Rule 7-2 permits practice putting on the green of the completed hole. If you were penalized it was because of a rule specific to that event.

Mark Crossfield That too. :-) I very much enjoy your videos. A good blend of golf and club reviews and instruction. I don't think I could play with you, though. You'd be in my head from the first tee onward.

Rule 7.2 - You can practice putting or chipping between holes unless stated by committee.
@ukaszHorodecki10 жыл бұрын
Rule 7-2 A player must not make a practice stroke during play of a hole. Between the play of two holes a player must not make a practice stroke, except that he may practise putting or chipping on or near: a. the putting green of the hole last played, b. any practice putting green, or c. the teeing ground of the next hole to be played in the round, provided a practice stroke is not made from a hazard and does not unduly delay play ( Rule 6-7). Strokes made in continuing the play of a hole, the result of which has been decided, are not practice strokes. Exception: When play has been suspended by the Committee, a player may, prior to resumption of play, practise (a) as provided in this Rule, (b) anywhere other than on the competition course and (c) as otherwise permitted by the Committee. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE 7-2: Match play - Loss of hole; Stroke play - Two strokes. In the event of a breach between the play of two holes, the penalty applies to the next hole. Note 1: A practice swing is not a practice stroke and may be taken at any place, provided the player does not breach the Rules. Note 2: The Committee may, in the conditions of a competition (Rule 33-1), prohibit: (a) practice on or near the putting green of the hole last played, and (b) rolling a ball on the putting green of the hole last played.

What always gets me is how insistent some people are that their misunderstanding of the rule is right. Case in point, Mark is adamant that it would be a penalty despite no rule even slightly resembling what he says existing.

Buzz's golf in this video is very reminiscent of Rory so far in the Open. He's using golf clubs, just like Rory, a golf ball, just like Rory, and is playing on a golf course - again, just like Rory. He's a much better player than he showed in this clip and more importantly is a really good sport. Fun and funny vid.

Hi Mark Uuuum - ref the 'practicing' discussion at the end, it is a common mis-conception that 'practice putting' during strokeplay is not allowed BUT rule 7.2 clearly states: -------------------- Between the play of two holes a player must not make a practice stroke, except that he may practise putting or chipping on or near: a. the putting green of the hole last played, b. any practice putting green, or c. the teeing ground of the next hole to be played in the round, provided a practice stroke is not made from a hazard and does not unduly delay play ( Rule 6-7). --------------------- Steve was right - during official comps (especially big events such as you would have played as an amatuer and on the Tour!) they invoke a 'local rule' by committee that bans it to speed up play - but generally it is allowed in the rules as above.And of course during match-play events (eg Ryder Cup) the pace of play is quicker, so the Tours 'allow' practice as per the above rule. Everyday is a school day! Buzzman IS in the right job! :) :)

Alright, for the record, I KNOW Buzzman is a quality player. I've seen him make eagles and plenty of birdies on these videos. I am sure he could beat 95% of the knuckleheads on here making comments about his game. I am sure all of us who play this great game have had moments on the course where nothing at all seems to go right and cannot catch a break.

You're wrong Mark, you can practice on the green you've just played in strokeplay. Maybe the rule has changed? 7-2. During Round A player must not make a practice stroke during play of a hole. Between the play of two holes a player must not make a practice stroke, except that he may practice putting or chipping on or near: a. the putting green of the hole last played, b. any practice putting green, or c. the teeing ground of the next hole to be played in the round, provided a practice stroke is not made from a hazard and does not unduly delay play (Rule 6-7). Strokes made in continuing the play of a hole, the result of which has been decided, are not practice strokes. Exception: When play has been suspended by the Committee, a player may, prior to resumption of play, practice (a) as provided in this Rule, (b) anywhere other than on the competition course and (c) as otherwise permitted by the Committee.

shouting "what have you got?" at someone when they are just starting their backswing is not appropriate and sets a bad example for people watching. Of course Steve should start his routine again, but he is too good natured to complain. Fact is Buzzman is a good player when Mark is not there. I dont know how anyone can put up with someone who talks to you when your hitting the ball.
@MarkCrossfield10 жыл бұрын
oh Garth such a funny comment. Buzza knows he is going to be asked what club he understands he is making a picture and audio production. but you are right Buzza can play. Buzza is +6 after 6 holes then after 14 he is +5. For 7 holes he is -1. anyone who stuggles to see a guy how hits it 290 off the tee and stay around par after the start he had as someone who can play maybe needs to look at there game. You are correct Buzz can play.

cammon Buzza, we see tour professionals play much worse than this every tournament!!! and your not on tour! I follow Joost (like in post) Luiten (like in loud) and he posted an 81 on the first round of the open, and much worse on the US open and the Masters. Actually playing is his full time job. But he also won on the European tour and earns a million euros + every year, he's got sponsors and plays at the Masters and the Open and the US open, and all over the world soooooo... yeeeees... you should probably look for a job in vegetables, like grocery? :)
