Downside Surprise: US Initial Jobless Claims Fall to 227,000

US initial jobless claims dropped by 5,000 to 227,00 for the week ending Aug. 31. The estimate was for 230,000. Bloomberg's Michael McKee reports on how this could impact rate decisions coming from the Federal Reserve. He's on "Bloomberg Surveillance."

I do sincerely want the world's economy to become much worse than expectation. I do also hope that tonight's ISM PMI and vehicle sales will come in much weaker than forecasters anticipated.🙏☺️🤔

@@DrHughMonguscoque there’s also the thing that “bad data can influence policymakers”. If the economy is in a bad state, but the labor bureau keeps putting out “good data” and revises it later, than the Fed won’t be able to base a better decision on size of rate cuts until it’s too late.(like a frog in a slow boiling pot). On the other hand, if the report actually comes out bad, then the Fed will know they need to take action so unnecessary pain won’t have to be caused.
