Pontianak is a vibrant commercial town on the west coast of Kalimantan. The city was founded in 1770 by the Arab Syarif Abdul Rahman. In the city you can still see buildings that have been built in his mission.

Indonesia is a very diverse place. The lady at 5:27 looks related to the chef at my old workplace but many others look like from all over south-eastern Asia.

I'm surprised because...most Indonesians are muslims and I thought that they would hate non-muslim westerners etc.I never travel to java,sumatra.....I stick to visiting only Bali,Flores and Sulawesi utara/manado...since they are mostly christian/hindu and therefore I normally think that they probably wouldn't have any hatred whatsoever towards westerners!!!
@huda-ih9mz5 жыл бұрын
+Douglas Freeman Muslims don't hate Christians. It's just the media that portray a distorted image of Muslims. If we hate you we would never go to your countries you know. It's a sin for Muslims to hate someone based on religion, skin, race. We should judge only on character. That's it. It always make me smile when Christians think that we hate them. My best friend is actually christian. We are all one. And we should live in peace together.

So interesting. That could go on and on. What a richness of food. By the time our markets get some of the more rarer (for us) fruits, they are tired. The fruits, that is. The people seem to enjoy what they're doing.

just finished watching this video and i just thought that you might be mistaken. it's not in Malaysia, i think it's in Indonesia. it can be recognized from some signs. First, the food and beverages brands name; 'Lele', Torabika, Mie Goreng, Gudeg Jogja, Warkop Sumiati and so on are Indonesian food names. The motorbikes i saw also familiar in Indonesia. Second, at 4:51 there was a woman saying, 'Bisa Bahasa Indonesia ndak pak?' which means 'Do you speak Indonesian, Sir?'. Third, at 16:45 there were a schoolgirl and schoolboy wearing a brown uniform which is a 'Pramuka' uniform, it's one of familiar uniform worn by most Indonesian students. And the girl also says 'dua ribu' means 'two thousand' and the father tried to give the money which is in Rupiah. Forth, at 11:42 there was an Indonesian police officer wearing brown uniform. Malaysian police has black uniform, not brown. Fifth, at 16:10 it says 'WC Umum' for the toilet sign. Actually Malaysian people say 'Tandas' for Toilet, not WC Umum. And finally at 2:16 the plate number on a motorbike begins with 'KB' which is the area code for Kalimantan Barat (West Kalimantan), a province of Indonesia located in Borneo island. So, i think you were just mistaken to name the title. hope you might consider it and remember whether it was in Kinabalu or maybe in Pontianak. just my opinion. keep up the good work.
@TBckap69 жыл бұрын
Though the title is already renamed, it was a very interesting read, thanks! Discovered that "dua" is very similar to double, duo etc in many western languages.
@yusufismail919 жыл бұрын
in Indonesian, 'dua' means 'two'
@sammanalili98116 жыл бұрын
in the Philippines, two thousand is duha Ka libo,,quite nearer to duna ribu,,,after all the Philippines was influenced long ago by indonesians and Malaysians etc

Gosh they must get tired, on their feet all day with no place to sit for most workers. And there doesn't seem to be a lot of shoppers for all that perishable food and competition. I'm surprised smoking is permitted around the exposed food. Wish them well. Hard work.
