The most genuine acting and writing I've seen in a Supermassive game

Out of all the games from Supermassive I've played, House of Ashes may have the best characters out of all of their games. Paul Zinno and Nick Tarabay's performance was a stand out out of the whole cast and the writing is probably the best I've seen in a Supermassive game even with the crazy shit going on in the game.
If you were interested in these games and could only go with one, House of Ashes is my recommendation.

I think Salim and Jason are probably the best characters in all the franchise. Paul Zinno and Nick Tarabay deserve a mention to their perfomance, cause it´s really outstanding. They absolutely carried the weight of the game effortesly, and making the rest of the characters pretty expendables in comparison. I´m a complete sucker for these two.

Yeah, the writing in House of Ashes surpasses even Until Dawn in many ways. No doubt these guys carried the game to the finish line.

@@R6GOATR4C I havent played Until Dawn cause its a PlayStation exclusive and I play on pc. Anyway, I admit I am a Jason fangirl. His development through the game is my favourite, and I really love the person he becomes at the very end. Besides, that southern accent its unbeatable 🤣🤣

Yes! They showed a bunch of scenes that Ashley Tisdale shot, so they should definitely show this one too.

@@sidneycage22 That's because Ashley Tisdale did motion capture and landed her voice for the role. Same can't be said for the other characters in the game as mocap and voice acting was done by different people for the rest of the cast.

@@R_YumadYou’re actually wrong there. Ashley Tisdale lended her likeness, voice and performed Mocap. The rest of the actors, whilst their likeness isn’t used, they still lend their voice and perform mocap for the game. They cycle a bunch of likenesses from models. The actors just bring those character models to life.

The other games usually don’t give the characters enough time to show any real emotion since the story needs to continue, but this game lets the characters develop by giving them the time needed to create relationships and show genuine emotion. Despite not being as scary I think this is one of the better written games they made in terms of the characters.

Honestly, this game made me a fan of Paul Zinno now lol. Even from the beginning of the game, there was something about his performance as Jason that seemed so REAL to me, while sometimes some of the lesser-known actors in this series' cast can sound a bit iffy. Following his character and watching Jason's development was so rewarding, and it was awesome to see his natural chemistry with Nick Tarabay as Salim. Hands down my two favorite characters in the whole anthology so far.

Yep, their chemistry was right on the spot. And to me felt even more intense than with Nick. Dont get me wrong, I lovee the acting of Moe Jeudy Lamour, he did pretty well, but the development of Nicky was weird at some point, there were some moments pretty OOC for him. But Jason was on another level with Salim. Wish we could see those 2 acting together again sometime. I even got a tattoo of them, cause I think they gave us something worty of being remembered

Jason and salim were the diamonds in the rough that is the dark pictures anthology. These were the only two characters in the series where i said "they HAVE to live".

Agreed! This scene gets to me everytime and honestly, it's the best acting I've seen in any game I've ever played. That "What the fuck?" Jason says at the end, the way he says it kills me because you can hear the pain in his voice. 🥺

The story arc of these two made a good game at least 2x better. Very good writing and the acting just put the icing on the cake. I didn't play the game but rather watched a playthrough and it was better than most movies I'd seen in a while. I immediately felt invested in the fates of these two. Especially once they started working together. Hats off to the writers and actors. Well done. They still remain my two favorites out of all the other Dark Pictures games.

What about that time in Man of Medan where Joey said "yeah, you said it FUBAR and then some" that line almost brought a tear to my eye you could feel the sadness behind his voice as he realized his friends like Chuck were probably dead. You can hear he is trying to act strong but in reality he is scared to be dead knowing his family will never see him again

@@_mynameiskira_ Ah, I felt that way with the ending I got in The Quarry. 😂 The Devil In Me was actually really good, in my option. It had a lot of twists and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole game. I would definitely recommend playing it. You'll probably laugh your ass off when you see Jason's model in it. 😂

As much as I love Salim, gotta disagree with House of Ashes being the only recommendable one of the bunch. Firstly, Until Dawn & The Quarry are just far better games in general, with the choices, story etc. Then, there’s obviously The Devil In Me which is out now
