Walking in Palu ( Indonesia)

Palu is a chartered city on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, 1,650 kilometers (1,030 miles) northeast of Jakarta, at the mouth of Palu River. It is the capital of the province of Central Sulawesi of a long, narrow bay. Because of its sheltered position between mountain ridges, the climate is unusually dry.

After witnessing the horrors of the Tsunami on TV I looked for a video of Palu to see what it was like before and found this wonderful gem. What a beautiful place it was. RIP to all those who lost their lives and thoughts and prayers to those who lost loved ones, homes and businesses and now have to rebuild their lives.

The deadliest part of Palu earthquake is not just the tsunami alone. It was the liquefaction of the soil which triggered by the earthquake. The moment I'm writing this, it is estimated about 150,000 people are still buried few meters underground along with their houses in Palu. Pray for them.

Of all the billions of videos on the youtube, yours are unique. I am hooked. They are almost hypnotic. I admire your choices - the way you rarely move your camera left or right, the slow relaxed pace, the random roads you select, there is never any cut for the whole duration of the walk, that you never go to touristy areas. The youtube anti-shake also helps a lot. As a viewer, I feel I am floating right in the middle of the road. We get to see the world as it is with its real sounds. Even if I was in Palu, I would probably never get to experience it the way you show it. You are doing a great service to us by preserving this for future generations. Imagine a similar video of London from 1915 or 1815. Looking forward to more of your adventures.
