Hazard warning lights switch replacement. Volvo S40 / V40

Dude, you are a life saver! Even if this is a rather old video, it was exactly what I needed. The lower panel hides screws & without knowing how to remove it, it could have been so easy to break the plastic clips that are holding said panel in place. My hazard switch short-circuited in a way that stopped all blinkers from working, had to change the switch & now everything works perfectly.

Nicely done! On my 03 S40, the hazard switch got flakey and started causing the turn signal lever to actuate the hazard lights! Messing with the hazard switch would fix it, but finally, the hazard switch made a faint "electrical short" noise and the turn signals quit working altogether. I've ordered a new hazard switch. Thanks for the straight forward video!

thanks for this excellent demonstration - The symptoms on my v40 were that the warning indicator was flashing but seat belt warning and indicators were not working - I replaced the flasher unit in the foot well - and this WAS NOT the problem - more likely to be the hazard warning light switch - as in this video - hope this helps someone else too. Thanks

That was a great help, thanks. On my V40 2003 the (smaller) knobs stay in place when the panel is removed.

Should there be an indication light behind the hazard switch? When driving in the dark the switch isn't visible and the knobs for the ventilation aren't visible either.

What about the very right knob? Does that one has the light in your case? We just bought old V40 (y. 2000). The left and central fan knobs have no light. However, the very right one has. Hazards lights switch does not have lights on it as well.. I just wander if these left and central knobs meant to have the light at all.. The same with hazard lights switch.. Driving in the dark does not feel good as changing anything is difficult enough.. Maybe the same year v40 and v70 are somehow different on this topic..

i have problem with all my lights on the volvo 850 1996. When i turn on the headlights, i cannot use the signal blinkers, if do , all the lights on the car will keep on flashing on- and off like police lights, And if i turn off the headlight switch. the directional blinkers will not come on at all.
