If someone is complaining about the price I’d like to know what they spent on their last driver, you use a putter 2-3x’s more a round. Most important club in your bag, get one you want to use, practice with and have confidence. I game a fastback Scotty that I was fitted, best one for me.

I've been using a Futura for decades. I can't see myself ever changing - it felt like part of my body the first time I picked it up, and it has every time I've used it since then. It was "expensive", but I've never regretted the price - the confidence it gives me and the feel I have holding and putting with it are worth every. single. penny. I've put up with many, many years of constant "looks like a potato masher" comments - which strangely seem to stop once I drain putt after putt with it. Easily the best piece of equipment I've every bought or used!

I bought a Newport in 1995 and I never play golf without it. One must cleave to a Scotty, never let it go. It must grow with your game and you will see great value over time. The face is so fantastic, the sweet spot pure (especially with old Balata balls). If you need to take some heat off a short putt, hitting a little off-center gives a fraction less power proportional to how far from the sweet spot you hit it. It's a precision instrument. I hadn't played in a couple of years so went and hit the practice greens. No warm up needed, it was as if I had just played a round yesterday. It's part of me, part of my game, now. The putter is "blued" steel and requires an oiling every once in a while. I have put several drops of oil in the wool of the head cover and it keeps well, even on moist days. Once I stopped the new putter every season routine and committed to one it did improve my putting substantially through greater confidence and consistency.

Yes, played a Scotty Delmar for a year, by far the best feeling putter I've ever used. Problem was my putting stats went to crap, from an average 1.7 putts per green with my old 'used bin' Ping Anser to 2+ with the Delmar. Sold it and bought a new fitted Ping Anser. I've always wanted to try one again, maybe a Newport 2 this time.

If you’ve played golf for any length of time, you know spending $600 for a putter is not going to lower your score. It might increase your enjoyment, might make you feel special, might make you the envy of your foursome. But if you want to trim strokes with the putter it’s going to take hours of practice every week. Put in the time and improve. Stop trying to be the Porsche owner of the golf world. I could give a damn what’s in your bag or what you drive but put up a few sub 30 putt rounds and I’m impressed!

Well done on the intro sir! I personally would never buy a Scotty because of price. I've ALWAYS wanted one but could never justify buying one when it most likely wouldn't make any more putts than my old PING ZING 2. Just got one, my first scotty. More importantly I talked to the guy in the shop and he put me on track man and let me play with a few different styles and models of putter. I learned more about myself and my ability to putt as much as I did about what putter I think I like. Bottom line is If you are spending top dollar for a premium putter make sure you get fit and try out everything. Good shops will offer this and spend the time helping you find your best match.

i find when you have a club like putter that you have spent a bit of money on and you love it it makes you want to go and practice your putting also find it funny how people question paying big money on a putter which will hit 30-40 times a round and have no concerns paying 500 quid on driver which will hit 14 times or so

I got a custom fit, custom Edel putter last year. I love it. Boosted my confidence and improved my putting by virtue of being fit to me. I only chose that brand Cos it looks cool and there was a genuine custom fitter near by (as opposed to a shop that just hands u different putters till you choose one.) so it was specifically made for ME. I track my putting on arccos and in the 4 months I’ve had my Edel, my average putts per round has dropped from 34 to 31 and I have been under 30 multiple times. For me that is a huge win. If I just “bought confidence” by buying that putter then so be it! 🤷🏼‍♂️

I'm rocking a Older White Hot Putter and I got it about 5-6 years ago and while it has been decent and I've just never really hit any other putter. I bought it from a main golf store and that was that. After hitting a SC Flowback 5 specifically a 34'' fit to my swing style I noticed a consistently better stroke feel and ball roll than with my older putter. Putted in the golf shop for about 30 min. I didn't buy it yet but I plan to go back and check it out again to get a second feel and put back to back with my old putter "blade style" The Face balance of the SC putter felt way more natural to my swing and the weight of the club felt balanced and more easy to swing naturally in a pendulum motion than my older putter was feeling forced. It's all preference but I LOVE the look of the putter too and I think that really has a lot to do with confidence in your putting.

I hit the Special Newport 2 today at the golf shop. Noticed it's heavier weights in the sole, but the overall swingweight was a standard D7. Wondering if the head is smaller as the grip doesn't appear to be a counter balance? I might give the Squareback a go. For some reason I've had good success with that model.

