@Aaron Valure Tremonti's delay is the G-Lab SD-1 Smooth Delay. He almost won’t play guitar without that thing. It’s in his stage rig and he has a stockpile at home, seriously!

Watching Mark Tremonti grow as a musician from the first Greed album to today is a inspiring story of success. Very impressive. He gets better technically with each album and he stays clean and never gets in trouble yet he rocks hardcore. He didn’t need gimmicks or theatrics to succeed just humility, focus and great work ethics. I’m glad he’s endorsed by PRS. I can’t say it enough, I owned that guitar and it was superior in every way to every brand of guitar I ever laid my hands on. I bought that amp because his guitar was so great and that little MT15 is a beast. Its has proven perfect for every application. The guy has great taste for design. I understand this interview has to be about the gear but I would love to see someone interview this guy in depth on his practice routines such as Technique, phrasing, target notes, knowledge of theory, etc...

Music & More I would 100% recommend doing Mark’s guitar clinic. He does them anytime time either Alter Bridge or Tremonti are on tour and he does them at every venue. Check out the Fret 12 website when they announce a tour and you can purchase the clinic from there. It does cost about $150 but it really is worth it. You get a guitar lesson for about an hour or so where he goes over technique, practise routines, songwriting, different tunings and styles, then he takes you into the stage and shows you his amps and set up. I can honestly say the guy on one of the most lovely, down to earth, ego-free person I have ever met. He’s happy to talk gear and guitars and pretty much anything you want to discuss with him. A word of advice, if you ever do the clinic, try and do it at a Tremonti show rather than Alter Bridge. There tends to be less people at the Tremonti clinic, obviously as it’s a smaller band. To put it in perspective, I did one at Alter Bridge and there was about 15 or 16 others, I did another at a Tremonti show and there was 4 of us, yes 4! It was awesome just hanging out with Mark with only 3 other people and I felt I got more out of it in the smaller group. Anyway, definitely try and do it if you can.

That is how I've experienced Mark and where he is today as a player and songwriter. Better and better every album and you can really hear and feel his growth. No ignorant or bad stuff do you hear of him doing or being. Humble, family man, monster rocker, and seems a genuinely good person. Major work ethic and works so hard for all his growth and gains. No fake in this guy. He has become my favorite musician overall.

Amazing hearing all he ever uses with the MT15 pedal wise is a delay in the effects loop. That is all I use on mine also. The MT15 needs nothing else as it sounds killer from 80’s soft rock all the way to Metal. Love mine and can’t wait for the 100 watt version.

Mark is such a cool guy and I very much enjoy watching his interviews but man... they always ask him the same things, over and over. I've seen like 8 interviews where he says exactly this, telling his past experiences with PRS guitars and amps. I wonder if he ever gets tired of repeating the same thing over and over. If you're gonna interview Mark Tremonti, ask something new, this is already all over youtube.

That amp has 400 bucks of tubes in it at least if you had to replace them all at once - probably closer to 600 bucks if you can't get the upgrade/replacements as sets and have to go singles...I have no idea how other amps that shall not be named can START at almost twice the cost of the MT-15 and yeah, when I upgrade I'll probably get some form of a PRS 7/bari (The AX7521 Terror Twins are already kind of short scale, it's nice to stretch out) and the MT-15 together. They just work without a bunch of extra shit. That's worth the upgrade cost anyhow. It's like when a guitar comes fairly close to being set up and close to being in tune out of the box. Even if I have to adjust the truss rod a little, if there's no additional finish work and the strings are fresh then we can just play...it makes a difference, to me.

I could be wrong but I believe the Russian tubes that he’s referring to are 5881s. They are the equivalent of 6L6 but I kinda like them better in certain amps
@williamking86844 жыл бұрын
6p3s is what it is. True 5881s haven't been made in forever, even the JJ's. Also this tube compresses better than a 6l6gc so they tend to sound better in high saturation amps like rectos and the mt15
@ericbrewerguitar14994 жыл бұрын
William King my tech had a big enough stock of Sovtek 5881s to last through the apocalypse lol, he retired a few years ago though so I had to have 6L6gc installed. It sounded quite close but it was more harsh and bite-y on lead tones (when pushing the amp with OD pedals.) I wish I could get those 5881s again. I’ll have to research the 6p3s but those are prob tough to acquire too

Even though you can do whatever your ears like with pedals, but normally the effect chain goes something like this: compressor - overdrive - distortion/fuzz - modulation - delay - reverb. This is pretty much the standard chain.
