The SA on the bf story made me cry, it's horrible how so many people immediately think they're at fault when they're taken advantage of, and the fact that he felt like he betrayed his gf when he was literally assaulted and immediately went to apologize to her is heartbreaking. Sadly this isn’t the only one. There is a very similar post from another man where something similar happened at a bachelor party. I feel awful for this man, but as a person who has been sexually assaulted myself, I know he will get through this. I feel terrible about this whole situation. I really hope he changes his mind about the police report. There’s a chance they will do this to someone else.

Update from Reddit on bra story: To all wondering what happened after yesterday, We have decided that divorce is the only option. Sadly my "thoughtful and understanding" husband fell out of love with me a few years ago and didn't want to hurt me by telling me that. It sucks but things happen and life goes on. I will travel to stay with my family in another country for a few months to get myself together and proceed with a divorce. Jeremy and I have decided to split semi-amicably and I am looking forward to all that is to come with my AA cups and 3 beautiful dogs that I am keeping. As I wrote my AlTA about the bra, that's the last thing thought would happen - that strangers on the Internet would know something I didn't even have a single thought about. So I guess thanks for that.

1:32:11 The boyfriend being sexually assaulted story: I couldn't stop crying and being furious for what happened to OP's boyfriend. I don't blame OP for not understanding because it's really hard to see what to us looks so obvious when you're inside the situation. My cousin's wife who is 15 years older than I am frequently grabs my male parts, rubs herself against me, has climbed into bed with me naked while I was sleeping, climbs on my lap, and wiggles her *ss to try and get me "excited" and several other sexual type things. I could charge her with sexual assault but then I would have to go thru the stigma of a man who can't stop a woman from doing it. What is worse is that she is like 45 years old (and looks it) and she is about 5'2" and 200 lbs. She is basically as wide as she is tall. I am 6'7" 265 lbs of all muscle. Imagine the looks and things the police, courts, etc. would say if I tried to charge her with sexual assault. Not to mention the fallout within the family. Most of the family knows about her antics and basically just tell her to "knock it off" or "stop already" but they do it with smirks. My cousin doesn't really care I think because he has a side chick he spends most of his time with. I am getting to the point that either I will actually punch her and knock her out or I will go no contact with my entire family and see if that gets their attention and realize I am serious when I say I don't want her touching me.

@@thomasjoseph5876 I'm sorry that you're going through this. Rape culture, misogyny and toxic masculinity hurt EVERYONE, regardless of their gender. You shouldn't have to put up with this, and I'm kind of disgusted that nobody else seems to be taking it seriously around you. If you can't bring yourself to report her to the police (and I would never blame someone for that, regardless of their gender), then I would definitely recommend no or low contact. Maybe if they realise that they're going to be seeing a whole lot less of you because she won't stop harassing you, then there might actually be some consequences for her (and them). Just be sure to make it clear every single time that even though you would love to come, you can't, and won't, tolerate the repeated sexual assaults by her and their passive complicity by refusing to properly condemn her actions, and that until she stops and leaves you alone, then you have to protect yourself. If the roles were reversed and a man was doing this to a woman, it would be a whole different response and that's just gross.

@@thomasjoseph5876 Good lord that's a lot of people. 😂 The decision is really more about what is best for you - and if that is, for your mental health, cutting down on the time with them or even going NC, you still should consider doing that. It's not about punishing them or giving them an ultimatum. it's about maintaining your OWN mental health and preventing this person from having any more chances to assault you. If they really don't notice your absence, then even with such a huge family, I feel like that says a lot about them. I'd hope that if a child or sibling of mine kept their distance repeatedly, who is clearly stating they'd love to be there but they don't want to be sexually assaulted, I'd make a bigger issue about not allowing the person responsible for those assaults to continue that behaviour. Either way, it ensures that you won't have to be regularly assaulted. The hypocrisy of them letting this slide when I'm sure they'd be on it harder if it was happening to one of your sisters is just infuriating. I hope that you can find a solution to this and that the rest of your family actually starts stepping up, too.

