I just watched your video about 45 minutes ago and the grip section had me thinking. I took my free P wedge and went outside( while on deployment) and tried out the change. FML it changed everything!! Control up, stroke more consistent and I can actually hit ball then turf 95% instead of maybe 50/50. It feels better and can’t wait to get home and get fit for my first set in twenty years. Thanks for your time and information.

Thank you for not using loads of unfamiliar language and weird terms to explain. All made perfect sense. I really appreciated you demonstrating the different types of wrist extension & showing some tips for the grip, too. If it wasn't 2am I'd be heading to the range now to try it out!

Another banger Mark! Seriously, the visual aids are totally helpful for people like me that can’t just go off of words. More so, it’s great to understand the differences between hitting a long iron and a driver. Thanks bruh!

I'm new to the channel. This guy is incredible. In the three videos I've vastly increased my club head speed and consistency. The first video I watched was a full lesson with a student, the second video ( and most useful for me) was the video explaining releasing the club, and then this one. Unbelievably fast results (to be fair, Im a good athlete and I used to be a dancer, so I'm used to watching something and being able to duplicate it with my body)

Thanks Mark! This is a wonderful video. I have shared it(and your channel) with all my friends. I was hitting my drives between 210 and 220. After putting the techniques you show in this video into my swing I am driving in the 240 to 250 range. One drive I hit 274 yards(with considerable help from the wind😅)! Thank you again and please keep making these vids.
Fantastic drill and explanation of why we love distance and direction. Will start working on the drills. Thanks. Cheers

Unbelievably helpful, Mark. ***A word of caution if these present significant changes from your current swing: Start these changes at 50% and then work your speed back into them. Otherwise you'll get frustrated very quickly. But make no mistake, this is priceless information for the golfer struggling off the tee.

Finally! As a ten year I taught my self to grip the grip at the base of the fingers. I hit the ball sweet as. I had 3 pro’s teach this out of me ( as was the thing in the 80’s). Unfortunately I listened to them and battled to hit straight or long. If only we knew then what technology shows us now!

Last year was my first season golfing. Originally my back swing was to much behind me so I wasn't really achieving full power, over the winter I practiced getting a much wider arc ( wall drill ) and then I applied your swing thought of tilting vs rotating the shoulders and am absolutely crushing my irons. Averages last year with 7-iron were a measly 130-140 yards with what seemed to be good contact, this year my 7-iron stock yardage is 175 and I can get it up to about 190 if I really put some swing juice behind it. Thanks for the tips, I'm convinced you're the most informative on a relatable level. Coming from someone who spent the first year of golf watching nearly every golf instruction possible.

Great video. When you say that when the trail shoulder tries to hit the tee on the way through and that this will lead to extension in the follow through, i think, for more advanced golfers, there is more to it. Would you do a video on the proper lower body pressure shifts needed in order to finish the swing in a position of extension? There is more to it than pointing the trail shoulder at the tee on the way through the ball. In order to actually point the trail shoulder at the tee on the way through, the lower body has to be working in a certain way. I hope you will address this or, if you have addressed it before, then please address again. Thanks.

Great video Mark. That’s me all over. I play off 3 and always had a very shallow swing and tried over the winter to get it a bit steeper. Since then I’ve had the high slice and it’s ruining me. Your explanation makes total sense and you can rest assure I’ll be working hard on those drills. Thanks lad ⛳️🏌🏻♂️👍

Hi Mark, really helpful video and helped with my driver. Is that grip technique okay for irons and wedges too? Interested to know your thoughts.
@timrickman5065 Жыл бұрын
Hi Mark - great video.. I wanted to ask a question.. I used the grip as advised - found it great for the driver but for the irons I pulled (that then drew even more) every shot but had a great strike?? Any idea why?
@markpoppe8681 Жыл бұрын
you're likely getting a better strike because the strong grip tends to close the club face and the ball strikes the middle of the iron face. The face is closed to path, hence the pull-hook.
@swisstrader Жыл бұрын
Excellent. My issue w the grip is that I have very small hands so tough not to keep in the palm of my hands. Would you recommend smaller grip size or do something else?

Mark, this has to be the best lesson I've seen recently on the fundamentals of maximizing driver distance but I still have issues!! I'm short, 5' 5" and feel like I'm swinging really flat when I try these feelings. I play an inch shorter shaft which has helped a bit but would still like some help and advice for the vertically challenged.

Good tips Mark, I have a question though, I do all the setup like you say, I actually take too long on most of my prep tee shots with driver but the question is the hands, with irons they are always ahead of the ball, what about with driver should they be level with the ball or slightly behind or ahead of the balls thank s. It is hard taking advice from many different youtube golfers some say dont use your shoulders some say you must use your shoulders some say dont hinge your wrists early yet nearly every player you watch on setup before hitting even you Mark hinges the club back and forth before the swing weird that we do it yet you shouldnt hinge or cock wrists early in the swing ?

Hi mark! I just had a driver I was fitted for checked as I was convinced it was wrong as I could not stop it hitting the moon, but I tend to tee it up quite high (orange or above) in the fitting I hit 9 up off them tees but find the middle 95% of the time, but they had me hit it off a pink tee which I never use to bring launch spin and attack numbers into line, would you agree with them doing that? Thanks

@dougm659 Жыл бұрын
So few instructors point out how much good golfers tilt their shoulders towards the ground, especially on the downswing…roughly 52 degrees from level which is waaaay more than us hackers do or even realise! This is how compression and lag are created and hence from where power emerges without swinging yourself out of your shoes!

I’m struggling with hitting up too much ,between 14 and 19 degrees launch angle. So for me I need to feel like I’m hitting down on it even though I’m not. Also I’m a drawer of the ball not a slicer.

Hi Mark I wish you could put more emphasis on how to do it the correct way and not so much on what is the wrong way. Like on this video, it is very informative but boring. I continuously wondered off after the second time you showed the wrong way. I then had to refocus when you are showing the correct way. I think the majority of instructors talk way too much about the wrong way and very little about the correct way. I really would like to see it direct to the point keeping it sweet and short.
