Very interesting and well executed. I am just finishing up 30 years as an locomotive engineer with the BNSF and regret to say I probably took no more than a half dozen photos during that time. If I had it all to do over again, I think I would have taken pictures of people in offices...yardmasters, trainmasters, clerks, operators, dispatchers etc. Most of the the people, positions and locations are long gone.

Hay Mark : Yes; there certainly ARE times when a picture and a brief background-story do give an outsider the equivalent of a description of a thousand words ! In having also given us some insight as to the necessary preparation required for your regular presentations; know that the appreciation is there. Lakka + Cheers / Johnny

Enjoyed the slide show Mark. I have very few photos of any of the truck shops I worked over the years, but oh well. I like to think back on all the fellow employees I worked with, the good ones and the others. It is quite an involved process to get one of these slide shows together. Thanks for the effort and have a happy holiday.

Outstanding video documentation. I enjoyed watching this due to taking me back throughout my railroad career plus to see how it was out your way during your railroad career. Thank you very much for sharing this with us. Have a great rest of your day and Merry Christmas to you and your family.(Steve)

Nice presentation Mark. Being originally from the valley I recognize a lot of those locations. Being an electrician for over 30 years I appreciate the kind of work involved. I also recognized the photo in the background of your intro as being of the loop. I have a copy of that myself that is in my shop/museum. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for checking it out! That old photo is by Frank Nejedly, who was an SP telegrapher/agent on the Tehachapi and an awesome photographer! A friend gave this copy to me.

Nice job Mark I grew up in Livermore, California and I was raised by my grandparents. My grandfather worked for Southern Pacific at the Altamont Pass Canyon branch for 35 years before he retired and 1980. I remember when I was a little kid living on I st in Livermore California in between the western Pacific in the southern Pacific railway always used to watch the trains go by. I’ve been fascinated ever since now and I live here in Bakersfield since 1994. I watch a lot of your videos like to catch you out there sometime maybe sit down and have some coffee, Todd Rodriguez

Interesting story about the paint dots. Perhaps a good idea to blot out the mark of a "defective" item. An FRA inspector once told me, "Don't waste time helping me find potential FRA violations. Just fix it

Cool photo. Does Is union pacific Still make utility poles lines?
@MarkClayMcGowan Жыл бұрын
Most poleline on class 1 roads was abandoned with the installation of the new microprocessor signal systems. In this region, all of it was sold to scrappers and is all gone. If you go to my "How The Signal System Works" playlist, you'll find a piece I did about the pole line before it was all removed.
