My contention is that why the girl who aspires to become an actress should yield to carnal desires of film wallas. What is the necessity to accept the adjustment? Belated complaints will be of no avail at all. As Dr. Kantharaj aptly said, every sexual gratification happens with the full consent of co-artistes. The overall interview of Dr. Kantharaj can be rated as purely rubbish, sexist and patriarchal in nature. From the beginning, he declares that all women had sexual relationship with almost all the members of the film crew. He states that this is the customary practice of the cinema industry all over the world. But why Mr.Kantharaj never criticizes the men in the cinema industry who actually insists those sexual favours? He alleges that women had slept with the men of the film industry and after that when their popularity diminshes, they are accusing those men they'd worked with as guilty of sexual harassment. Fine! Let it be as he says so. Now the problem here is that how Mr. Kantharaj manipulates this issue by alleging that only those so called women who slept with those men are at fault. Those men who seeks sexual favours are not guilty of anything. According to Kantharaj, men would ask for sexual favours when women come to film industry or any industry where men is in top position. It is those women who must choose their future. They may either give into the sexual favours of men or quit their career. Let us consider that those women who agree to sleep with the men are morally derogatory in nature. Ok, what about those men who slept, molested or sexually harassed those women. Are they holy? Are they morally perfect person. In fact, seeking sexual favour by exerting undue influence over other women is also an offence as per the Indian law. Let us assume that women are the culprits in this issue according to Kantharaj. Why Mr. Kantharaj is silent about those men who slept with those women by abusing their dominant position in the film industry? He says that Mohan Lal's reputation is at stake by a women who falsely accuses him. If that's the case, why Mohan Lal files a defamation suit against that women, say for 10 crores or 50 crores or even 100 crores. Is Mohan Lal doesn't have any legal advisors or is he so poor that he cannot approach the court. The same rests with the other actors who had been accused of molestation or sexual harassment as of now. Why the alleged actors do not file a defamation suit against those women actresses who accuse them? Besides, Kantharaj insists that the name of the women must be disclosed in public. If the name is revealed can he assure that she will be safe, her reputation be protected, her livelihood be safeguarded? In fact, the law gives protection to the victims of sexual survivors that their name shall not be disclosed in public domain. If Mr. Kantharaj desperately wants the victims name, then why does he not speak Actress Bhavana issue? Who is guilty in that case? Does she got justice? Is that case over? Will you give credit to her courage of lodging a complaint? You would still say that she is a slut. This is the kind of name you would give to woman of her kind. Why are you refraining from saying that those men who seek sexual favours are womanizers? You are accusing a woman as prostitute, concubine, slut etc. Moreover, Mr. Kantharaj boasts that he is a sexologist and he had even deposed before the courts regarding rape and sexual harassment cases. Well, I'd like to bring to your notice, Mr.Kantharaj that the Supreme Court of India in a catena of cases had highlighted and strongly criticize the Indian medical jurisprudence when it comes to examination of rape victims or survivors by the medical doctors. The court even went to the extent saying that many medical doctors are archaic in nature and the medical syllabus itself seems to be primitive when it comes to submission of medical reports regarding rape cases. One such example is the abolition of virginity test/two finger test conducted by the medical practitioners while examining rape victims in a SC judgment delivered in 2019. I don't know whether Mr. Kantharaj is truly an expert in sexologist or he intentionally wants to hide this lacuna in medical jurisprudence. In all his interviews, Kantharaj's only perspective that "men will be men". Then why are you speaking Dravidian ideology? Why are you saying about Periyar? Is this Periyar's ideology? In fact, this was the scenario in the 1920's when women enter any field in the society. Be it a teacher, doctor, lawyer, engineer etc.. If Mr. Periyar did not oppose this patriarchal mindset in the tamil society, women would not have come this far. They would not have been in any field just like now. Society has progressed a bit now compared to the last century. Women are courageous now to express their sexual harassment in the work places. Laws are evolving according to the changing mindset in the society. That's why women are coming out of their home and working in several fields now. If people like Kantharaj continues to spread this kind of propaganda, narrative and justifies the sexual gratification of males in the public spheres including film industry, we will be reverted back to the early stone age where men can have sex with as many women as they want. Kantharaj will justify that stone age period also that it's how nature works and it is the law of nature that men would ask for sexual favours to any women and only the women who sleeps with the men are morally low persons in the society and those men who seeks sexual favours are holy, righteous and pious. So, Mr. Kantharaj, what has happened so far in the film industry may be true but the old, retired and new generation female artists are looking to change this male dominated society. They are making a progressive step towards change so that future female artists may not get affected or harassed and have a safe atmosphere in the film industry from those sexual predators. You, Mr. Kantharaj must be ashamed that you follow Dravidian ideology, Periyar but your mind is full of typical male dominated ideas just as those of RSS partisans. And finally, in all the interviews who anchored Kantharaj are full of dumb people who neither have historical knowledge, legal knowledge, literary knowledge nor sociological knowledge. The questions put to Mr. Kantharaj by the anchors are dumb, simple, ineffective and they do not have the knack to counter his archaic, primitive male dominated ideology.
