I get a kick out of those comments to Mark about turning the logs to much, I worked for Weyerhaeuser as a sawmill superintendent for 5 yrs here in western Canada and I don’t think people realize how many times a log may get rotated after it’s been scammed before it goes through the canter for max yield, the canter is cutting 4 sides at once, you have to turn the log 4 times to get something you can work with.. The mill wasn’t super modern and we only produced up to 2X10, so if the cant was bigger then 10” inch it had to go though a set of parallel 12” bandsaws where the operator would turn the cant for max yield, depending on the size up to 24” it may have to go through the bandsaws again, again turned for Max yield then go through a set of gangsaws where the operator would again turn the cant, so your doing a dam fine job sir keep up the good work love the content. KZbin should have a dummy filter for the comment section lol.

I'm disabled and love to watch others do things that I used to. I would like to see what that cut-off saw is doing with some of the big wedges sometime. Been suscribed for a couple years now and was fascinated with the sawmill build, upgrades and maintenance of the bus motor and carriage. Thanks for the site!

Fast becoming a binge watcher of this channel. As an avid woodworker this is really fascinating to watch. I have a local sawmill nearby but never get to see this process for the lumber I purchase. That black oak log was a beast and turned out some REALLY nice pieces.

Remarkable degree of craft and skill in getting the most usable lumber out of that oak log! And that was some chunk of wood to be tossing around! Even with all your expertise, it always amazes me how much unavoidable waste there is in trying to make square lumber out of round trees. If trees were more obliging, the least they could do is grow themselves in a square or rectangular configuration.

Hey Mark I have an idea for the log turner name. Since the log turner is a no non sense hard working device, you could use a respectable title such as used in the military and law enforcement. The log turner could simply be LT. Such as in LT=log turner and in the spirit of rank LT= lieutenant . Anyway, you guys keep up the great work and videos. Thanks

You are a lucky man to have two hard workers like Eddie and ZZ Mark, good work guys.
