Some kids don't go home because they do not have good relationships with their parents. Not everyone is lucky as you are.

+Ulises Garcia Exactly. There are plenty of reasons why someone doesn't want to come home, especially when you are gay and dealing with homophobic parents.

+Ulises Garcia My parents weren't always this cool.. believe me. Some parents come around and others don't, I was lucky to have understanding parents but remember, friends can also be family.. I suppose I should have specified in the video. If your parents truly don't accept or support you, obviously home life will be different or non-existent, I get that. I feel for that. This is what drives me to vlog.. if by sharing my life with others will somehow help them in any way, big or small, that's incredible.

i mean maybe if everyone had parents like yours they'd want to go home too but a lot of us dont. and the place we grew up and the people we grew up with never felt like home. there's no amount of money in the world that you could pay me to go back to them. they dont love me, they dont think about about like you say, there was no support. im so happy for you mark. i love seeing your family bc it's great knowing that your kind of parents do exist. but for a lot of us our choice not to go home is the best choice for us. i have found Home several states away from where i grew up. my Family is who i've met since getting out. happy monday mark. thanks for the videos :)

You're very fortunate to have such a supportive family. My mother passed away when I was 18 years old and my father disowned me, so even though I don't personally have that support, it's definitely something I aspire to one day give to my own children. Keep up the good work!

You can't forget where you came from, yes. Am I grateful that they brought me into this world? Yes. Does it take away the fact that I had a rough home life, and childhood? No. It's not that we forget where we came from, it's just that sometimes we just get tired of being punching bags. When I moved out of our family house I felt way better, free, relived and safer. I do understand what you're saying, but it does not apply to everyone's life but I'm so happy you have a great family. You're so lucky, and so am I because I still have one even if I can't count on them, at least they never threw me out. But congrats to your parents! :)

Well, Mark, not everyone hit the jackpot for parents like you did. You were and are extremely fortunate to have the parents and family that. Yes, it's important to let the people you love know, but sometimes family is the family you choose, not the one you were born with.

I must say that one of the things I noticed about you when I started watching your videos was the tight bond you had with your family and how nice they all seemed in your videos. I can empathize with the fact that you feel that a chapter in your young life is coming to and end. Not because your family is changing, but because the place you always called home is disappearing. Your intro is most revealing and appreciated, at least by me. Cheers from Tennessee!

Home is where you make it. The house is just the architecture we'll use to remind us of good (and sometimes sad) times. It's awesome to have a place that holds so many memories because there are people out there who may have never been able to call a place home. Now you get another house to call home and experience new times in! It's great, congrats to your parents.

I will be graduating college in May - to save money, I've been living at home throughout college. My Mom, Dad and I are thinking about relocating soon after, leaving behind a home we've been in for nearly 20 years. It is both sad and exciting, but the move opens up to new adventures! Your Dad is correct; Home is where family(be that friends or relatives), love, and the heart is. That is what I define as "home". I'm glad your move has been well, and I hope you all flourish in great memories there at the new Miller residence. ♥

First, I think you'd be a great dad! Second, you talking about measuring one's parenting definitely hit me in the feels Mark! I definitely have to agree because I was blessed both as an adult and a child to have a lot of friends from different walks of life and was able to witness how they interact with their parents. I could definitely tell the happy ones from the ones who craved to get away and never go back. It makes me think about how I was parented and how I want to parent my future little babies. Hopefully my kids will want to come see me on the weekends and thing whenever they move out or go off to college! Thanks for great video!!! Much love from Texas!!!

Some of my friends give me shit for it, and it baffles me that they don't understand. My entire family lives in Central CA, and when I go home it brings out the best in me. My Dad died a year ago last month. My Mom now lives in assisted living. The house I grew up in was sold last September. Im one of those kids that left and seldom went back. Going home was never easy because growing up in that house was never easy. My parents and I had some rough times when I was a kid so although it got easier as time went on it was still uncomfortable to return to my home town. Now that Dad is gone I tried to make a more valiant effort to make it home more often to see Mom but I find that Im starting to slip back into my old routine. Its easy to do. I love my parents, there were moments here and there where I knew that they had my back, but I wish the bad memories and rough moments that that town and that place represents would fade away. Still, even after all these years they really haven't. I lost another aunt a week ago. I'm down to my Mom and one other aunt. I wish that I could erase one part of my past and keep the one that I value but, it doesn't work that way I guess. I've lost so dang much in these past two years and it gets harder and harder to hang on to whats left. I guess that's what you try and do, though, hang on to what's left. Originally I watched your videos for your great photography and wonderful choices in music. The videos you show of your life with your parents and your boyfriend gives guys like me a glimpse into the life that a lot of us have in our dreams. You're a lucky boy, Mark. Be thankful for the feelings that you have and the memories that you've garnered. And thanks again for sharing them with the world.

