That's why I think Scott, especially with the books and Help Wanted True Ending, he's been leaning more into dread and disturbing feats as opposed to raw fear. The story of kids being brutally murdered, people self harming themselves, manipulation, and other things are much more effective at making players feel unease now

I doubt anyone will see this but I was never a fnaf or markiplier kid, but I was always at least aware of the games and the living tombstone songs. I started this playlist after seeing the fnaf movie and having my friends argue lore references and plot points as I drove everyone back to campus wishing I had at least the smallest bit of knowledge of what they were saying. It has a few snippets but it doesn't really give us anything new. Context clues tell us that this game is William Afton's personal hell, having him deal with the consequences of his actions in the form of the animatronics he caused to become haunted and terrorize night guards and kill the phone guy (who is also here for revenge!). We get that the soul inside of Chica (Susie) was the first to be killed. And "the one you should not have killed" is the soul of the child who hated Afton the most, existing inside of Golden Freddy...and not yet at rest with the others.

Of course, they're all pretty vengeful because of the pain Afton caused them, and might as well torture him a bit, but at least some of them don't seem to be here on their own accord. According to Withered Bonnie, this place isn't just a prison for Afton, but for himself as well. The Puppet's motives seem to just be to guide and protect their friends through the afterlife, they even remind Afton a few times that they don't hate him. What would they get out of staying in this place full of hate and memories? And Mr. Hippo seems confused as well. He mentions that doesn't know how or why he got into this place, and thinks it's some kind of dream. I might be wrong, but it seems as if the child in Golden Freddy didn't just trap Afton, but all the souls existing in the other animatronics as well. Though I guess that wouldn't explain the duplicates, considering both Springtrap and Scraptrap exist in this place as well. And if you add the player being Afton then... oh boy, that's a lot of Williams.

This doesn't have to be realistic, even within tge universe, since it's an afterlife. Hell, even Afton is here to torture Afton. Also, I think only Golden Freddy's spirit is actually there, it just makes Afton see the others. It haas been said that the others have found peace, so I don't think they would leave peace to torment someone.
