When you pivot you: a) Have an extra thing to concentrate on in the act of pivoting etc. b) Have to be observing and reacting to what the mark is and is not guarding. c) Haven't got your eyes still to get the best possible (unchanging) field of vision. d) Will have movement from the mark across your field of vision.

Nice video. Can you give an idea what a good distance between thrower and marker would be? You explain that by dropping back in the triangle, the marker has more time to cover a wider angle. So what is the reason for regaining position? There are disadvantages to being too close and too far away. If you could explain those quickly, that'd be great.

Chris Rapson it’s sorta a figurative for yourself but I’d actually advise you to mark them from a max distance of 2&1/2 to 3 feet. Rational being, (like the video says) it lets them pointlessly pivot, also (especially for beginners) standing like 2-3 feet away creates the illusion of invincibility for the marker which makes it seem you can block their every throw. Versus If you stand like 1 foot away or less, they can see more windows of opportunity for them to throw around you.

actually used it to design better "Single Swing" Zone O. Right angle= MM to Swing, Side OPP = MM to Thrower 18 yards+/-). Disc flies hypotenuse (30=/-) faster than MM runs side adjacent 24 +/-. disc arrives @ Swing w/ 3O VS 1D player until MM arrives (3+ seconds). Start far backhand sideline, use entire width of field. Crash-cup (FAKE) to freeze MM. aftr swing 3-v-1, look for Crash midfield in front of Eye of God (DEEP) BH-side Wing takes EOG deep. Result = 1-2 man advantage up sideline to goal

How do you stop the shown throw but still keep the force? I feel like I lose it
@danielroach9139

I have a question, What if the shown throw is the throw that your team has decided to force? For example, if the shown throw is a forehand and your team is forcing forehand. Would you only take away the the break side of the forced throw not it completely?

Daniel, I know that with teams I have played on, there is a delicate balance. You're correct in thinking that you don't want to over commit to taking away the shown throw in the direction you are forcing, leaving the break side wide open. We call it "Flashing," where the objective is to allow that throw to the break side, but to "Flash" a little into that throwers lane in order to delay the throw. If it's a deep throw, then we want to force that deep throw (even into the force) to come out wide and blady, not flat or I/O. Every team is different, however, and it comes down to your team objectives.

This is great. But if i have to be critic, i would only say that putting an example of a lefty, or forcing backhand would have been even more helpful.

Nice work with these videos, they are done with a professional feel that I wasn't expecting. The free preview has almost certainly convinced me to buy the full product. About the marking philosophy. It's not obvious to me why pivoting prevents a thrower from looking down field. Without turning his back to the field (bad pivoting), why can't a thrower continue to look down field while pivoting?
@tusharjamwal

they can, but it's stressful, if someone was marking me like this I don't think I could get a good throw out
@eastjones
@eastjones 11 жыл бұрын
you can look you can't throw so half your time you aren't in position to throw & D only has to stop key moments.while pivoting = longer to throw & more off balance & susceptible to poaches and baits by D. Instead of BH/FH pivot, fake I/O under, hammer over & full-step,stay on flick side & use shoulders to move mark-then take his space. best I/O throw for the type cut here is to fake low I/O & throw lefty high release over arm Thrower use angle of step (half-pivot) to move marker over open I/O

works well, unless the handler has a strong hammer. Then, this technique seems to be not as effective. Great video!

Hey y'all, please take comments in context, this is a good video, imho & is good coach, w/many good ideas here. I am highly advanced level Passer & Strategist my comments ADD TO his strategies here, not take away (eg: Triangle Mark concept = solid , if high left hand can't stop real I/O, change D strategy if facing it, use Triangle in combo w/other Thrower-specific marks like Low Left w/Monty (Python) -"No Man Shall Pass" (to Break).These are good ideas drills & building blocks,not hating at all

I'm sorry, this is nicely done video, not trying to be mean, but a high left hand cannot stop a real I/O flick it is wide open against that mark. you beat Mark with feet, step up field + across the left leg of Mark + reduce angle of disc flight to body + you throw from under and beyond the mark's left arm. + turn to face marker on his shift to open I/O space + force marker back. There is good stuff here + he's probably a good coach too, but needs to rethink that. (J.R. 5 time USA Masters Team)
