Mark Stewart had such a crazy cackle. I love how playful they are/were. RIP Mark. I feel very fortunate to have been able to see them at a small club in 2014; never thought I’d see The Pop Group live. They were a massive influence on my old band and we covered “Trap” on our third record.

Go-Go-Go Airheart? You guys were fantastic. Saw you in Atlanta '02 - definitely one of the best of the "post-punk revival", imo

@@MarsHottentot Wow. Thank you. You probably saw us at the Earl and ‘01/‘02 was a great time to have seen us live.

@@bennyshambles wracking my brain, once was at a the now shuttered MJQ - with Love Life? I was probably at an Earl gig, too, I went to (and still go to) a lot of gigs there. Anyway, EXITTHEUXA was in regular rotation that year!

Dear mr sager, from my oersoective The Pop Group weren't below the radar but strode colossus-like over everything; for example, the 'we are all prostitutes' tee shirt is a sigil for the big egg

Gareth Sager would have been interesting to listen to, but keeps getting upstaged by the increasingly demonic looking & rambling Mark 'Templar' Stewart. You'd think at his age he'd have learn't to control his compulsive narcissism & urge for regurgitating the same old stories from the past. Still, the brilliance of his voice/performance on that 1st lp is great enough to provoke empathy for his plight... he only ever really wanted to be a pop star, all this avant garde posturing (in a retro style! ahem) is mere window dressing! BTW- reading between the lines of his statements ( in a cab with Burroughs ... mates of Kenneth Anger) & watching his gurny-face in slow motion ... he looks 'super camp' & sounds like he was some kind of art-world rent-boy !!!