After a grocery shopping trip, we put the groceries away. I found out my middle child, male, had stolen a candy bar. We packed into the car and went back to the grocery store. Nicely done. If parents don't do things like that, not only will the kid continue to do it but they aren't doing their jobs as parents. Although my friends had this happen to them with their daughter who stole a bottle of inexpensive nail polish and when they went back to the store and talked to the manager, he started yelling at all of them and even called the cops. The cops came and couldn't figure out why they were called and after listening to the manager deride my friends about being poor parents and raising a Klepto, the cops started deriding the manager for being poor at his job and not handling it properly. One of the cops knew the owner of the store and mentioned it to her and she ended up firing the manager. All because of a shoplifted bottle of nail polish by an 11-year-old girl. SMH. Although, I suspect the manager had other issues that led to his firing.

@@rikkitikkitacky Ah yes, the old "guilt by sibling". This is usually caused by parents who wish to blame others for any possible or perceived shortcomings in their parenting. In the absence of a true culprit, the other sibling(s) will usually suffice. I found it fascinating once I became a parent how well or horribly my parents handled things while I was growing up. Usually, when I felt something wasn't fair, it was in reality, great parenting on their part, and when I felt "justified" it was usually poor parenting on their part lol. In your instance, however, it was a combination of both poor (lazy) parenting and an injustice against you. Rather than blaming and correcting the issue with the actual guilty party(s), it is easier to "blanket punish" all of you lol. Ironically, we see that failed approach very often in everyday life, especially at our jobs where a few people will screw up but the entire staff "pays for" their faux pas.

@@squirrel670 I used to have a roommate who was engaged to be married, and so happy and planning the wedding, and hearts and flowers, right up until the day she found out he was already married, with children. Not all "side-pieces" are "home-wreckers." Sometimes, they are being WRECKED, right alongside the spouse. My favorite infidelity stories are when both wronged women find out, get together, and work together to get revenge on the man, and end up as best friends, raising their children together as "sisters," and the children as "cousins."

My grandma went to HR about her supervisor only when she quit/retired. Word got to her that she got the ball rolling on the reports that got the supervisor fired. Probably the worst that happened while she was there (which is why she quit) was when her supervisor denied her time off when she had shingles... She was a housekeeper in a retirement/nursing (the are different departments within the facility) home.

WRONG BRA UPDATE . 😔 Edit2: So I left it yesterday as an open ending as needed to collect my thoughts and understand the next steps, but as I logged in now I received many nice messages and comments, and honestly I am very grateful to you all. To all wondering what happened after yesterday, we have decided that divorce is the only option. As I wrote my AITA about the bra, that's the last thing I thought would happen - that strangers on the Internet would know something I didn't even have a single thought about. So I guess thanks for that.

The moms bday party story: something like this actually happened to me lol. My mom loved to ask for favors and once they were done, she would start a fight with the person helping her (she would always come up with random grievances from years ago to bring up and bitch about) then kick them out and not pay (she would always ask so if it was a big favor then she would pay…they were always big favors) it became a pattern and everyone she used to call for help stopped answering (she only called family as anyone normal would have and HAVE told her to kick rocks) she then called me crying calling me disrespectful and asking why no one will help her in her time of need. I told her cause she’s a con artist that got ppl to remodel her apartment for 1/4 of the cost it would have been and didn’t even pay the 1/4 she owed because it was “family helping family” (she ever helped any of her children and was a extremely neglectful parent) I told her she was dead to us. I haven’t spoken to her in years

@@toniclarke7398 the reality of rape is it's most often a crime with two witnesses. One saying there was consent and the other saying there wasn't. Most rape cases do not get prosecuted as evidence is simply lacking. On top of this, most rape perpetrators is someone the victim knows. When an a allegation like that comes out, between that social group there are now automatically two sides. The victim and the accused. Most people will believe one side or the other, and regardless of whichever they choose their is now a divide in that group. This potentially divides families. Weather the perpetrator gets legally persecuted or not there will be those who believe the victim is ruining the guys life for no good reason. The amount of people that believe this comes down not to the facts, but it's how likely they are to sympathize and believe the victim. Depending on this for coming forward with rape allegations can mean running your life, dividing your family, dividing your friend group. These allegations can follow you for the rest of your life. At first HE didn't even believe he was raped, how likely are the people in his life, the social circle that surrounded a person who believes men cannot be raped, how likely are they to believe him?

