I also wonder if Mark Kermode has seen any films by ANOTHER controversial (and late) Greek film director - Nikos Nikolaidis, including his ultra demented film noir dark parody "Singapore Sling" (1990) and several others, most if not all have NOT yet been released in the UK, AND IS IT ALSO POSSIBLE that Yorgos Lanthimos may have at least been partially INFLUENCED by him, for I believe, Nikolaidis is NOT an unknown film figure in Greece itself.

@@TheVolginator Track down some of Nikos Nikolaidis' other works including "Sweet Bunch" (1983), "Euridyce BA 2037" (1975), "See You In Hell My Darling!" (1999) and "The Zero Years" (2005) on this web site - nikosnikolaidis.com/biography/ P.S. I have read some of Yorgos Lanthimos' interviews, he DOES know Nikos Nikolaidis and HAS in fact seen some of his films, so it IS possible he may indeed have been influenced by him, and sadly Mr Nikolaidis has passed away in 2007 at the age of 67.
