Six man rotation is a great idea. I get what he says about depth, but that is something that can be addressed with MLB rule making regarding roster construction. If MLB is serious about reducing pitcher injuries. Allow bigger rosters but only expand how many pitchers a team is able to carry not position players. Teams could carry a veteran starter as a swing man and spot starter to bridge injury gaps or day off gaps.

You took the words right out of my mouth. But... while I completely understand it is probably far more complicated than it seems and I do most of the problems they face, Prior has to realize he has presided over the most injury-riddled pitching staff for the last couple of years, maybe in major league history. There is a systemic problem and everyone seems to think a 6 man Rotation is the solution so he keeps coming up with excuses and it's kind of annoying.

Ohtani is half the answer. Dalton Rushing is the other half. He's a back up catcher who can play outfield and DH. Plus he's your future catcher. Should have cut Barnes loose and the 6 man rotation would be perfect.

The pitching game is so competitive in the minors that many pitchers already have damage before they get to the majors. Heck, Buehler had his first Tommy John out of high school. Change really has to happen with the Little League coaches and on up.

I feel there should be studied a relationship of the pitch clock causing more injuries! Pitchers are working faster and harder! Do they need more conditioning? More time between pitches? What needs to be done?

Or maybe it’s the fact that they all throw 105 mph these days
@williamarcamo758814 күн бұрын
One thing that really hard for the pitchers now a days is the gadgets like iPods in the dugout. Constantly checking pitches thrown. That’s why the pitchers are trying so hard. iPods and speed guns shouldn’t be allowed anymore. To be fair for the pitchers. Maddox for example, he can throw 70s to 80s something per hour and he can dominate the game. Now a days, I don’t think so.
@williamarcamo758813 күн бұрын
Yes! The clock count for the pitchers is not a good idea. To me, whoever has a good relievers this season I think they have a chance to be in a playoff, win the playoffs and even winning the WS. Why because for the last two season, it works for teams like the dbacks and the Dodgers. Unfortunately, the Dbacks lost to the Rangers in the WS.
@jasonleetaiwan2 ай бұрын
A 6 man rotation is best. You pitch once a week if the team has one day off. It’s simple. Manfred needs to grant one more roster spot to make it easier on teams. The schedule is messed up causing teams to sometimes play like 13 games in a row. This requires more roster spots to protect the pitchers.

NPB starters pitch once a week, throwing 100 to 120 pitches. They pitch 7 to 8 innings, which reduces the number of bullpen appearances.

Not sure what this guy is ranting about related to prior year. The key for 2025 is Ohtani. He’s the 6th man wild card guy. The Dodgers can still carry 13 pitchers where 5 are starters or even 6 and then have 8 or 7 relievers. This doesn’t even include Ohtani. Ohtani shouldn’t be considered part of the 5 man starting pitching rotation during the regular season. Example. Reg season: 1. Glasnow 2. Yamamoto 3. Gonsolin 4. Knack 5. Wrobleski 6. Ohtani We can still have 8 relievers. 1. Treinen 2. Phillips 3. Graterol 4. May 5. Banda 6. Vesia 7. Casparious 8. Honeywell Bueller, Roki Sasaki, Bobby Miller, Emmit Sheehan, Kershaw, Nick Frasso, Kyle Hurt, Michael Grove can be brought in off the IL at any time. There is still room for Max Fried too.

I think the problem is that once he’s in as a reliever, he can no longer DH in the game. The “ohtani rule” only included starting pitchers who were also DHing (which is only ohtani currently). I mean he can come in as the closer I guess but then you lose him as a DH if his spot in the lineup comes back up in the ninth or if the game goes to extra innings.

Id like to see stuff changed that will not make our pitchers get injured every time they pitch. Maybe change their mechanics so they arent blowing their elbows or forearms out and rely more on location for these injury prone pitchers. I mean you can just let them go for 20 starts like they have been doing their entire career but that wont help the team in the postseason. Dodgers aint winningany more world series with 2 somewhat healthy starters and contonously trading for rentals at the deadline. Just wont work out every year .

Why not a ten man rotation? Each man goes three innings each. Number one goes game one pitches innings 1-3, second man goes 4-6, third man goes 7-9, fourth man goes 10-12 or starts second game. Just rotate every three innings. Nobody can complain about too many pitches, overwork. As things go into extra innings everyone should get a start and close and do some middle relief. This way we end those god awful “bullpen” games.

They throw 30 high intensity pitches anyway, so why shold you not use those pitches in a game ? & Man rotation but 6 additional days with one additional reliever ? That should be working great, thats like two extra relievers.
