Well done Dan taking the final putt and nailing it for a clean sweep coast to coast.👍👍👍 That last hole "up and down" from Dan was class, shows his abilities are just a shade above and a real addition to this channel IMHO.

Yes, well done Dan. Shame that MC has to "give" the last putt (and thereby take away a little of the sweetness from an honest win). Tad bit of "you didn't win, I lost" attitude. Hate it when my buddies pull that.

I play Black quite often being from the area....your learn pretty quickly not to using anything more than a wedge if your the rough even if your only 160-180 out. And just assume you will be 10 strokes over what your normal score is and expect 5+ hour rounds. Still an amazing setup. Love it
@jlash2595 жыл бұрын
swisstrader 5 hour rounds wow so it stays busy every day?
@swisstrader5 жыл бұрын
jlash259 it packed during golf season every day of the week. 5 hour rounds just more about how many shots being taken vs people playing slow.
@msalzberg49625 жыл бұрын
@@jlash259 I'd say the length and the hills easily add a half hour to each round, and the difficulty adds another half hour.
@RJMConsultingCDOs5 жыл бұрын
I haven't played there(Black) in about eight years, but we used to get around in under 5 hrs, esp. if we got off before 8a. I don't remember ever having to wait on a tee for more than a couple of minutes, and by the turn everyone was spread out. (Unlike the Blue... I walked off the 11th hole after 4 hrs... Tired of being two groups deep on every par three.)
@msalzberg49625 жыл бұрын
@@RJMConsultingCDOs About 15 years ago you could get around in 5 hours if you went out before 9am. A couple of years later you had to go out before 8am. The only time you go longer than 5 on the Black is if some tourist is in front of you, wanting to take photos on every tee. The blue backs up terribly on the 3rd and the 7th (both front par 3s), and on the dreaded 6th. It usually gets better on the back.

It must be hard for Dan, being a competitive person, to have Mark generally lay down and quit whenever he’s not hitting them the way he wants to, while Dan generally gives almost every shot the best attention he can muster.

Dan just doesn’t mess around. Gets his yardage, picks his club, sets his bag down, three or four words, not even a practice swing, and hits it. Love it. What a great trip fellas. Living the dream vicariously through the muppets. Just class.

Wish you guys would have discussed the round at the end similar to what you guys did at Pebble. Commentary about the course, what you liked/disliked, etc. What the PGA will be like, etc. That course is almost ridiculous with the wind and the back tees for a championship.

Welcome to New York in the spring. Real spring starts in June, though there were baby leaves showing in the trees. The rough grass is made of steel wire, and the greens are hard as pool table tops. Beth Page Black is brutal, ain't it lads.
@msalzberg49625 жыл бұрын
Will you post a round-up of your trip? I'd like to know what you think of the courses. Also, why didn't you play for strokes, rather than match play? To travel all the way to Pebble or Bethpage, and not putt out on every hole seems a shame. Lastly, they sell yardage books in the Bethpage pro shop. You could have saved a few shots with a map. More than once I was cringing watching you make good shots to bad places on the Black. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the Black. It's always a treat - thrill -aggravation - workout - humbling - course to play.

You really can't get the full visual effect on video. Standing on the third green, looking at the fourth hole, is one of the most beautiful golf holes I've ever seen. Two dimensional video doesn't really show off the elevation changes, nor the scale of the bunkers. It really is a beautiful course. Of course, the fact that I only have to pay $42 to play it helps ;)
