Yep, and while no one gets it right 100% of the time, Mark is honest and right more times than not. He completely nails why Russ failed in Denver. It was baffling how bad Russ was at small tasks rookie QB's don't even struggle with. I'll take bad Russell Wilson QB play that still puts up 25+ TD's and single digit picks over the absolutely atrocious QB play we've had in Pittsburgh over the last few years. People saying the numbers don't tell the story when it comes to Wilson have clearly not seen Kenny Picket or Mitch Trubisky. There is no comparison. RW might not be an elite QB anymore, but he his a clear upgrade over what we've had since Ben retired and we're paying him next to nothing.

Bingo, The 50 point blowout by Miami Russ was in the entire game. Including the 4th quarter when the Broncos were down 30+ points, why keep him in? When you look at the game stats you see 300 yards and 2 TDs. Russ did his part and the defense did nothing, no the other team was playing prevent since the 2nd quarter. The game was over by half and the Dolphins were running out the clock.

All the people who thought russ had a good year based on the stats just didnt watch bronco games. The offense was hard to watch. Absolutely zero rythm. Love your show, Rich, but how you can say there will be a “QB competition” in Pittsburgh during the preseason between Pickett & Russ is unbelievable. Tomlin, indeed, may have TOLD Russ that he will have to compete with Kenny Pickett during the team’s preseason practices and preseason games. However, there’s no way Russ would agree to be a backup QB on ANY team in ‘24. So unless he is injured or gets busted and, subsequently, suspended for using a banned substance, I’m almost positive Russ will be the Week #1 starter for the Steelers. Heck, Russ still feels he had a respectable season in ‘23, beating the Bills (in Buffalo), the Browns, & the Chiefs, who have completely owned the Broncos since 2018. Also, Russ threw for 26 TDs and only 8 INTs. Pickett, in his 26 games played in a Steelers’ uniform, has only thrown for 13 TDs and a whopping 13 INTs. There’s no comparison. You have to make Russ your QB-1. Especially with Steelers’ fans chomping at the bit to see how Russ will perform as the newly acquired Steeler, as I think Steelers’ fans are fed up with Pickett’s ineffectiveness, as well as Front Office’s inability to draft a solid QB, and their unwillingness to be aggressive in free agency and spend some money on a proven QB with “a decent track record” (such as Kirk Cousins).

I am SO sick of the always-blaming-Russell business. Pete+LoB was losing before Russ got there. They held him back for years, then relying on him to save their asses in the 4th quarter. Fans are always looking at the box score and not actually watching the game. If you did Russ, was horrible last year. Game after game having 100 total yards for 2 1/2 quarters or more each game. Then he has three passes that gets him his TD or two and 100ish yards. Now he gets to his 200 yards a game he throws a game. It doesn't look bad (box score) but my Lord it's not. Russ can run 10 plays. He ran 10 plays in Seattle. He won in Seattle because for the most part for most of his career there the defense was good to great. Payton wants to call an offense. With Russ you can't. It's why Seattle tried to change the offense, but it always got watered bad down to those 10 plays Russ can run.
