I love how receptive Michelle was to your ideas Mark. I mean, it isn’t easy being told that you’re doing it wrong, especially as a pro and teacher. But you are so right about ball position and shaft lean and I’m surprised Michelle’s was so off. In my 3rd ever lesson (after they got rid of my lateral sway and I started to rotate properly) they had me in a much more aggressive position at setup where the lead hip is already slightly forward and lead arm and club form an almost continuous line at address. I know that it’s not necessarily how pros setup, but it makes sense to me that if that’s the sort of impact position I’m trying to achieve with 10 degrees of forward shaft lean, then why wouldn’t I start more like that? Anyway, well done Michelle, you have a beautiful looking swing and I hope you can implement Mark’s changes but also keep “throwing darts”…. Just longer ones!

Favorite part of the video is when Mark says, I don’t care where it goes that lower dynamic loft if your goal now. That concept of numbers based intent is missing from picture perfect instruction these days. Love it.

Wow! This is EXACTLY what I've been going through at the range sessions this summer. I changed to the interlock grip which changed my body positions (hands, arms, elbows, shoulders, back twisting) and I gained 30-ish yards with my blade irons which are 2012 Titleist MB. Like 7-iron was my 150-yd club at beginning of summer, but as of my round this morning that same 7-iron is carrying 180-yds and was rolling out to 181 but the greens were very, very soft. On one of the par 3 holes of 195-yds I almost always hit 3-iron or hybrid hoping it will reach the green, but with the changes like in this video I'm carrying that distance with a 6-iron!!! Just crazy good stuff. And like Mark described towards the end there, I developed a scary hook shot at first. Took me about 3 ranges sessions to realize I was pulling the club down from the top and didn't have good rotation in the back swing. I have that worked out fairly well now. One club I have lost the ability to use is my 3-wood. Early summer...3-wood was my absolute favorite club to use. Not anymore. I actually purchased a used U-500 with 17° loft and it is an absolute weapon. Off of a tee the flight is stunning and I can expect the ball to be around 250-275-yds depending on the ground conditions. AND from off of the fairway like 2nd or 3rd cut of grass, I have hit more greens from 220-240 than I ever did with my 3-wood or fairway wood.

I have the same exact problem as her. Almost every aspect. I got to playing high 70s adding loft, however, it can be really inconsistent and weak sometimes and I can creep into the 80s easily. I’ve been trying hard to find time to make that space and take that loft down. This has been an interesting way to look at it. Thanks coach

Hey Mark, same issue, bad left knee for a couple of years, had it replaced 4 months ago. Just got back into the game and the tendency is presenting too much loft. Are there some drills you would recommend, forward shaft lean is obvious, but speed of hip turn seems to have something to do with it. Looks almost like a left turn. Thanks for what you do.

@davidfletcher68362 жыл бұрын
She could but she’s going to have more shots to play with by adapting her swing.
@cameronloveless17512 жыл бұрын
It was mentioned that Michelle had scored well the previous day. She makes it work - must do, or she wouldn’t have been playing this way for so many years. But… start playing longer courses, and her current technique will see her laying up on par 5’s instead of reaching, or having to hit a fairway wood to reach long par 4’s.
@roy55152 жыл бұрын
She has a good swing, just realigned set up. A lot of players don’t even have a consistent swing, much harder to coach.

This is really a different kind of example of how we can go from being not fit, and only being able to do 5 pushups, to 6 weeks later of daily practice and being able to do 50 pushups. It's a bit frightening, but human reality, unfortunately, that we gain and lose strength and fitness so quickly - the good thing is we can get it back again. If you put in the time to acquire the skill at one point - with a little work you can regain a lot of the old distance.

Maybe it's just me, but it really seems that she set up with WAY too much weight on her back leg. She shifted a bit in her swing after taking dynamic loft off the club, but even still, if she put a bit more on the left side, and then transitions back and forward in her swing, I think she's get a better dynamic loft and more distance.

@rsg--ns3uf2 жыл бұрын
@@codex6594 I think if you look at dynamic loft numbers of top pros you would see what I mean. I never said a pro hits a seven iron 250. I’m not a world class ball striker would probably class my self as average and my dynamic loft is 23 degrees which is equivalent to a static loft of less than my five iron