Scotty made a smaller, thinner, thus Lighter Head so that he could then place this "saved weight" into the Removable Weights. *More Toe and Heel Weight in the Special Select Newport, Newport 2, and Newport 2.5 ONLY.* ALL other Models still use the original 10/15/20 Weights. *Scotty made 3 "Mid Mallet" Putters that still look like their Original "Blade" Shapes.*

I would probably not have bought a Scotty Cameron putter in years gone by but when my Odyssey face insert was wearing and the ball was not coming off consistently, I decided buy a new one. That was also when I retired and my company gave me a cash sum as a retirement present - but I had to spend the money on something physical and present a receipt. Consequently, the sum directed me to more expensive putters - so I have a Scotty and I have always felt comfortable with it.

Bettinardi worked for Scotty Cameron between 1993 and 1998 before setting up his own company. I’ve had my Scotty for over 15 years and see no reason to change. While I was waiting I saw the scottys in the corner and decided to have a go. First two I was thinking “ok”. I picked up the third (Newport 2.5) and everything about it felt out of this world. I walked straight to the till with it and handed over 182 notes and said thank you very much. The topic is interesting. I own a few Scotties from the past 25 yrs. 1997 Newport (received as a gift), 2000 Newport Slant neck (recieved as a club pro), X11 (shop demo), and a 2018 Laguna (shop demo). So I've paid about $600 for putters. I still game each of them from time to time and enjoy the moment I take them out of their headcover (18 times a round, usually). The Laguna is my daily favorite, and I am excited to practice with it. I don't have any other clubs in my bag that I use from the early 2000s, although I have MP 68s from 2012ish, and Titleist 690MB from 2000 that I enjoy playing with on a few rounds a season. My point being, they don't lose much in price value (if any), and the "technology" doesn't really get outdated just updated. Even though I know this, I take quite a bit of time to pull the trigger on a new putter.

I think any putter, whatever brand, that over time helps you improve your distance control, is a well made putter. I think the quality of Titleist putters allows you to do that. If you can get better at predicting how far you’ll hit a putt, green reading becomes easier which makes it easier to hole more putts.
@BuffaloNickel9
@BuffaloNickel9 2 жыл бұрын
Yep in my opinion distance control is the absolute most important part of putting. You can't get the ball to the hole you'll never make the putt no matter what your line is but if you miss your line a little bit you can still make a putt with the correct distance control. Also if you miss your line you can still make a putt because you could have chosen the wrong line or you could have been lined up improperly lots of ways to make a putt without hitting your line or even when you do hit your line.. But if you can't get the ball to the hole you'll never make the Putt and if you hit it too far past the hole you'll never make the comeback putt. All the putter fittings in the world can't help you with distance control they can help you with face path and alignment and roll but not distance control which is why so many people I know who've had a putter fitting had very little improvement. None got worse but very few improved.

Scotty putters are beautiful and worth every penny. It’s the most used club in the bag and should bring confidence to the holder. I love mine as it’s amazing and it gives me confidence when in my hands.

I had a California Del Mar for a season but found I didn’t have the same feel as my previous Odyssey Marxman. Ended up getting lucky and a mate swapped me for a Spider Tour. I don’t think I’ll buy another putter again! I love that Spider!!

bigron25 spider will go down in history as the greatest putter eventually. I have a scotty and spider tour, and spider holes more putts. But scotty just looks sexy and not as clunky in size to be in the bag .

They’re expensive but when you really think about it it’s the most important club in the bag and if you really like it you could use it your whole life if you want too. It’s a putter so it’ll last as long as u want it too. Plus u r going to pay over a 100 bucks to get a solid putter to begin with might as well splurge it is worth it. Consistent putter with great feel and instills confidence

i thought they were very overpriced, then picked one up in a shop to have a look and the milled face just seemed like such a quality piece of engineering that i got it. I then bought a used one for less than a new Odyssey or PING that i will keep forever.

What makes me laugh about putters is people think you are crazy buying a Scotty but have a much more expensive driver in the bag. Which they use once a round and can't flipping hit. I'm a relatively new golfer and have a Scotty Newport 2 standard blade which I love! Thanks for the video!

I have used a Cameron, a Ping Answer and a Yes Putter. All 3 worked well and feel awesome. Sometimes I Putt better with the cheaper Yes, really depends on my game that day or what course I am on. But the Cameron and Answer are worth every cent. All subjective to your income.

Each to their own , I wouldn't change my scotty for nothing but that is just me , when I take my scotty out of the bag I always think the amount of work that's gone into it and the quality materials , does it make me putt better in my eyes yes because the confidence I have with that ....

One thing I've experienced since owning a premium milled putter (not a Scotty) is that I can't see myself replacing it. This means I'm going to use the same putter for years instead of months like previously. This is another consistency in my game that I didn't have before.

