentient for the Strandberg Bodens which are Ash bodies I put those in my Ash guitar. In my opinion the SD are superior but they’re also more modern so they have the edge. As for Bare Knuckle they are expensive but I’d be lying to you if I said they weren't worth it. If you could find a used pair on music gear exchange that’s also an option. But with all that said my custom guitar, my number one has the Pegasus/Sentient in it and I don’t plan on swapping them any time soon.

Does anyone know if the pickup in the bridge position has that bassy sound to it too? I know in mishas review for the juggernauts he said that he specifically didnt want the notes to sound ice picky in the high range first second and third strings (because im sure a lot of us here hate that too), but marc didnt demonstrate that here with his pickups. its the ONE thing stopping me from choosing right now between the 2 but if anyone can tell me id HIGHLY appreciate it!
@anhedonia0
@anhedonia0 8 жыл бұрын
They don't sound ice picky in the high end at all, very full sounding and balanced bridge pickup. Personally I prefer marks set over mishas and jakes. Not saying that there bad or anything is just what I prefer for my style of playing and the tuning I'm in which is standard tuning.

It's pretty much the other way around. baritones allows you to use thinner strings for the lower tunings thanks to their scale length so you won't have thick strings to compensate the string tension.
