The leafs changing in the background makes me miss Oklahoma, (but just a little bit) I’ve been here in the Philippines, 14 months now. It has been a great experience.

You will have a little adjustment being your first time living overseas but some of the speed bumps can be exciting LOL After 3.5 years here in Pampanga, I don't miss anything in the states except for our kids and family/ friends. One thing for me is that I will never call it is a "permanent " move as we never know what life may bring and may lead down another path. Anyways man safe travels over!

I love fall season, the leaves.. and the sound when you walk over dried leaves.. I’m not American but I was there for a few years.. our stay was pleasant, wish I could go back..I’ll travel more if ever I get the chance, so many beautiful places. We have the advantage when it comes to beaches, but US has its own beauty, and with so many states..lots of places to see

Great you're not bashing USA. I'm born and raised in the US also. Fiancé just got here in Sept. on K1 visa. We're planning on 10 yrs to move to the Philippines. So, we're on the planning stages but like everything in life... it's always changing. I'm sure it's bitter sweet to leave the US, hopefully you'll be coming back for a visit. Good luck on your move and more videos of the Philippines. Take care and safe travels !!!

I had 64 years in America. Funny, I didn't get that same feeling of being up on a diving board as you described. Was I somewhat delusional at that time? Now I'm here almost 3 years and reality has set in. I too had left America because I didn't want to work anymore at 64 to supplement my social security and who knows how long we have on this planet. I also wasn't sure I could retire comfortably in America but in the Philippines, I could. So I took the plunge. But looking back now I think I could have retired in America if I just remained single. Dont sell your house yet until you've lived in the Philippines for one or two years. For me, the United States is still the greatest country on earth. You'll never experience the colors of Fall and the crisp Autumn air or the fresh smell of Springtime anymore. Plan on hot, humid, sweltering, sticky weather every single day of the year. Never any relief except for aircon. America is a beuatiful country and you wont realize what you had until you no longer have it. I feel most people take for granted their American way of life. Good luck on your journey and have a safe trip.

I didn't appreciate what we have in the US, and I planned to build a house in Mindanao. Five visits later, I understand why all the Filipinos I have known in the US never speak of going back except for funerals and weddings. During the last visit we got chased on the highway to Bislig by highway robbers or kidnappers. We escaped them in a Toyota van, only because they were on the typical small engine motorcycles. It's more fun in the Philippines, for a few visits.

@jamesrecknor6752 Wow. I have no plans to go to Mindanao. You are correct in saying most filipinos that move to America generally don't return to the Philippines if only to visit or for a special occasion. When you think about it, many people are willing to sacrifice their lives in order to get the opportunity to live in the land of the free and the brave. And yet, here we are giving up our life to live in the greatest country on earth. An opportunity that was handed to us at birth only to squander it through the fallacy that was presented to us by certain vloggers. I plan to return hopefully during the coming year and only to visit the Philippines. When you are up in age, you want life to be easier. Unfortunately, I've only experienced that things only become harder in a "developing/3rd world country".

It's all about location location location. Know what your needs are, and then think about your wants to help you stay within your budget. Being able to live as close as you can to how the locals live will save you a lot of money. Some people just can't handle the local cuisine, but i have come to find that with the right spices, you can make your palette happy . Everything is an adjustment in life, so just enjoy the ride on this great adventure .

The longest time that I spent in the Philippines was for ten months from December 2019 to October 2020. I went through the first part of the pandemic and through the eruption of Taal. Our house is about 12 miles (19km) north of the main crater. That would probably be enough for most people to pack it up and leave but not me. I love it in Silang, Cavite where we have our house. I took my dog with me so I went through the same thing bringing a pet into the Philippines and there was so much to do in such a short time. We'll be back in the Philippines just in time for Christmas

I don’t know where you are going to locate here in the Philippines but all I can say, strictly from just me. When you get here leave your expectations in the USA, even with technology and everything you are coming to a place that is 20 .years behind. Behind in everything from education, economics, banking, business, development, etc…….. I am 56 and have been here for 20 years, with the good comes the bad. Learn how to navigate everything, because nothing is the same compared with the us. Don’t ever trust anyone’s advice on how to do anything, go look for yourself or seek legal advice from at least 3 different lawyers. Don’t rush into anything and make sure you look closely at any contracts you get. This is a 2 party conceit country so you can not record your conversations without both sides saying ok on the recording. If you do not get legal advice you will be on your own. The legal system is slow and will take years to settle most cases. The Philippines is a beautiful country but it is not perfect! It is not for everyone and 85% of the people who come here end up returning for all kinds of reasons including health care, money problems, scams, corruption, etc…….. wishing you and your family good luck and hope everything works out for you all!!

Why do ppl project their life needs and wants onto others. Rember lil over 100 years ago, america was similar to the 3rd world countries of today.. Ppl left their country of origin for a chance of something different and possible better. His dollar of usd is 58 of their peso. Can do way more with the trade-off of sort of America Quality lol. What the heck is that really. Over 40% of americans can't even afford housing. Over 60% struggle to put food on the table. Major companies shuttling down out the blue making ppl unemployed. Drugs at a all time high. Where's the Quality really.

This is what I mean by poor decisions. Move to American owned land during a potential hot war with china. There going to ask Americans to board a plane and get out. May be a short visit bud. Or stay there and suffer with Phillipines. Typically when america kicks into high gear when In war, it's scorched earth.

Thanks for sharing your application experience to get an entry permit for Chanel. We have a house to sell and plan on buying a one-way ticket (business class so my husband is able to sleep). This is indeed a faith journey especially for my American husband. We visited the Philippines for 6 weeks last summer and we both loved it. May God bless your trip back to the Philippines!
