For me, Mark is one of the most respectfull guitarists of modern metal, he has so much technique and skills and he knows what he's talking about. It doesn't seem the guitar has anything to hide to him anymore. Great tone by the way.

Yeah, I'm a bit torn here. Mark's definitely my favorite Periphery guitarist, and Seymour Duncans are my favorite pickups, so you'd think I'd be in heaven here, but damn that custom shop price tag. $325 for a set of pickups? That's nuts. I see people saying things like the Juggernauts cost that much so it's no big deal, but let's be real here, that's not an actual justification for spending that much on pickups. A Nazgul/Pegasus and a Sentient or the Black Winter set is half the price, and there isn't really any quality difference there. Or hell, even Jake's DiMarzio Titans are half the price too, given that they're regular production models. Pickups like those are already a huge upgrade for most people, plus there other things in your signal chain that can be used to fiddle with your tone too. It just doesn't make sense to drop that much on pickups. I mean, they really do sound awesome in this video, but freaking Keith Merrow over here is a beast at audio, so I'm going to temper myself a little bit. I'm sure they actually do sound great in real life, and I'd love to support Mark and get these pickups, but I just can't do it. Congrats to Mark anyway though. Signature guitar and signature pickups. That's something guitarists dream about. That's awesome.

I just got my alpha/omega set and can tell you these pickups are very high quality and very great pickups. Everything mark describes about them is true they are super clear and tight, my fav about the set is how clean and clear they are even under loads of distortion. I would not hesitate to buy another set, defiantly gonna grab a 7-string set once those are released.

Aaron Queskekapow I don't doubt that they're good pickups. I just question spending that much on pickups. Especially when your usual pickup upgrade can be done for half the price. Again, huge fan of Mark here, but I'm just trying to be rational about this.

It's understandable man, I was on the fence about these as well especially when I could get something else from SD at about half the price. But none the less these are vocied very different from your standard sd pickups and sound fantastic.

I don't know if you have bought pickups now or not but I've got the titans and they clean up very well and I don't use a clean channel, that's just through rolling off the volume

David Lars I love Jake, but if I'm being honest, the Titans are a little too "thin" for my tastes. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're bad pickups or anything like that. The bridge Titan has a very tight and focused midrange, which is something I normally tend to like in pickups. One thing you have to remember though, is that his pickups are designed specifically in the context that they're being played in a band with two other guitars. In other words, they're designed not to take up the whole stage. This is very apparent in those DiMarzio videos he did with Petrucci. The Illuminators are much bigger/fuller sounding than Titans. Not that one is better than the other, they're just designed for different purposes. The Titans play very well in a mix if you're layering guitars, but if you're just jamming out in your bedroom by yourself, they wouldn't be my first choice. As for how any of this applies to the Alpha and Omega? I can't say. I haven't tried them yet. If Misha's pickups are any indication, then it says nothing about them at all, because the Juggernauts sound huge.

Hello Mark! Been a huge fan of yours for years sir. I actually have a question - I'm talking to a guy currently about buying a Mayones Setius 8 string w/ SD pickups, and he says that it was yours and that you owned it. Has white buckle rash by the neck, says you put it on there, dark brown, and Alpha/Omega pickups. He's an absolute great dude, and we've become friends. Just want to run it by you so you can give the stamp of approval that's all legit? I trust the guy but I wanted to hear your two cents. It's absolutely beautiful and will be purchasing it from him. Nicolas Rivera He probably also wanted it to be a more "available to the public" set that anyone can buy quite openly anywhere. PRS pickups sure can be bought per piece, but they're a bit harder to come by.

Nicolas Rivera I think the experience SD has with building custom pickups and possibly a more lucrative offer swayed him. Also, PRS does good pickups, but it would be odd for them to just sell pickups apart from the guitar. I feel like a deal with PRS would make people have to buy the guitar with the pickups installed instead of being able to buy them separately and put them in whatever guitar they like.
