Always happy to hear someone rail against the "for better/higher/mid-handicapper" guff. Top five irons of 2019 for Mid handicappers? ugh. I'm currently a pretty awful golfer, but I play Titleist MBs because they make me happy when I look down at them and inspire me to practice more. Can an impulsive and inconsistent striker play blades? Yep! They'll have fun and still be an impulsive and inconsistent striker!
@bengreen12625 жыл бұрын
gretchman Interesting about MB s - the question has been answered that power bats do not work for any one less than 75mph ish .So standard lift MBs work as the sweet spot is focused on.

This has been annoying me for a while - well spotted, Tom. Also: Pythagoras won the Greek Open in 540 BC with a record score of 290 (rounds of 8^2, 9^2, 9^2, and 8^2). He also proved that it is better to leave the flagstick in the hole for putts 2559 years before Bryson DeChambeau.

Awesome video.. I don't know which one I would like the look of.. I've always liked long irons but I'm learning to appreciate hybrids.. Will definitely keep this in mind as I move forward in my fittings this spring. I would love to see Rory join the Hybrid Army.. A little bulge and roll.. Maybe a more iron like hybrid would be more user friendly for him.

Love my 21 degree hybrid...it's a Nike and has a Project X 6.0 graphite shaft. I've recently played 9 holes with it and used it from the tee to the green on par 5 and 4s and longer par 3. It's such a versatile club. I'm seriously considering the Cobra one length hybrid version. I've heard tons of positive things about it...being that I'm only 5'7", the shorter club should fit me well. I did try the single length irons but the demo set had Regular flex shafts (I had only recently switched from XS to S on my irons) and I had trouble controlling dispersion both ways...a recipe for disaster as you well know. I'll have to go back and re-watch the video that you did on the Cobra single length hybrid...I remember that you and Dan both gave it a thumbs up.

Hey Mark! Think you're on holiday and this is auto-posting, but on the off-chance you see it, THANK YOU for all of the great content! I hardly watch much TV anymore cuz I can just go to your channel and watch your reviews, discussion of pertinent golf topics, or "muppet golf" that I enjoy because it reminds me of all the banter I enjoy with my main golf blokes. Anyway, to my other main point, do you plan on reviewing Hogan's Ft. Worth "Black" irons? I think you did their original Ft. Worth 15's when they came out, but I highly encourage you to get your hands on a a few of the Black series as they are INCREDIBLE!! I've been a Hogan guy since 2004 and just reluctantly retired my FTX Apexes, and I'm so happy I did! My only regret is not buying these new Hogan irons when they first came out! They feel so good and they are much more forgiving than their previous generations. Hogan 2.0 is for real braaahh!! :-)

Well said Dan! Absolutely all to do with personal preference for looks. I play of 13 but have an Apex hybrid (last model); simply because I don’t like the look of the bigger hybrids. I can hit my Apex as well as any other hybrid and feel I can work it better, however it wouldn’t stop me swapping if I found something worked better for the numbers I want
@Slymax955 жыл бұрын
I stayed away from the Apex hybrid (previous model) after repeatedly hearing it was a "better player" club and I am a 17 cap. I recently bought one and am really liking it because it doesn't continually go left for me.

I think the debate and contrasting points made in this video are spot on - do you want a club that breaks the trend to fade with longer clubs or do want a continuation? This Apex, and the last Apex hybrid model, are fade biased for sure - I've hit both - although clearly 'better' players Coach and Matt have no problems drawing them without thinking too much about it. After thinking a lot about this actual subject watching Mark for 2 years in these videos as the topic coming up a few times, I personally decided for me, at this moment of recreational golf, that the Drawing Hybrid approach is 'easier' and more flexible. Thus I bought 2 adjustable hybrids - the Callaway Epic 2 Hybrid (that I would argue is exactly Apex Fade biassed and the head looks identical) but has the adjustable loft sleeve with an Upright Draw setting (how I set it up) and it is fantastic. My short Hybrid was the old Taylormade M1 which I set up in the Adjustable Upright Shaft setting - and again it produces the slightest of Draws for me - it was stolen so I replaced it with the Taylormade GapR High 4, set it at 22.5 degrees and use the upright shaft setting + cut 3/4 of an inch. This club is slightly more Draw biassed than my old M1 hybrid so I'm still figuring it out - but I love the flexibility because fading anything is easy to do. Great video.

Does this have have a face with a radius on the height and on the width? Mine (Maltby golf) has the double curvature and it is like a wedge, hit easy it goes straight for the target. It stays straight until I really strike the ball hard, then there is a fade at the end and I miss. Even then it feels really good. I am not sure it will draw. No duck hooks or slices. The players type have the non symmetric shape. Not at all sure it makes a difference.
