Hi, Mark. I always enjoy your videos. I have this device and I find it extremely accurate. Having said that, I use it outdoors where the radar can track the ball. I is not quite as accurate for hitting into a net. Especially if the net is less than 10 feet away. It is a radar device and needs time to track the ball. I find if the net is out 20 feet or so, it works quite well as the radar has time to track the ball. Outdoors and in a golf dome this device is great. Into a net (as you show in this video) it's good, but not perfect. I hope this helps.😃😃

Bought a SC200 plus+ a couple years back. And I did test it at a golf shop with a full swing Irons and Driver/3W - and it is pretty spot on compared to the expensive simulator as far as distance hit. So I use it before a golf round to "calibrate" (not all golf courses have driving ranges) my 7 iron and 4 Hybrid to make sure my distance is up to snuff. So my set up is Basement, golf net, SC200 - works for me! Might be nice to know apex, spin and angle vs the basic model I have. Biggest downfall - chews up batteries (I purchased 3 sets of rechargeable AA) and rotate.

Hi Mark - could you try a few shots with the Titleist RCT ball? It's designed for better spin and ball tracking for Doppler systems. Would be interesting to see if it makes the cheap unit a lot more accurate!

Just wanted to chime in, but from my understanding watching a few of these reviews, the SC4 doesnt really improve much from using the RCT balls, as opposed to the Garmin and some other competitors

@@H484R I own this device and I've owned the Garmin R10. (I got rid of my R10 after getting this.) If you use them both on the range, my experience is that this device is much more accurate and less finicky than the R10. I also have found that it doesn't miss shots like the R10 is prone to do. If you are hitting into a net then both this and the R10 are okay but not perfect. I hope this helps.

Great review. Absolutely agree with your conclusion with where all the low cost (sic) monitors are most valuable. I have both a Swing Caddie 2 (circa 2016) and bought a GC3 a year ago and use them both. I always carry the SC2 in the bag to the range when I want to compare one shot vs the next. The SC2 is very comparable with the GC3 for ball speed and carry distance and is extremely repeatable. I built a small spreadsheet for each club showing the SC2 vs the GC3 results which allows me to get useful information at the range. The rest of the numbers are software calculated so not very useful (I'm sure the SC4 is much better as Mark's review shows).

Great stuff MC! I have the SC3 and found it to be very good for what it was. Also have used the E6 software with my golf tiddle, it is absolutely fantastic. Just fun and has entertained golf and non golf friends over and over again.... Cheers!

I have SC 200+, bought it for about £200. Quite useful since some range where I lived do not have good distance marking, not to mention some even have net on top which kill all those high shot. Looks like this SC4 is still based on the same doppler technology with added features to justify the price tag. The sweet spot for me would be SC300/300i which add apex and launch angle(maybe also give you spin number on the app) and stores the data on the app. Though I still love my 200, because it gives me additional feedback on my range sessions overtime.

I have an older version of the Swing Caddie and found the numbers were way off, on both ends of the bag (it said my driver carry was 300 when Arccos says my total is 265), but for what it is, it was still somewhat useful and it looks like the data collected and presented has been greatly expanded. If I had the space in my house or garage to set up a simulator with this or something like it, well, let's just say my wife wouldn't see much of me!

Great review, thanks Mark! Looks pretty comparable to my Garmin R10 to be honest. I have problems with getting good spin rates on my R10 as well on my wedges, though distances seem pretty good, all the way round. I think it’s because with wedges the launch angle just gets a bit too steep. I use my launch monitor on the range and on practice rounds for gapping and showing why and how I miss. Especially gapping my 8-iron through Lobwedge on course with the ball I’m gaming has really honed my short game, and got my handicap down from 23 to 12 last year.

I saw a range review. The units most accurate were, the Garmin R10 and Rapsodo MLM they were almost as exact as the expensive “test unit” (one yard difference) with a guy out on the range to verify!

Seems like a similar level of tech to the Garmin R10. Interested if it can pick up or calculate shot shape or side spin. the snippets of E6 showed a side sin of 0.... MC you are a really good golfer but if you were able to achieve zero side spin every time then I think you'd be n tour 🙂

It's a glorified swing speed and carry sensor though so just good for working on speed or distance control. I personally still prefer the Flightscope Mevo+ for sim playing and technical work as their pro-package gives you club path, face angles, AoA, etc.. The others are notorious at adding subscription fees which I can't stand. But I guess it depends on what your budget and what you want to do... It's cool that SC4 Supports E6 but without proper metrics to simulate curvature, i'm not sure how realistic that would be.. Similar to the Garmin R10 I guess. But cool to see more choices available.

Mevo+ cannot be compared due to its price £1.5k...it is 3 times more so no point to compare it with SC4. I agree mevo+ is one of the best in mid range price but I have bought SC4 last week I did not feel like to spend 1.5k for a flight monitor...I might but I will try to use this one at the range and see

@@ADCL369It all depends if you want to invest for the long run I guess. looking at carry and swing speed is not going to help you if you have technical swing issues. But I understand it's not cheap. I decided to stop wasting my time on youtube and invest in my swing and It helped tremendously. Good luck

Hi, I own this device and I can tell you if you are using it outdoors on the range or in a dome it is as accurate as anything out there. If you are hitting it into a net, you need to have a lot of room for it to track the ball after you hit it, before it hits the net. I find 10 yards or at least 20 feet to get really accurate numbers. If you are too close to your net it's okay, but not nearly as good. I like this device a lot, but it's not going to be perfect for an indoor simulator. I camera device is much better for people with tight space. I hope this helps.

