Mark sitting there playing the most basic of chords, yet still sounding amazing. He puts so much feeling into something so basic. He's so underrated when in my eyes he's up there in the top ten

Mark’s not underrated among guitarists. He’s admired by many including a lot of his fellow greats
@rhondawebb7985 Жыл бұрын
That is so true regarding how other guitar greats have great respect for him, but the music industry greatly underrated him. I was glad when he snubbed his nose when the R&R HOF FINALLY recognized DIre Straits after way too many years. His solo body of works is outstanding and he's probably my favorite living guitarist/songwriter. A musical genius/maestro is Sir Mark Knopfler@@nigeh5326
@Just-another-opinion6 ай бұрын
Well, If you dive deep into his techniques back in the days. Putting that all together, For me, he is the greastest. Timing is Spot on, the way he uses scales and the boxes for fills etc, making use a of (3 string) arppegios on those scales, chromaticis . The fingerpicking... it goes on and on. And as @nigeh5326 said. True, Prince was asked in in interview how it felt to be the greatest guitarist of all time? His answer: I don't know, go, ask Mark Knopfler.

I always believed that these aspects of the private life of musicians and other artists should remain private. But watching these videos I am getting to know aspects that somehow show the influence of what you gave to the public and fans. Brian's emotion in a previous video while Mark was singing clearly shows what I mean. Thank you for sharing all this with us.

My Dad’s from Ashington. I always try to go to Northumberland once a year to see my aunt and my cousins, and as a kid, we’d go up a couple of times a year to see them and my grandparents. It’s very different scenery wise to my home of Cannock, and I very much appreciate that Northumberland is a part of my life.

I often listen to Dire Straits here in Norway when I drive west to the fjords. And you come to Stad, the westernmost part of Norway. It may look like Scottish islands and the Orkneys. There is only moss and grass there because the wind makes it impossible for trees to grow tall.

The 1960's & 1970's England & Scotland polluted the world with extraordinary musical talent for the ages. History will eventually write the width and depth of the talent that came from all parts of Britain, and not just London. The Beatles notwithstanding.
