I'm 54, life long Snooker fan. Love the game...not very good (47 highest break, 75 on my little table). This little chat is brilliant - so honest and open. Ronnie the GOAT and Selby - absolute granite on the table and the only player that really threatens an on form Ronnie, I feel. And Alan, also a very good, respected pro. All talking honestly about the tough mental side of the game. The presenter is great at making the players feel relaxed enough to open up also. The irony is, although O'Sullivan and Selby's playing styles are quite different, they are actually very similar mentally. Great interview.

Probably one of the most interesting, thought provoking and important discussions in Snooker ever. Hopefully the authorities are listening, this isn’t just a watershed moment in post match analysis but for Snooker as a sport. Additionally much has been said on O’Sullivan and Selby’s rivalry, but you can tell they have the upmost respect for eachother. On the table they are two of the most competitive beasts to ever grace the game, although their playstyles don’t suit one another and it sometimes boils over on the table. However, you can tell their respect for eachother off the table. This discussion was absolutely mesmerising, and kudos to Radzi and Alan, just letting them chat it out without interruptions. Eurosport really is the gold standard for in-depth Snooker coverage and analysis.

With the number of tournaments, and tv coverage, and international travel, the pressures on these sportsmen is quite incredible; they are constantly under the gaze of the viewing public, either at the table performing under immense pressure, or, sitting in a chair - contemplating...under the gimlet eye of the camera. Perhaps the sporting body, broadcasters, and/or sponsors can chip in and get something started...to benefit the players who might well be suffering in silence, like so many before them. Well done, chaps! Your openness and frankness about these issues is a great starting point...and, obviously, it's an idea whose time has finally arrived! Good luck with it all. GGs

@@andyb355yes and if you’ve played serious league snooker like I have for years to a decent standard, snooker is very mentally tough and can do your head in at the worst of times and can trigger other issues, so at this pro level I can’t imagine what it’s like. Amazing discussion. I used to race in Formula Ford UK when I was younger, and even though it was "amateur" I still felt immense pressure to not make a fool of myself, I was more bothered coming in at the end to say "yeah I left nothing on the table", even my best result was tainted because I'd thrown away a podium. It was made worse that not only is it a solo performance but you have (in my case two) team mate(s) who have everything that you have (well - they had rich parents and new parts on tap) and you worry what if everyone is judging you on their performance as well as yours. I used to call motorsports my safe-space as the helmet was on and I was in my zone, but by the end I was second guessing myself. Eventually I just ran out of money - so at least that ended that and I live a happy life now as an engineer.