Would have been nice to see the data comparison between this and quad. I would never buy a launch monitor that didnt show correct numbers personally. Is the Mevo+ accurate as I have seen quite a few people using those and its abit more money of course.

I've seen differing reviews regarding the longer clubs vis a vis spin and carry accuracy. Not sure how I feel about spending the money for somehting that wasn't within a yard or two at most. I think I'd rather get fitted for a new driver for slightly more money.

Ive seen other reviews on it and it seems decent. We as consumers need to let these companies know we want spin axis numbers to capture true ball flight. The last thing you want to is play and practice ingraining a ball flight that isnt real. That the short coming with all these monitors that dont measure spin. Id pay more money for the unit if they did.

Great and completely honest/independent review. "An entry level Launch Monitor" is a perfect summary. I think you need to compare this against other LM of similar cost - which one is the most accurate, the most fun, the easiest to use (both inside and out). You might need to get hold of a Trackman to allow comparison against launch monitors which would placed where you put the GC Quad. Personally I would want a launch monitor which has more data points, especially club data (path, face to path, face angle as minimum although angle of attack would be nice as well). But I realise those are significantly more expensive. Maybe Mark should do a similar review of the new Skytrack + which seems to have all I would want at a much more reasonable price than GC3 (especially when subscriptions are taken into account)

I've been 'wishing' for one of these for years, I'm only a mid-handicapper but love stats and have been using arccos since my purchase of the F9 driver. I'm sure there isn't a screen saver for this but suspect you coould use a generic one from a larger tablet... however would that impact the sensors?

If you gave me one I'd probably use it a few times before I got bored charging it up and messing around with an iPad etc. I'm a bit of a hobbyist. fishing, golf, photography and they all have these gadgets that promise to make you better etc but I've never really found one that does what it says. The best thing to do is spend the £600 on green fees\membership. Just my opinion.

Looks interesting, I was considering getting this unit because of the range and I believe you get one course included for free to play. However the short yardage discrepancies and left to right dispersion not being accurate might be a deal breaker. Getting false data won’t help your game in real life. Thinking you’re hitting it straight when in actuality it’s going left or right can be an issue or trying to dial in those sub 100 yard shots, which are critical, can cost you strokes. Now there are third party apps that greatly improve the accuracy of the device which are subscription based so that helps but now you are on the hook to pay. That is something I’ve never understood with some of these entry level launch monitors like this one or the Garmin r10 or rapsodo. Clearly the device you have is capable of producing accurate shots so why do you need a third party app you have to pay for on top of the unit to get that accuracy. Why can’t Garmin or voice caddie just make the device do what it’s capable of doing without needing outside help?! Just baffling. Unless they are getting some kind of cut from the monthly subscriptions from awesome golf or e6. That’s really the only thing I can think of 🤷🏻‍♂️

The biggest problem with these--for those of us who do not have a home setup--is at the driving range. Range balls are awful and give you very skewed data. They neither spin nor carry like tour-level balls. At a range I use locally, they have Trackman on each station. One of its features is a "Convert" function that tries to adjust the data from range balls to reflect what you would have seen using a tour ball. It seems to be pretty accurate, but you do not get spin rates.

Yea the ranges I’ve been to have trackman or other high techs but use crap balls. It’s ridiculous. Also ranges need to not charge so much for trackman or whatever it should be free with the balls because all I see when people have to pay is the machines un used. But when they are free with the balls the range gets super busy for that reason.

As someone who has owned an SC4 for about 6 months I have to say that until Swing Caddie gets its act together from a firmware standpoint I'd avoid buying one! They release updates with zero explanation or apparent beta testing and about two weeks ago released one that renders the unit all but useless in the practice mode due to a radical increase in swing speed and decrease in ball speed and smash factor. The fact that contacting them is met with a canned brush off response and no action speaks volumes for their concern for their customers and their product. I really want to like my SC4 but at this point I feel disgusted and like I've wasted my money.

Yup, nothing has changed. A used Skytrak is still the entry point for simulation, and a gc2 if absolute accuracy is required.

Waste time... Waste money... just forget SC4... SC4 is rubbish... Total Carry is incorrect... Total carry-Carry= Run distance is around 15~20m in any Spin and Apex... Launch direction is shown as may the SC4 want to show... even full push or pull, in to our or out to in... it does not show and proper launch direction... Engineeres in Voice caddie is not professioneral engineer about ballistics. They do not know what is a Spin, Apex, Launch Direction and correlation between Spin/apex and Run distance... SC4 is not worthy to buy... Just waste money and time...

Mark, have you ever actual tested the GC Quad distances out on a range to see if its 100% accurate. If not then get the ole trundle wheel out and see if 50yrds is actually 50yrds 😉👍 Great review btw 🫡
