I´ve great respect for Mark Hollis. He didn't want to be interviewed even after the journalists offered him money. Marc Hollis was a very good father and incorruptible. He did not succumb to the temptation to enter the music business. He had a backbone. He was evidently incorruptible and true to himself. That's what I admire about him. 2019 he passed away in silence

100% behind that he wasn't interested in the money he was a private man who was so into making the most wonderful songs and music, it was art , he knew what was important family he was that rare breed of human so humble and true. Bless him we lost a real genius when he passed, forever with us Mark always.

Have much respect for Mark also, he was a true musician, but I'm sure he was in no need of extra cash. The royalties off No doubt's version of "It's my life" alone, were probably enough to sail off into the sunset, plus the royalties from the talk talk catalog.
@pierrebarrauddelagerie11 ай бұрын
I'm reading the book about him and Talk talk "A perfect silence" and the part with the music business is a romantic legend. He was not at all detached from money and the record companies gave him a lot of money and financial freedom, more than ordinary groups. Mark Hollis was very difficult to deal with and complained a lot.

I can't believe he's gone. He did things his way and his talent superceded any band I know. That voice can't be duplicated. His mind so complicated yet so simple. Music was not a commercial money making machine to him. Music was plain and simple. Making records took years and his passion unlimited. Bravo mark. You are one of a kind always.

It's a really sad moment. But it's great to see how people like you and me still remember his art after being so much time out of the music industry. That's the kind of artist that only cares for his creatures. Not the magazine. Not the money. Not the ego. Just feelings. And that is the kind of person that Mark was. Forever Mark Hollis p.s: Thanks for your kind comments!

Just when I'd thought this other-worldly-gifted being could no longer shock me with his beauty and genius...this appears. Those of us blessed to have connected with him over these years feel his passing as a personal loss. DEEP sadness. However whilst we each live and breathe he remains with us and resurrects every time we become Present with his crafted, poetic, poignant art. Thank you again friend 🙏🏼💖

Over the years,ive lost many of by great heroes. Diego Maradona,Seve Ballesteros,Lowell George,Miles Davis,Mel Torme,but none of the affected me in quite the same way as when Mark left us. Spirit of Eden is my favourite album of all time. It was so melancholy,sad,brooding,raw,personal,as though Mark was talking to us. An absolute masterpiece. Ive cried all the way through it once or twice,my throat so choked up i could not speak. How can someone like Mark,whom ive never met ,do that to me. Laughing Stock and Mark Hollis i also adore. But when Mark passed it truly affected me badly and stll does to this day

How is it that you can have such feelings & emotions for a person that you've never met? Answer: music, and the way it becomes part of your life, past & present. By doing so, the singer/songwriter also becomes part of your life, and when they leave...you grieve for a lost friend. A close friend.

I still remember when Mark said : " if you feel some kind of a sadness in talk talk music, it's just because i can only write about things that hurted my sensibility in a way or another " . And so, i use to wonder what he would think about this foolish world we are living in now and what kind of a music treasure he could make with it ... just like he used to do before ..... Miss him so much even if i still feel him surrounding me everytime . I know i'm not the only one feeling this for some souls are always in touch .
