Thanks Gabe. This was super helpful. I also saw consistent high spin numbers outdoors as well about 2,000 more on nearly every club. Note wedges outdoors will not read spin numbers. The driver spin numbers seemed much closer outdoors. Carry numbers quite good. Roll out subjective and will vary. Very easy to set up and great portability fits easily in your golf bag. Nice unit especially for the price.

This is a surprise bonus device. I was not counting on this device coming out this spring. I know you mentioned seeing it at the PGA Show. After all the other devices and their anticipated roll-outs, This device seems a bit late to the party? And then you say that the SC4 has next level data such as face to path launch data. Bonus is the ability to turn your phone or device into a camera recording device. This is a big leg up on the MLM2Pro. This device could probably be used as a teaching device. Most likely what I would choose to help me to see not only the results but how I swing and or what I did on good or bad swings. Then you say a software update and E6 add-ons ... cmon this is a really great product and getting better. Thank you as always. You always seem out of breath working hard providing great content. Id say I watch you as much as the real news!

Thank you for this review Gabe. I found my SC4 to be very reliable and accurate on carry distance in an outdoor, into a net setup. Perhaps because I'm not a single digit handicap, but I don't give too much weight to spin numbers (unlike 99% of reviewers). I really care to have accurate carry numbers and flight direction because these data points immediately influence my decisions on the course. All in all, thank you for the review and please provide any updates in the future. Cheers!

I’m not sure if it’s my outdoor setup but the accuracy seems to drop off when I get into the 6 iron and longer. The data says my 6 iron has the same launch angle as my 9 iron and the carry is much less than what I hit on the course. Do you have any ideas for my setup?

Looks like a pretty accurate unit. As others have stated, no spin axis is a bit of a downer for me. If they ever buikd a better unit to detect spin axis without a subscription will definitely be on my radar. Thanks for the video.

You can use E6, but only in Demo mode at the moment. I've messed around with it a bit and super excited to have something like this in my garage.

Great video and review. I have this unit and have compared it to trackman indoors. Distance is very consistent with trackman results but the spin rate is off just like l was the case with the Bushnell. My question to everyone is how is it able to be consistent with distance with the spin rate difference? Thanks great job

I have the Garmin Approach R10 and I really like it. This video is making me want to buy this launch monitor now. This thing looks really nice and I like that it has audio features too. The price is not too over the top either. I would hope they get the spin number issue fixed because that is one of the data points I really need to keep track of. I hope you do a follow up video on this device if they get the spin numbers fixed. Having false data like that can really throw you off when you're practicing out at the range. Maybe I'll give them a call to see if that feature has been corrected with a software update befor I make a decission to buy this launch monitor. Gabe, thanks again for the great videos. The carry numbers are accurate, it’s the roll that’s off but that is also unpredictable when you are playing depending on how and where the ball lands. The carry number is what you really need.

Good initial review. Definitely worth a follow up with RCT balls to see if spin tightens up. And , as will all the lower end monitors, dispersion is the most important. At this price point, most people wont have projectors and will be relying on an ipad next to them. If it can match the high end monitors on shot direction, then i can live with carry, spin etc being off by 2/3%.

Bryson DeChambeau set up in the station next to me at the range. You can't believe the sound the ball makes off his club. Super nice. He had a Boschnell swing monitor with him. I had my $550 SC4 swing monitor. He was more than happy to set his up in my station and hit 195 yard 8 irons. All the stuff on my monitor matched up. Awesome. Spin, ball speed, launch angle, carry, and apex all the same. So their firmware upgrade fixed the spin rate issue. Last time he was there he left a box of tees I snagged.

I was using regular golf balls, which to me, is a big selling point of this unit. I actually did try the RCT balls and couldn’t get a reading from them bizarrely enough.

Just picked mine up. Carry numbers were pretty close I’d say. Spin was all over the place. Some saying 1900 on the driver and some 4400. I avg like 3300 on the driver spin. Also the launch of the ball on the app were in directions the ball didn’t travel in real life. Is it something I’m doing wrong?

What Sim packages will it support i.e. E6, GS Pro, etc and if they are intending to package some FREE Sim Courses (5, 10, 15) like MEVO does with E6???? or Zero i.e. integration but no free corses. Assuming they make the SC4 firmware updates I’d say it will be the better option since it will be priced significantly cheaper and with no subscription needed and no RPT balls necessary. If they can’t then Rapsodo would be my choice.

The MLM2PRO struggles mightily with chip shots, anything 12 yards and under it and you are probably looking at 50% no reads or miss reads. Did you test the SC4 in those kind of scenarios because that is sort of a big deal when it comes to simulation play especially when there’s no putting

No, it's not you - the SC4 doesn't know how to measure (nor does it try to estimate) the spin axis which means no accurate shot shaping. Let's say the ball has 7000 rpm of back spin - it's how that spinning ball is tilted in the air that sends it more left or right and creates shape. I was disappointed that the SC4 doesn't measure or calculate it. It seems like it may only be good for carry distances and club head speed.