2:08 I have the same car. Model 3 Performance, Gray over white. Ive seen a few Model Y's on the road, early employee deliveries, over here stateside.. Black hardware, window trim and door handles. Its beefy looking, but no higher off the ground that the model 3. Identical clearance (for what it's worth, it's a model 3 with more storage and a more vertical sitting position)

At this price range.... it's more about brand desire. Why buy BMWs, Audis and Mercedes? Because they can and that's what they want. Love the comments and concerns but at the end of the day people will buy what they want. Always loving the videos.

Driving is probably equally important IMO. Being able to put it in the fairway vs in the bushes or OB. May hit fewer shots with it, but you lose as many shots as being a bad putter in hazards, OB, and trouble shots if you cant hit driver.

I totally agree with you. I just find it funny that alot of us out there will spend 600 dollars plus in a blink of an eye to get the latest in greatest driver. Over a grand for irons and 200 per wedge every year or so no problems. But a putter over 300 bucks wtf where they thinking, it's a putter. I look it this way 14 holes on a 18 hole course you might use driver. You're use your putter at least 20+ plus times in all honesty more like 36( two putts). Why do we cringe at putter cost when its truly the most important part of bag. I'm in the same boat I wait till final clearance sales for putters but I touch that new speed zone and ask the kid selling it, hey you guys take american express right?

I get it! There is nothing better than crushing a golf ball. That's why at practice facilities you sometimes can't find a place to hit right away but practice green is always open. Two questions would rather hit every drive 300, or one putt every green? And do you think we are so quick to buy new drivers because the manufacturers and reviews push them more than putters? Not saying you put a scotty or any high-end in your paws your going to make everything but why is it we will spend big money on everything else. When putting is the most vital thing in the game. Object of the game is to get the ball in the hole. Not a long driving show

I purchased my first "expensive" putter last year. I definitely can tell the difference, especially inside 5 feet. However, the strokes gained have been minimal because my inability to read the greens is still my weak link. Give me a second chance to make a putt and the new putter excels.

One of the best parts of a Scotty is the Custom side of things, that being said I would always buy second hand, you cant lose any money then and in the long term will cost you £0 to own just sell it when you change. They are very strong on the second hand market.

I play an old 2004 Scotty Newport 2.5 that I more or less commandeered from my boss about 7 years ago. I’ve bought many putters over the years, all different head shapes and necks but nothing seems to fit me like that Scotty. I’ve tried out newer model Scotty’s and I just don’t like the way they look and feel. Not that they don’t look and feel amazing, but I’ve gotten so used to the feel of my Scotty and how I swing it, nothing else compares to it. Now I’m not saying my old beat up Scotty is better than anything on the market, because it’s not. I’m just saying it’s what I like and what fits me best.

I think you both hit it on the head. I still have my Newport 2 from 2003. Bought a Bettinardi and love that. But when I laid my eyes on my current Fastback, and then putted with it. Sweet Xmas. I would keep going to the golf store and putt with it and finally said, F it, you are coming home with me.

I was once naive about Scottys as well... Until I got one. I love the look and feel and it ultimately makes me more confident while standing over the ball. I've been gaming the Futura 5W for over two years. The putter is the MOST USED club in your bag! People don't bitch when they spend $500+ on a driver that they hit maybe 12-14 times a round. How many times will you hit your putter per round? Don't lie... It's over 30 and possibly 40 or 50 depending on your ability. Could you spend less? Of course, but it's ultimately what YOU prefer. Haters gonna hate, bruh!

Put a Newport 2.5, which I got at a huge discount, new, in the bag in June. I've putted with the same Ping Anser since 1985. Putt equally well with either. The Anser is my "winter" putter here in New England for the reason, I don't have to deal with the head cover in the cold. Like Coach, I don't want to ruin the piece of art, Scotty.

People spend almost £500 on drivers and don’t seem to question it but you only use that club 14 times a round max and you use a putter double that so you could argue its value for money relatively. If it feels nice for you, helps you and gives you confidence for whatever reason then buy it wether it’s £30 or £300

Love my Newport 2.5 I’ve had for a few years now. Plan to keep it for many more. It’s just like playing blades after awhile. They get dinged up and faces turn brown and you’ll want a fresh set. You don’t really want a big change just a new set. I’d say the same for one of these putters.

Yeah, I turned 50 last year, so I treated myself to a premium putter. But rather than going for a Scotty, I decided to go for an Evnroll ER2. Reasons are twofold... Reason 1. I wanted to buy a putter that was different. It seems that everyone plays a Scotty. Reason 2. The feel of the Evnroll was much nicer (softer) in my opinion. Once I tried it in the shop, I kept going back to it.