@katie85705

His reaction is definitely childish. I went through a similar experience though with my youngest. When I find out I was pregnant his immediate reaction was me to get rid of "it". We had a big fight where he insulted me and well let's just say it was a pretty bad break up. I grew up without ever knowing my father so I figured I'd give it my best shot. I sent him updates throughout the pregnancy. Letting him know how the pregnancy was going, ultrasound pictures how the baby was doing and even the date of the scheduled c-section (I have to have c-sections due to an emergency one with my oldest). I sent pictures of her after she was born, let him know how she was doing and just regular updates. He never responded back until she was 4 months old. He met her shortly after responding and actually started becoming a father. It took another month for him to tell his family who were overjoyed to meet her. Not long after meeting his daughter he ended up with cancer. It was really bad and almost killed him, he was weak and the cancer almost killed him. He went into remission but 2 weeks later it came back and he passed when my daughter was 2 and a half years old. I can now honestly tell my baby girl that her father loved her, I have pictures of them together and she even has a stuffed animal that he gave her that she sleeps with every night. She's now almost 4 and her grandparents, aunt and her aunts uncle love and cherish her. Yes his initial reaction was highly immature and even hurtful but I understand his reasoning behind it. He previously had 2 premature babies that passed away and the mother only let him keep 1 picture of each of them. He also had a son who the mother chose to give to her racist parents. Everytime he went to see his son the grandparents would call the cops on him. He was only 18/19 at the time so he had trouble fighting for custody and eventually gave up. His son thankfully though did find his dad's family shortly after his passing. Me doing my best to let him know about his daughter showed him that I wasn't going to just take her away from him and that I wanted him to be in her life. I have no regrets other than the fact that her father is no longer with us. My heart breaks for them both but at least they got a couple amazing years together.

Also, while I think it’s obvious that she didn’t track him down, he might wonder if their whole relationship was based on false pretenses. Lots of women freak out when they find out, and do not tell their partner 'till they're ready'. Instead of talking to him, she sent him a thread where she states she doesn't need him and kid has two father figures. Charming. He's just found out he's a dad, has missed out on her early years, and .. he's not needed. Doesn't sound like a great situation to dive into. Maybe he will stay no contact, but it's interesting how so many think it's ok for her to casually dismiss the need for him. He just wants to be with other adults that won't question him about everything like the family at home. He wants to feel like the grown up man he is and for him that means working.

Oh. My. God. The "exposure therapy" one makes me burn with frustration. As someone doing exposure for a fear, that's not what it is. Not only was there no mental health professional present, but if there was, this would be malpractice. My care provider emphasized that if I'm having anxiety, I should stop. The point of exposure is to learn that you can experience the scary thing without much distress, so continuing when overly scared can be counterproductive. This family should sue them for practicing medicine without a license, neglect of the child, and emotional damages for worsening the fear and the trauma that comes from being hurt by a caregiver (which legally is what the school and teachers are).

The story about the son who asked the girl out as a prank hit soo damn close to home for me. When i was in highschool, i had quite the crush on my sisters best friend and our next door neighbor. Because she was best friends with my sister, and my neighbor, we had many common friends and hung out together quite often. Although i had never told her, i was sure she knew that i had feelings for her. One day a group of us were hanging out when out of nowhere she asked me "Do you want to be my boyfriend?" I had been trying to grow the courage to ask her out since middle school, and was shocked that she was asking me. It was like a dream come true. I finally managed to stammer out "of course, ive had a crush on you for years". I will never forger her reply... "ok, i just wanted to know" as her and a few of the girls in the group giggled and walked away. It crushed my soul. Feel so sorry for the girl in that story. Im sure it was anything but a joke to her.

