I'm not a fiddle man, but I am a musician. Go Mr. Gimble. Man oh Man, that man can handle that fiddle. He stepped up to the mic and controlled it, not the other way around. A fan forever Mr Johnny Gimble
@AVToth2 жыл бұрын
Years ago my husband and I went to Floore's in Helotes Texas to see (dance) Ray Price. Mr. Gimble was playing with Price. They did "Maiden's Prayer", 4 fiddles, to this day I get goose bumps thinking about it. I've always liked that song but this was so good I danced with tears rolling down. Something about a perfect sound, regardless of the genre, when it's perfect it flips a switch in my brain. Johnny Gimble is great on any recording but live, I look like my dog died even though I'm in heaven.

As a fiddle player myself, here's how I rank them: 1) Johnny Gimble - easily the best of them all. Bounces the bow and creative variation 2) Vasser - Lots of sweet slurs with strong bow accents 3) Charlie Daniels - Like his bowing style although he's not super polished. Nice little variation 4) Mark O'connor - Puts too many grace notes in for my taste. Skill just for skill's sake. 5) Buddy Speicher - Pretty much straight up playing. 6) Shorty - Did not sound tight. Perhaps its the band or the drums or he is used to being accompanied by "boom chuck" contest guitarists. 7) The purple guy

This is very close to the ornamentation I have imagined for YEARS on A.T...... only I include far more classical styling ornaments..... hopefully I can get to practice more. What a shame there is so much anti-classical prejudice in “fiddle playing”. No vibrato etc. No wonder there is so much violence today in America.... you guys are too damn rough
