You can tell it was one of the studios early games, because of how many times Mark didn't know what to do, and mechanics not working correctly.

What happened was this: outlast 2 ended up being too much chasing without leaving time to think or look around, so the developers released an update (after mark's playthrough) to make it a little less of a rush to go through. Yes, scare is good, but if you can't even focus on finding the right way because you're not left the time to, it will make the player feel frustrated easily for *hours*, which explains some of the bad reviews this game got in the beginning.

You are right Markimoo, what you said about the ending with the facilities and the lights doing psychological screw ups ro people's minds is all true. And it's proven in some of both the first/DLC documents anddd in a paper you find somewhere in the second game pointing to that conclusion. It makes sense. The facility or facilities are putting out those lights/psychological waves which is screwing with everyone's minds, including Blake's. Explaining why he's jumping from "reality" to memories of sorts but are altered.
