The updated sensor and new touch screen menu were two things that were needed to make an already great camera an even better one. It's just not worth the upgrade for me personally. I love my mark 1, but the a6700 or ZV-E1 is looking like better options for me.
@qq_025 ай бұрын
Bingo. The main upgrade seems to be 10-bit colour, which is nice, but... not worth upgrading. It is a good first camera, like the E10 Mark 1, but there is no significant difference between them. That is probably why they did a price bump and selling them both instead of substituting the old model. Now, if it had IBIS, the 999 price point upgrade would be well worth it.

@@tdavis7396 these were my sediments. 95% of content creators don't color grade. If I did, I would just buy some Luts for like $10-15 from popular youtubers. I mean besides photography professionals, who really notices a difference between 8 bit and 10? My point, the main selling point on this camera for color grading, most won't need it. Now Ibis yes, a built in ND filter yes. The sony zv-1 has a built in ND filter and it's price is like $650. I believe if they just finished the Mark 1 Ev-10 with Ibis, and that ND filter, or in place of the ND filter, have a mechanical shutter, it would have been worth the price and if they had all that and had it at like $950, it would be hands down the best entry level ,"Pro", camera. Really it's just lowering the price point by $100 and adding IBIS and keeping the mechanical shutter. Not that hard I wouldn't think. Or I could be wrong lol.

Definitely keeping ZVE10. The trade offs are not worth it (for me). I prefer having the nicer setup for photography. It makes it more versatile. If I truly need more, then I’ll get something much more capable than the ZVE102. Now Mark…it’s almost a given that you’d buy the ZVE102 since many people will be curious about it, so it allows you to make more content, whether it was or wasn’t a good camera. I can’t imagine any influencer not getting one (same reason I noted above, nor not recommending and selling via links, because it’s not a bad camera…it’s just that the ZVE10 really is more than enough compared to the ZVE102).

Sorry, but this camera is an insult to Sony users. -No IBIS. In a "vlogging camera" released in 2024. -Because you don't have IBIS, you have to do a giant crop for digital stabilization which a.) degrades image quality, b.) narrows your field of view so much that you can only use ultra wide angle lenses and c.) is completely useless for photography where you are restricted to the few old and mediocre OSS lenses. -No 4k/120 and no 1080p/240 although the sensor CAN DO IT. Which means: They are voluntarily crippling down the capabilities of the camera's hardware. -No mechanical shutter which severely limits the camera's usability for photography -Crappy plastic, non weather sealed build quality -No AI AF chip although they have the tech. Once again: They're voluntarily crippling this camera down All of this would be somehow acceptable if this was a cheap budget camera for 700-800$. But it isn't. 1000$ for body only means probably 1200€ in Europe - which is slightly below the price for an a6700 or a Fuji XS-20 which are both MASSIVELY superior cameras - and massively superior especially for vlogging: The a6700 gives you IBIS plus only 13% crop for digital stabilization which is almost gimbal like when used with a Sony wide angle lens. For this price, the ZV-E10 II is completely unacceptable and I hope Sony will be severely punished by the market for it.

16:30 - "Great Overheating Times" sounds a like a good title for a sexy song. Best line: "...Skin softening function which I don't think anyone should use. I don't know, maybe You should - I haven't seen Your face" 😄 I'm looking forward to your ZV-E10 vs ZV-E10ii comparo, hopefuly with more real footages. 👍 That 33% crop-in is a bit tight for my liking, but otherwise, this is Sony's better model follow up than ZV-1 mkii was. Agree on 4k120fps - should've been an option, even for just 2 minutes as you mentioned.

Great review as always! I was so hyped for this camera and it would be perfect at 1100 USD with the kit lens, but it's close to 1300 USD where I'm at which is almost double the mark 1 with the kit lens.

I didn't even know this was set to come out! 10-bit and 4k over streaming is enough for me. It doesn't need a fan, because I am now its fan (and it looks like my lil Ulanzi guy will fit on there).

If I had to go with a crop frame form factor, I would definitely choose a6700 instead of zve10 ii , it's a much better hybrid camera, with better grip, great ibis, great active stabilizer with only 7-10% crop a dedicated ai chip , 4k120 and a great visor system etc, thanks a lot for your great video dear mark 👊✌️🌸

Guess this is a worthy successor to my beloved NEX VG 20. I just need a daddycam that could do the artsy stuff, but mostly is ready when my kids are doing their quatsch. So e-mount, a good af and internal mics are a must.

Hi Mark. Thanks for getting this out so quickly. I just did a quick search of Henry's my local camera store and a leader in Canada. The ZVE10 original without a lens is 899. The new one is 1399. So basically there is a 500 dollar premium for a camera that improves to 10 bit and a few other very minor spec improvements. I'm looking forward to your comparison video. A 50 percent price increase for the same camera is a little steep, don't you think?
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis5 ай бұрын
yes, that why I’m glad the original is still being sold. it really is the best budget camera. but there will be a lot of people who want the improvements of the new one - so now there’s the option - but at a substantial price hike

I love my zv-1. It’s amazing and low light is incredible. If it didn’t have a flash sync of 1/30. It would be perfect even at 12mp because it looks super clean. Cleaner than my A7iv. Probably the most fun camera and I love the interface but I can’t see myself going back to aps-c. Full frame is it. Size to quality of Zv-e1 is perfect. If this was even smaller the e10ii then it would make sense by why not just they zv-e1 over this. Except for overheating which e1 does at around 40 minutes at 4k60
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis5 ай бұрын
The ZV-E1 is amazing. But it's more than double the cost and the lenses usually cost more too. But with the budget - absolutely

@ChrisM-yq2pq5 ай бұрын
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisyeah I know double budget but better to buy once the 2x. I never loved a camera more than the Zv-e1. I’ve had Sony since A7R. And upgraded along the way. I have A9ii A7iv now. But when it comes to what I want to shoot with, it’s the Zv-e1. It’s so much fun to shoot with and I love the touchscreen interface. Yes the amount of choices in the menu can be overwhelming at times but once you get use to it, it is easy to change and also put ❤in the memory modes. This whole family of cameras ZVs is like the perfect video centric camera for me. They hit it out of the park with this line
@pfran95145 ай бұрын
@@ChrisM-yq2pqI’m trying to decide between this and the zv-e1. I like the simplicity of the touchscreen menu. Is the zv-e1 touchscreen menu the same? Does it have comparable fun in-camera photo filters? I will primarily be using for shooting photos.

Thank you, Mark. I was looking forward to this one coming out. I got the original one after your recommendations on it. I'm torn between this and the A6700. If you can do a comparison between the two, that'd be great. The EVF, IBIS and mechanical shutter make it a tough decision.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis can you compare all three (ZVE10 MK1 and MK2, in addition to the A6700)? I think I’d rather add the A6700 (while keeping my ZVE10 MK1). This seems to give me much greater range in terms of camera bodies. MK2 seems to be a slight improvement over the MK1, and you still don’t get A6700 features.

The most important upgrade is the battery. That alone makes it a strong consideration to switch.
