Excellent presentation. Highly informative. Great insight. I'm a PA. On a personal note-bill. nodulars felt on routine exam (confirmed on sonogram), FNA (multiple that were not painful-no anesthetic needed), s/p Bil Thyroidectomy, PATH-Follicular Variant Ca, now onto road for "what's next".

Excellent Presentation! Where can I get a copy of charts & presentation? Have you written a Thyroid book? Need to study the complex information. Have you done any research on the combo treatment of T3 & T4? Any clinical trial references for patients with symptoms even with Meds T4 or T3 only? Thanks a clear bright light in a confusing field!

Where does MALT lymphoma fit in? Mine was in the entire thyroid and had to have back to back thyroid lobectomies.

I came across a plastic specialist (before that I thought I have a sebaceous cyst) asked to do biopsy and talking about lymphoma without looking at the ultrasound result and patterns. Sadly it seems like he just want to make money from the process.

Maybe it's more efficient to try and minimize biopsies. Maybe it's cheaper and faster. But when you feel a golf ball in your own throat, you want a biopsy with dependable results. Ask 100% of the patients who had diagnostic surgery if they thought it was unnecessary. At least 3 of them were great full for it.

If you feel like one side of your neck at your thyroid as got more room in it than the other side like one side swollen the other side snot do I need to have it checked

@@judytaylor2650 I'm not qualified to give any advice. In my own personal opinion I would ask myself if it's something new. By me it started with my thyroid feeling a little larger than I remember it being. Then over a couple years my speech felt...well... dysfunctional. I started to have problems speaking. Almost as if I was partially paralyzed. I speak three languages fluently and was having problems with some odd phonetic sounds that I never had problems with before. I also started being hoarse alot, but without pain. Then over time it felt like pressure on my throat, especially when I sleep on my stomach. Then a lump appeared right below my Adams apple. I have started to get tingling in my right inner ear, but no ear infection. I have light tinnitus. And difficulty swallowing sometimes. I went to get it checked. I got referred to a thyroid specialist who did a nuclear scan. It turns out I have 3 large hot nodes. The lump is an abnormal cyst, but is encapsulated and has no vascularity. All good signs. My next check is 6 months later. The growth rate will be asessed and a doubling g rate will be calculated. If they are growing, I will most likely have my thyroid removed. They are hot nodes, but the blood work revealed they are not producing excess hormone. It's a double whammy, because even though they are causing an increase in tsh and causing me to always be Hungry as hell, my metabolism is normal because the nodes are not producing the excess T3 or T4. If the next test shows growth and no change in T3 or T4 it's pretty certain it's one of 3 types of cancer. Especially with my family history and own medical history. I won't get into details, but I spent a good amount of time around radioactivity as a young adult in the service, and did a lot of dumb shit as a kid requiring many visits to the ER for a head X-ray and Cranial CT scan. My military medical records got lost alot too and each time I had to get a full panograph dental X-Ray. On top of that, my father and one aunt died from endocrine cancer. My father from Mudular Renal cancer as well as B cell Lyphoma. My aunt from breast cancer. My other aunt had it but caught it early. With all that, I still have time aunts the prognosis even if I do have thyroid cancer, is very good. If you feel like something is really wrong, go see your doctor. Better to be told it's nothing than find out years later it's too late.