I live about two hours away from them now and every single chance I get I'm always on the road headed home. I can't imagine me not going home and spending as much time with my family as I can. My mother always told us when we were younger that they are not going to be around forever. I never understand why or what she meant by this until I got older and family members started to pass. Here in Brazil things are a little different. It's not very unusual to find people that still live with their parents after reaching adult life, many people even after getting married still live with their parents. My parents are divorced and I go to college in another state, but I go home (mom's house) whenever I can. I'm very dependable of my mother, we're very close, but sometimes I feel I take her for granted, like I should appreciate her more, because she ain't gonna live forever. You're awesome Mark.

The definition of the word "Family" has AWESOMELY developed into a very colorful spectrum. While it doesn't necessarily have to be blood family, or where you grew up. It can also now mean your friends are family, Your community is family. Etc. Not every kid can go back and is as lucky as a lot of us are. But its awesome to see that we are creating our own families. I LOVE going home. I am lucky like you. But home is also different for all of us. As long as where you go, you are happy. It doesn't matter what the definition of your family is. :) God....I'm high

While I was so busy with my own life my contact with my mum and dad decreased very much. I regret that now every day as I should have put more effort into this. My mum passed away 15 months ago and I am heartbroken now. Please ALL make the effort and find the time to talk or visit your close ones as you never now what is going to happen. "Home is where the heart is" - Pliny the Elder I believe that home is where you can find your family, and family are the people that are closer to you, those people aren't always your relatives, but the ones that ease your mind, make you feel safe and wanted, the ones that can see you at your best, at your worst, and chose to stay with you through all, the ones that make you truly happy.

When it comes to family I love watching how much you guys love each other. The problem is that there are some people who want a family so bad, but don't have one to go home to. I agree with the points you made about how there are people that do not want much to do with their family when it is such an important thing, but try to remember that some kids come from families of abuse and wish that they had a family to go home to and don't; I know I do. For those who do not have parents that love them I think it is nice to see that there are families that are centered around love and I know that it helps to remind me that if I am patient I can create one of my own some day :)

It is nice to see you share your true feelings, and that you are in touch with them. You realize how precious time is with the people you love. Ethan is so fortunate to have someone like you in his life, I would like to wish the both of you a long happy and healthy life together.

I really appreciate the support I get from my parents and often keep in contact. I don't know where I'd be without them.

I am a few years decades older than you and Ethan. I wanted you to know HOW LUCKY you are to have the relationship and family , meaning your parents and your entire family. Its just incredible that your family understands your sexual orientation and are fine with that. When I was growing up..that was totally unacceptable with my family and the place I grew up in. So, be VERY thankful for the life you are living as many of us older people out here NEVER had that opportunity as you and Ethan have. Thank your higher power everyday for the blessings bestowed upon you both. You and Ethan are very lucky and very blessed to be in the position you are at. Good Luck and stay focused. You are two people that I have a lot of respect for with what you are doing and how you show us all your life everyday. Thanks for your videos...!!!

Rusty, I to am much older than Mark is, and I know exactly what you are talking about. There was no way I could come out 50 years ago without being sent to see a shrink, but thanks to people like Mark and all the brave young You Tubers who refuse to keep being gay a secret, I was finally able to come out in my 60's. They will be able to enjoy a full and free life in a way I was never allowed.

I enjoyed this video. You are lucky to have a loving relationship with your family, and it is good that you encourage your audience to do the same.

I'm so extremely happy to see this more vulnerable side of you in your videos and it's really sad to see your old house go. No more summers by the lake but hey! on to new adventures! Some of us grew up without parents and I love to see people like you who appreciate them so much! Stay in their lives as much as you can because you are right, they aren't going to be here forever and believe me when they're gone, it will devastate you but you'll have amazing memories to look back on.

I honestly love seeing strong family relationships. I think it's one of the strongest sources of positivity that we can have. And of course it might be the family you build rather than the one into which you're born, but it still always makes me smile.

Home is where I am. My parents died years ago. So many of my friends died during the early days of the Plague Years - early 80s.

I agree but not everyone gets the chance to grow up with a loving & supporting, sometimes we need to part away from the things thats trying to hold us down however never forget your roots because like any thing, the deeper the roots, the harder it will be to knock you down :)

I understand about home. I have that same relationship with my family. I'm surprised you didn't talk any about what it felt like leaving where you grew up. When my Dad and step-mom moved out of my childhood home, it was so sad! I cried going through it one last time, all the empty rooms. I still can't drive past the house without feeling it in my heart! Things were a little different, my Mom died when I was 15 so it was like a part of me was leaving her behind I guess. But you are blessed to have that "home" wherever your Mom and Dad are. :)

My parents moved after I joined the navy. I never got to back to my old home, but I always visit what is my new home whenever I can take leave🤗 I would be lost without my folks, even though it's hard for them to be supportive of my sexually. The unconditional love you get from your family is truly beautiful.

Not everyone gets the warm and comforting feeling when they are with their parents. So most find home as a place they feel like they belong and are warm and happy to be the moment they walk inside the door, or on the driveway.
