MeatEater

Күн бұрын

After an off-season full of hard work and a memorable October guiding his father to his first archery kill, it's finally time for Mark Kenyon to hunt the Back 40 himself. November is here and MeatEater contributor Tony Peterson is back in Michigan to join Mark for what should be an exciting rut hunt. So far the off-season improvements seem to be making a positive difference, but seven days during the rut will be the true test.
Will the property still be holding increased numbers of deer? Will all those big bucks that were hanging around in October be rutting on the Back 40 in November? Will the prescribed burns, food plots, planted trees, and spritzed trailcams do the trick for Kenyon?

That was a really nicely done episode, particularly from loosing the arrow until the end. Tells the entire story beautifully in images, the spoken words are almost ambient background sounds. Really, really excellent and compelling piece of storytelling.

As a non-hunter I always marvel at the love that Mark has for deer. He is quite literally an expert in deer. By making the back 40 he has made a happy and healthy habitat for so many things including deer. I think it is a strangely beautiful thing.

I killed 5 buck over the past 7 years in archery season (PA) 3 of them were on days with a peak temperature of over 70 degrees. All 5 buck were between November 3 and November 13th. 3 of them were on November 3rd.

What a stud for that place in Michigan. Now you might get that internship at Midwest whitetail! 😜! Seriously great buck and shot and great series for that matter. Heard most of this on the podcast and just now watching the hunt. Something tells me you might have secured access on the back 40 after the giveaway??? You did an amazing job with the place and I learned a lot! Thank you 🙏!

Double thumbs up from me. Marks reaction after the shot was priceless, and brought joy to see his hard work come to fruition in such an epic way. I'm a diehard fisherman with a heavy interest in hunting, but do not personally participate, and I think the Back 40 series may top Das Boat for me..
