Mark you have restored my faith in electric guitar. I'm 45 and grew up on Iommi, Rhoads, Schenker, and Lynch. Alter Bridge is my all time favorite band and you have become my all time favorite player. Its been 20 years since I've been this inspired, this focused. Thank you.

@weightofregret tune both E strings down to D, the G string up to A, and the B string up to D. the D and A strings get left as they are.

so musically+melodically, mark wrote the verse+bridge+solo and myles wrote the chorus. yearght!!! its kind of lennon/maccartney thing back in the days

Well Myles doesn't always do the choruses and Mark doesn't always do the verses. It swaps around a lot between the two of them. Personally they are one of my favourite songwriting duos of all-time, simply for the fact that just about every song (not including those from One Day Remains) has parts written by Mark and parts written by Myles. They are both equal contributors and it's an amazing harmony between two very different styles of guitar playing. For example, in Bleed It Dry, Myles wrote the verse riff and the bridge, and Mark wrote the intro riff (which is also used for the chorus) and the solo. But then on another song, like Blackbird, Mark wrote the verse, Myles wrote the chorus, and they both contributed toward the bridge and the solo. Ah. I love this band so freaking much. haha

cdnt agree more elliot ;) i said that particularly towards the Ghost song only. lennon/mccartney also does the same on combining each-others-vise/versa parts in. At the same time, while listening to each songs, we will keep wondering and predicting who wrote this part and what not. It is so addicting haha.

Haha yeah I do that with all the AB songs as well! But I ordered the Fortress Sound and the Story DVD off Amazon so hopefully when that arrives it will help me figure out who wrote what!

tune your guitar like this, from low to high: D A D A D D (the last two high notes are Identical D note pitches) then to play this song, just take that tuning about and lower it all ONE-HALF step and there you have it!

Actually the main contributing factor to his tone in this tutorial is not the guitar but the amp which is a Bogner Shiva combo w/a little delay in the loop...great, great amp!

Tuning is open C#5, that is... C# G# C# G# C# C#. If this tuning looks confusing to you, it is basically open D5 tuning, but down a half step.
