I was driving yesterday, my husband was rambling about absolutely nothing as normal, and then the radio station was "New music now by," of course I couldn't hear who it was because he doesn't shut up, so the music sounded really good, but had it at a low volume. Then the vocals started, and I heard Chester. My soul did first really, I got goosebumbs on my arms like I always do with his voice, but my head was saying no, that's not Chester. But everything else in my body said, yes. That's him. You know his voice anywhere. My husband was like what, when it turned it up, I threw up a hand and said shut up! My mind was raging a war within itself, I'm like that can't be him. He is gone. But I knew, I knew it was him. Then the vocals really started and my husband was like what, what is it? At this point I had accepted that it was Chester and I almost whispered, more to myself than talking to him, "That's Chester. Or someone who sounds just like him, damn like him. But no one sounds like him." At this point I'm crying like a bitch. My dream was when I hit 18 I would get to go see Linkin Park in concert, it'd be my first concert and the best thing in the world. I didn't get too. Then a few years later they were gonna be close enough, and I might actually make it, but sadly, that never came. I don't know why I mourn someone I never met or knew, but he helped me through dark times. I mourn him as if he were a dear friend.

Chester was an awesome dude, I literally grew up listening to their EP, then their first album Hybrid Theory; the rest was history. Ironically, Chester was a huge spokesperson that spoke out against suicide and self harm and drug/alcohol abuse, with some work within studying mental illness. Chester was an amazing individual and his lyrics literally pushed me through some of my darkest days of my life, I am so fortunate and happy I got to see him perform with Linkin Park and other artists in my lifetime. As sad and terrible it os to have lost him and how horrible it is that he took his own life, I hope he has found his peace and can rest easy now. I, and as well of hundreds of thousands of other, love you Chester and dearly miss you brother

This song brings tears to my eyes. I can’t even talk about it because It feels like my voice gets stuck in my throat. I miss Chester so much. I didn’t know him personally, but he helped me so much more than I ever really realized until I found out he committed suicide. I’ve never been hit so hard by a death since I found out my dad died. I grew up in a broken home and Linkin Park was one of those bands that just stuck. It was my first hard rock band. I’m now a huge metal head, at 28. I still remember receiving hybrid theory when I was 11 at a Christmas function. I still have the cd because I cherished it so much. The two albums after that were almost always in my CD player and I would listen to them almost all day sometimes, just to block out everything else going on around me. . I’ve suffered from depression as far back as I can remember and have always suffered through suicidal thoughts. I think it’s why I took his death so hard. Hearing him again is bittersweet. This song is so heavy and exactly how I remember Chester, at this prime. I know he never knew me but I hope he knows that because of his suicide, I fight harder. His pain bled through everything and it made people like me be able to acknowledge their own loneliness, pain and depression. Thank you.
