I have had off-the-charts levels of cholesterol all my life, now 73 yrs old. I would never have been called lean, but have always been mesomorphic. Doctors have insisted that I take cholesterol lowering medications but have refused. They were sure I must have heart disease. I made a deal with my doctor: I would take a CAC test and if the results came back poor then I'd consider it. My CAC result was zero. My endochrinologist said "How do you do that?" As I've adopted Keto to combat the inflammatory effects of carbs, my cholesterols have risen, but I don't worry about it. The question I have is regarding the role of thyroid in all this. I have finally been diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and I suspect that I am a poor convertor of T4 to T3. Other readings I have done recount that in the 1940s they would note that high blood cholesterol was linked to thyroid disease. The medical system makes it very difficult to have a conversation with doctors about any of this, let alone get thorough testing. Just take these drugs. I'd love to see someone like yourself include investigation into the role of thyroid hormones in the lipid system.

Thyroid hormone production often decreases on a Carnivore ketogenic diet because (its believed) hormone sensitivety improves so much that less is required for the same effect. Therefore ,if you try a Carnivore diet, it may help your Hashimotos symtoms .I know its great for a variety of auto-immune conditions .I've been carnivore for about 18 months .

T2 diabetic here. Act like a hyperresponder even though I’m not metabolically healthy. My BMI is 22.7 (normal). I want to ask if Dave constantly registers ketones with low glucose?

In the questions section, Dr. Bikman talked about fasting… he talked about how it works because it reduces insulin. I can’t tell you how many times I see the CICO people says fasting works because it reduces the calories you eat.

Thank you. I enjoyed listening to this. As a metabolically healthy non-lean mass hyper-responder with a recent CTAC of zero, low carb for 2y 8m, I am very interested in the results of these studies.

I've been following a Keto diet for 5 years. I notice that when I'm in ketosis, my sleep is disrupted and I commonly wake at 3am with an inability to go back to sleep. Is this common?

Bio identical hormones for women? Your lecture is very male dominated. Many diet and lifestyle aspects in functional medicine are compromised for post menopausal women. Also, does allulose affect the microbiome?

Industry knows they're only addressing the symptoms and not the cause so willfully keeping people unhealthy, sending them down cul-de-sacs to their deaths when a few basic lifestyle changes can heal them in months!
