Mark King mentioned in an interview that he and Ronnie had had a friendly rivalry since childhood, which explains why they play this match as a final rather than a first-round game (Last-32 stage).
After the match, one of the two will lead the head-to-head after 7 years of being tied.
The statistics shown in the video correspond to the date of the match.
Cesar Muroya created a unique editing technique to extract the essence of the game without losing the drama involved. Contextual information is also an innovation appreciated by viewers.
This format is not intended to substitute the full version but make snooker more accessible to new fans. The fluency and atmosphere of the game stay in a shorter-length video, allowing even experienced fans to enjoy snooker at any time.

I fouled once like that in 8 ball, no one saw it, it was so slight but I knew and continued, missed the next shot. It totally broke my concentration so you might as well just come clean with it.

Absolutely - I've watched TV coverage of golf where players have tried to deny a foul that they thought no one saw. People can say what they will but I agree that snooker is probably the game with the most integrity amongst the players (there are always a few exceptions in any game of course).
@stumble_leiner

@@78tag golf is also a sport where competing players help each other to find a lost ball (and if it's not found they would have an advantage). It's an incredible game for sportsmanship, well done to Mark King for owning up to it however we don't know how often it happens.

@@stumble_leiner Only players who are proper sportsmen do so, there are many times when an opponent makes no attempt to help. They are always the ones that sledge, cheat themselves and talk whilst the opponent is playing a shot. These are people that I don't ever play against again as their behavior is so disgusting.

I used to have a rival. He was better than me and I never could beat him, and he always tried hard to be sure I never won a frame, and it was only friendly practice. After all he had a reputation and didn't want me saying I beat him once. Bastard

Mark King is not the first player I've seen to call this type of unseen foul on himself. I think it's less of good sportsmanship and more that they like to win rather than the other player losing. Kind of like how they don't like winning as a result of a fluke or a lucky shot. They all like to win because they simply played better than their opponent.

Something that everyone should know and it e something that all snooker players know very well and it s that if you get a frame with "cheating" or not calling a foul when you did one , it will backfire and get back at you in some way , you can call this karma or whatever but from experience I am sure that these pros know this well
@wallstock
@wallstock 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not a believer of “karma”, but I get your point. If you carry on, knowing full well that you have fouled and you should have called it, that will stay on your mind. Your conscience will kick in and it will affect your concentration. Then, as you say, your game will suffer for it.

@@wallstock in a way you maybe true , but to say that your conscience will interfere with your concentration is an exaggeration , it s like saying that thiefs don t enjoy the money* they stole because they know it s illegal , they enjoy it , but in the end it will get back at them to maintain the balance , you know , you reap what you saw

Unless a lot was riding on it I would have feathered and made very small contact and called foul on myself if I was o’Sullivan and given back the cue since it was such small contact and him being honest about it which in my mind would have reset it back to correct as a payback for his honesty on a near zero fault I mean the ball didn’t move and the cue contact on the ball was literally just the ends of the hair fibers and it would not have sat well with me getting his tern for such a small infraction. Plus Ronnie is so damn good he dose not really need any more luck to fall his way in a match that he’s most likely the favored to win. That little truth could cost the game in the end and wouldn’t have made me feel real deserving of a foul if I were in o’Sullivans shoes.