You say you would say F.U. to the hospital security guard. But in reality when you are visiting a loved one in need the last thing you will do is say / do anything to slow down the process of getting to them

For the guard story: ITS A HOSPITAL. people are not always going to be cheerful at a hospital. Their loved ones could be seriously hurt or sick in there. They could be going in to say their last goodbye. You cannot deny access based on someone's mood, unless they are causing a huge scene and hurting (physically, or verbally) the people around them. This feels very much like guys pulling the "you would be prettier if you smiled" card, but in a weird power trip kinda way

He was uh hundred percent being a sexist pig who thinks all women have to perform for him like a well trained dog, and was using his position to punish her for not barking on command. I’ve dealt with that plenty of times, as a decent looking gal who’s worked in the medical field for a couple decades. I can’t count all the times some guy has said something about how much prettier I would be if I smiled for them. It’s gross, and an immediate sign that I want nothing to do with that dbag. The irony being that I’m naturally very smiley, so the few times I’m tired from a 12 hr shift or just had to kneel in a puddle of piss or vomit in the ER to place an IV and obviously not smiling some ahole thinks he should call me out for not being perpetually bubbly lol. F off with that.

28:38 My dad was harder on me than my mother. Granted, both of them have their own/other issues, but... you know that trope of "You'll thank me when you're older"? Or "You'll understand when you get older"? Well... at least with my dad, it was true. Not that he was always right but dealing with harsh/real consequences early on on a smaller scale is EXTREMELY helpful and beneficial and, I feel, made me a better person.

Lucas: why is ESH singing the mom praises? No. The husband gave her an a choice. Time living with the son or keeping the marriage. She didn't choose Lucas. ESH buth the order is the husband, mom, and then the OP. Mom can cry into the sunset.

If your wife has to make a sign to keep Mommy out of your bedroom, you are a lousy husband. Mommy needs to get over her crap and get her own life. Plenty of people are widowed and don’t manipulate their kids because “you’re all I have left”. Don’t be shocked when your wife walks away and trades up for someone without Mommy issues.

Ok, on the age difference story. It's not always a bad situation. My husband and I were about the same age as OP and her boyfriend when we started dating. We were married less than a month shy of 33 years. No, we are not divorced. He drowned in his own blood on Easter Sunday. It was very traumatic. He died in my arms. All the images and sounds sometimes jump up out of the blue. My therapist says it's how PTSD works. All the time. So don't even think it's age that is the problem or that all people with that age difference are hiding something like that.

2:24:51- yeah... everytime i hear this story, that stands out immediately... there is NOTHING about the behavior OP experienced from the new son-in-law OR his parents that would indicate that they had ANYTHING to do with the situation between the sisters... in fact, them SPECIFICALLY wanting to talk to OP and her OTHER daughter makes me suspect that the bride has been doing everything in her power to keep that meeting from happening, and that the wedding was the one time and place that she couldn't...

It was her choice in staying with her husband to the detriment of her relationship with her son.

Cheaters usually keep cheating. Really sucks the son had to find out his dad is actually a massive turd the way he did but it honestly needed to happen, and better sooner than later. Therapy cans & does help a lot.

I can't believe that security guard had the audacity to comment on why someone entering the hospital wasn't smiling, first off no-one is required to smile unless they are working, in your private time it's your business only, secondly most people entering the hospital are there for either a visit to a sick loved one or because someone was dying or because they themselves are sick.

Licensed insurance agent here. That woman with the snake has a very good case to sue. You CANNOT practice therapy without being a licensed physician/therapist. And you must have gaurdian consent to do therapy with a child. That is just so so so insane. The fact that the school acted in bad faith and probably lied about it, means their liability insurance most likely WILL NOT cover any lawsuits. lol sue the hell out of them.
