The biggest asset to conservation are hunters, those that do not hunt CAN NEVER even try to begin to understand wildlife, so should keep their ignorance to themselves, for fear of displaying it publically to the world. If you dont understand something dont start preaching about it! Very good shot and well done for bagging one of the world's mosty impressive trophies

Really Bad !!, Markhor is the national animal of Pakistan. This is an endangered species. It is really sad to see that we are letting people shoot this majestic animal for just entertainment purposes. Hunting animals of any endangered species should be stopped immediately.

It is better for the population as a whole when animals can bring in money from hunts. Once a species has a demand to be hunted then the population can be managed easier thus insuring their survival.

@@lazorplayz4556 100,000 dollars for foreigners basically. Also Pakistan earn almost 5 million dollars from ibex and Markhor trophy hunting last year which is quite good the money goes to the local communities that protect these majestic animals always have thier eyes on Markhirs safety and never let any poachers to get into thier habitats. That's the reason why Markhors are thriving thier population is on a constant rise they were left 100 in 1980s now 5000+ in chitral and almost 2000 in Giglit baltistan 3000 in Chiltan national park as well

The prices for Markhor in Pakistan are depending on biding. Few years ago, service was 5000$ and licences 10 000$, today prices can go from 50000 to 100000$ and more. It is crazy because only "collectors" are able to pay that huge price today. They are no more sportmen, only collector for their trophy room. They are asking to local (or to me) to go hunting for them. Like people who are buying "picasso". It is not good for future of sport hunting.

Not bad. But rally efficient. We foreigners hunters save the Markhor from local destruction with Kalachnikov. In giving valuable throught trophy hunting near local population, we save the Markhor. From 300 markhors in Thorgar in 1985, we do a verey strong conservation and now population of Sulaiman Markhor is more 2000 ! Just in hunting from 2 to 6 old (Trophy) male Markhor every year. You can get confirmation of this fact from WWF Pakistan. Trophy hunting is the best for conservation !

On those project hunters are working with WWF International. If we stop trophy hunting, all will be poached. 100%

Have you been there ? Take a plane (at your charge) and come to visit the places where Markhor are living, in Pakistan and Tadjikistan. I will personnally guide you and show you that with the help of the sportmen, there is much more Markhors today than 20 years ago. You probably look too much at the TV and listen "specialists" who stay in big hotels and afraid to go deep in Nature. Trophy hunting is the best for conservation. Even WWF and UICN agree with that. Sorry but it is true.

@cardude1992 First say thanks to hunters (not to poachers) because it is only because of hunters activities that there is still Markhors in wildlife today and population is 10 time more than 20 years ago. Second : to be able to kill or not ? It is a difficult question. But I do not ask you to kill. So do not try to stop me. Or give exemple and stop to eat meat,even green vegetable who are alive too.

Markhor is very expensive how much you pay for it in 2010. I hear now in 2016 is 100000 US-$ for 1 Markhor Hunter.
@seladang8 жыл бұрын
Yes it is very expensive in Pakistan today. But too much expensive so only few hunters are able to pay so huge amount. For sure it's help the communities, but rapidly there will be no more hunters able to come in Pakistan. When Markhor population go higher, it is necessary to push the prices low and to get an equilibrate between number of old Markhors males to hunt and money income.
