I 1st wrote a critical comment about one engineering aspect of this winch but after reading some of the ignorant comments I decided to change my tune to a supportive one!! I think you guys that come up with this design did a pretty damn great job especially for your age but the really impressive thing about what you did was → Show ingenuity to create a solution to a problem! Now that FUCKIN ROCKS!!! Yeah! I am an old 43 year old grouchy fucking conservative but I am proud of you guys!

My friends built a winch alot like this last summer, these are badass for learning to hit rails and ramps.
@bosdad711 жыл бұрын
great idea and job, this would also work great for fetching logs out of the woods.
@Ricklamstead11 жыл бұрын
hardware is more than likely not strong enough for log winching, this is a fast and light winch

In a word, the how to build portion of the video...EXCELLENT!!

Fantastic video...very well done and very informative. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Could weld 2 forward spikes 4-5 in long that goes into the ground like spurs use either Harrow teeth from farm supply or pieces of rebar it`s very strong .
@texmurphy720511 жыл бұрын
This is cool man. my only suggestion is to move the rollers side to side that wind the amsteel on the reel so it is even windings. You could use a small electric motor on a threaded rod, maybe a modified car window or other junkyard finds. Keep up the good inventions
@daliks12 жыл бұрын
you should place the winch on a bridge or something high. the difference is amazing, especially if you are hitting a ramp/kicker so it doesnt pull you down but up.. and a non stretch, thin line is mandatory too! i use dyneema..
@hoodeani42012 жыл бұрын
Why did you use cut off wheels on your spool their brittle and weak compared to mild steel or even wood? Seemed to work okay for your purpose though great job and nice video.
@DiEtRyInGBRAM12 жыл бұрын
do you think this would work with a lawn mower engine without a tourqe converter but just a sprocket at where de blade would normally be
@kevtyler6912 жыл бұрын
hi guys what the function of the 2 grinder disks? cheers
@hockeyduede12 жыл бұрын
Sweet I am definately gonna make one, but doe you mount it, in the ground or is it heavy enough to stay on its place?!

you can take winches places that boats cant go like shallow or narrow water or creeks or fountains and pools
@zeroskater72012 жыл бұрын
So I finished my winch. It has a 212cc predator engine, 10 tooth counter shaft sprocket, 54 tooth rear sprocket. It has been working pretty well except that the rope seems to drag in the water a lot. it is a poly rope and it floats but it seems like there isnt a consistent pull. Would changing to a better rope increase consistency? I'm using a torque converter as well.
@MrDisneyCollector12 жыл бұрын
how fun is this!!!!! What a great idea, that looks so cool. I'd love to do that. Great way to ski and not need a boat...or sharks....
@dhutch200010 жыл бұрын
What sort of ratio have you been using on the engine and drum sprockets? I guess that ties up with the drum diameter and engine rpm to give you your cable speed, but what sort of cable speed are you aiming for?
@GarnettM12 жыл бұрын
All you need to make a frame is an old tiller motor & frame practicly built already add secondary clutch -Or old sled body .
@sethlangford16511 жыл бұрын
hey i recently just built a winch. I first put a centrifugal clutch it worked great but wanted to be able to deep water start so i put a torque converter. Ever since i put the torque converter its way slower then before. Any body have this problem before???
@thehuhuSB12 жыл бұрын
you should lower engine rpm or use heavyer rolles for automatic cluch
@zeroskater72012 жыл бұрын
Alright man thanks. Yeah, I cheaped out on the rope (20 dollar rope) maybe when I have a little money to blow I'll buy a real winch rope. What size engine do you have?
@MarkJaxonMedia12 жыл бұрын
you can get a longer one and adjust your plans or leave it slightly long or cut it. no big deal.
@tueulator12 жыл бұрын
I was wondering why you used the abrasion wheels???

i was thinking the same thing but other than that it looks awesome. great for areas that are too small to fit a boat
@dreweflin12 жыл бұрын
do you have a 9hp or 6.5? I live in colorado and have a ben horan ridiculous winch and I think because of higher altitude it doesn't do nearly as well... trying to figure out a way to beef it up for some extra speed, I was also thinking about getting a bigger sprocket in the front, any thoughts?
@jaysaw81519 жыл бұрын
pretty great build for what your using it for....iv got a bull dozer winch its nowhere near high speed like that
@escapadechannel83798 жыл бұрын
+redsaw 90 Get so gear to top up the speed you can literally get any speed with some good gears

I like the video bro, but what's with the grinder blades? why not just get a peice of plywood and cut a circle with a jigsaw?

yes you do, or else you wont be able to add much rope. The grinder blades work like a backstop on either side of the spool.
@rheniformer12 жыл бұрын
That's very impressive, I'll never build one but you video was interesting and your machine works great!

@weldcerts8 жыл бұрын
Welding galvanized will make you feel a little flu like but it absolutely will not kill you. I've welded large projects some of which took a few months of welding on this material with no serious short or long term effects. You guys need to quit scaring the kids.

pepee mizera a centrifugal clutch won't pull you out of the water, but if it's only to pull you from sitting onto the water, then it'll work

Andrew Kammerer Use a smaller wheel, it will do it
@andrewe469 жыл бұрын
smaller wheels? Spool or sprocket not sure what you are meaning my spool is quite small.
@wakewinchbronomi8849 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Kammerer whats the ratio between the tav and the spool sproket it should be 10/55 or 10/50 but in your case go with 10/55 or 10/60 for a 6.5 hp engine if you doesn't have the torque to pull you out.
@danielbargas337710 жыл бұрын
Get the predator 212 6.5hp from harbor freight for only $100
@andrewe469 жыл бұрын
I tested mine today with 6.5 and it's pretty weak. Switching to 11
@billschulz17289 жыл бұрын
Andrew Kammerer You need to upgrade it you should get plenty of horse from it. Take out the governor, torque converter, upgrade the intake and exhaust and it should rip.
