After sitting out since February 21st with a lacerated spleen, Mark Stone will in the lineup tonight for the Vegas Golden Knights as they take on the Dallas Stars in Game 1 of their Stanley Cup Playoff series.

Totally agree, so astonishing it happened at the exact time they needed him…miraculous!!! I bet it was the Vegas betting odds that healed him at the right time.

He was the only player on ltir. Everyone else was listed as day to day or out meaning they could return anytime. Do you even do research before crying about things your making up.

Great video. I was skeptical at first since it seemed like another "complaint video", but it's actually much the opposite. Might be worth noting also that last year, Mark Stone was put on LTIR about 2 weeks after getting surgery, as he had been injured more than a month before the deadline.

Thank you for explaining this! Another point that needs to be highlighted is that there is a cost associated with Vegas loading up at the trade deadline. Other GM's absolutely can do the same thing but seem unwilling to give up draft capital like Vegas. So they whine instead. Maybe this strategy will come back to haunt Vegas, and they will miss the playoffs for the next decade. It's a risk, is my point. And other GM's can choose to do the same, but most seem unwilling to take that risk.

I would suggest that the cap limit should apply to the playoffs BUT only for the team on the ice, not for the full roster as it is in the regular season.

Its important to note, Vegas lineup as of this morning is actually over the cap now. He had Dorofeyev, league min of 800k+, on the 3rd line, while they are actually icing Mantha in that spot (he was just resting), who has a hit of over 2 mil.

Saw Mark Stone play and he doesn't look like 100%, he is maybe 80%, he can play but I don't think he will get alot of minutes. Mark Stone at 80% is still better than a lot of players at 100%. If they want to stop the LTIR loophole, the CBA is coming and the owners have to agree to the law.

In 2022 Mark Stone went out and they did NOT acquire people with cap shenanigans. They tried to trade away Dadonov and it got reversed.

Vegas almost didn’t make the playoffs this year because they didn’t have Stone and others during the regular season. So that was planned? Possibly missing the playoffs on purpose? For more than half a year the Knights had to play 5-6 AHL players every game because of injuries. As far as Stone practicing before the playoffs in a no contact jersey, a player must practice prior to the playoffs in order to be eligible to play playoff games.

Just because Stone is playing doesn't mean he's 100%. Ya'll act like he went out game 1 of the regular season and rested all year only to show up for game one of the playoffs.

@@ingetout1. It’s not cheating it’s within the rules 2. Get mad at all of the teams using this exploit not just one team cuz they won last year. 3. If you’re team isn’t utilizing every rule and regulation to their advantage be mad that they aren’t trying hard enough not that other teams are trying harder. (Also should the rule be changed probably but you can’t call Vegas or any other team doing this cheaters because factually they haven’t done one thing to break any rules set out by the nhl). Tired of Vegas getting hate for using the rules to their advantage and being the only team out of multiple that gets shit for it when other teams do the same shit.

Vegas fan here, Stone is a great player. Dallas is a solid team so I expect a good series and they are the top team in the West so we'll have a tough road ahead. Go Knights Go!

No one serious is saying it's cheating, or Stone is faking, or even that it's only one team doing it. No one is saying it's not within the rules. We're saying this system is goofy because injuries provide an opportunity to circumvent the spirit of the cap during the time in which it counts most.

That is perfectly reasonable and I agree. Just don’t get why people get mad at the team and not the league for allowing Vegas AND OTHER TEAMS for doing this. The anger is justified but direct it in the right place and maybe something will change instead people just like to get mad at Vegas hoping they stop doing everything within the rules to win.

@@rickbick2206 I agree that it's half-irrational...but the timing just makes the team and the league look bad. It would look bad if it were +/- 5 games, but it's literally game 1 of playoffs. Clearly it's too easy to take advantage of the situation, and clearly the league oversight still allows for some intentional circumvention.

@@pyRoy6 100% the rule needs to change but while it’s in place it’s hard to blame Vegas or any other team for doing everything they are allowed to to win. Hopefully bettman sees the outrage from fans and does something but knowing him we’ll prob have to wait until 2026 when the rule can be changed normally.

Anyone crying about Vegas simply doesn’t want to look at the facts of the situation and is just mad Vegas won last year and their team didn’t. Do your homework and get your facts straight otherwise you end up looking like a whiny baby crying over things your making up in your head.
