Before 1941, many of the WW2 combat photographers started out as newspaper photographers or documentary cameramen. They captured America’s current events and social issues on film and those images were then distributed to the public via newspapers and magazines. During World War II, these same professional photographers put on a uniform and traded the safety of home life for the dangers on the battlefield.
Here are three notable war correspondents who documented World War II events, capturing powerful and iconic images that became synonymous with the era - Robert Capa, Joe Rosenthal and Margaret Bourke-White.

That's true; however, their valiant efforts were betrayed and exploited to undermine the country, the culture, the heritage they fought for.