UPDATE: I am returning this unit to Play Better and getting a Garmin. I used at a range off mats and it was consistently 20 yards longer than the flight system they had. I then hit off grass and altered the angle with respect to the ball plane and distance (also have the official case)...nothing changed the over estimate also confirmed by my Bushnell range finder. Huge disappointment. Gabe, I bought the SC4 off Play Better because you always mention them. I emailed them saying i ordered because of your channel but no coupon code and they emailed me with a discount after I bought it! Awesome people like you always say! Now i watch the review to see if I made an alright choice....

I have the SC 300i. I've been quite pleased with it. However, I have to mentally adjust the results for range balls. I'm concerned that the more this device tries to do with the data it collects, the more erroneous it will be. Garbage in, garbage out. ("Garbage," in this case, range ball performance.)

I just got the SC4 and love the software, especially used with E6, however, I can't get the swing speed right. My 7 iron has a normal swing speed of 90 mph but it is showing 20mph slower. What is the issue? I am set up approx 10ft from the net and the SC4 is about 5ft to 5.6ft behind where I am hitting the ball. I wonder if it could be lighting in my garage?

I think the precise alignment is critical. A little bit of misposition (not exactly behind the ball and accurately facing the target) can have a considerable effect on the result.

how have your carry distances with short (30-80y) partial wedge shots been with the sc4? that's usually another difficult zone for inexpensive radar units but it's among my priorities.

@@LetsPlayThru Yeah, I am dismantling my backyard sim (really hard in a 4-season area vs a fixed indoor setup). REALLY loved my skytrak for dialing in distances like this and am trying to find the best (albeit prob not as good) of the simpler ones to just get wedge carry at a driving range - mevo, SC200/300/4, etc. I like the swing caddie no-app interface but think maybe the mevo (non plus) might be arguably the best in this bracket since it's now like 350 bucks. Hard to say.

SC4 + E6 doesn't mix, if you have android. iPhone or iPad only! I'am experiencing distance issues on all clubs. I hit into a net that's open to sunlight, etc. I will move the netting, 10ft from hitting area and see if the numbers get closer! Thanks,

with your fade shot you had a 138 carry, the swing caddie reported 151 total and your bushnell reported 138 carry and 137 total.....may want to take the bushnell back...😂

Can you specify what your lofts are for each club within the SC4 app because maybe the algorithm it runs off of is different from your actual clubs. If your irons are stronger by so many degrees its going to say your spin rates higher than it actually is. Wonder if you preform tests with the 9i but select the 8i on the SC4 it gives closer numbers. If would be best if you can input your clubs with lofts to get the most accurate numbers and if you have other use the system the numbers may be a bit off unless you can update with profiles. Just thoughts I had but Im no app developer or at all a great player. Just love tech and enjoy your reviews.

He set his up and hit about 12 8 irons 195 yards in my stall with SC4 and his device. All the numbers matchup with the SC4 and his expensive device. The 12 balls were all good strikes. I think the numbers are good.

Yeah, I never trust total distance on any device really. On the range it always gives a longer number. So yeah, roll out looked better with the SC4 there. Spin is really my only concern.

Look at the launch conditions though on that first one, only 6274 RPM of spin, 96mph, and a launch angle of 19.8° landing on the fairway. That sounds very realistic for the ball to roll out that much with those launch conditions, it's essentially a thinned PW.

This disappoints me. I got mine about 3-4 weeks ago and haven't even used it yet. My biggest thing I wanted was spin on my driver. For the life of me I cannot get the spin low enough. I'm right about 4500+ I thought I'd tried everything but this doesn't seem to be the thing I want. With that number being off it seems the carry would be off as well. Yes, the rollout will be off but it seems to me the spin number being almost double your usual would drop the yardage.

It is strange that they get the carry distance right with such a high spin number as more spin equals less distance - rule of thumb is that every extra 500 rpm equals 1.5 yards less carry. My concern would be that if they are getting back spin so wrong what is side spin and therefore shot shape like indoors?

The lack of spin axis is really what kills it for me. You can't play (or simulate accurately) a ball flight indoors that is not close to what would really happen. If you slice or hook the ball, the worst this thing would do is report a push or pull that probably doesn't look as bad because the horizontal launch isn't what takes it OB - it's that PLUS the tilted spin axis.

It will depend on what you want to use it for. The Garmin R10 will give you an estimated spin axis which is a lot more accurate for the shape of your shots than nothing at all. The SC4 is going to be a really inaccurate launch monitor for simulation if you want to try and get close to where the ball would go in real life. It doesn't measure or try to estimate/calculate spin axis, so where the ball lands according to Voice Caddie can be very different than what would happen in real life. If you just want to hit balls on a driving range or into a net to get carry distances, seems like either would work for you.

Unfortunately with how much spin determines (carry, total, height) these low budget monitors are all but useless if they can't get spin right. Your last strike the bushnell is more likely cotrect because at 90mph swing speed 1900 spin isnt enough to keep it in the air which is why it was shorter. Sc4 reported as longer carry because 4k spin kept it up. Spin determines everything, SC4 looks useless.

Biggest thing I don't like is the audio of the carry I wouldn't buy it just cause of that

That can be changed to “total” or turned off altogether
