Simple, white walls reflect light, its why hospitals use white walls. Dark walls absorb light. And if you buy flashlights, you learn real quickly the difference between a flashlight that produces a narrow beam, flood beam, or a combination of the two. I have a Nitecore EC4 flashlight, which would do well in a real life survival situation onboard that station.

Ehhh... no. That was easily the worst part about the game. 100's of other people on the station and your ass is the only one that it's up the entire time? That alone ruined the immersion. Stack that on top if it teleporting to and fro and you get Alien Isolation... a game that should be scary and tense, but isn't because AI both doesn't make logical sense and breaks the rules. 2 cardinal sins in a survival horror.

Despite not finishing the game yet (in fact, only just started. I'm not much farther than Mark is at this point in the series) I've watched like, all of the developer stuff on KZbin about Isolation. Can we just appreciate for a moment, that they bugged Fox until they actually got Fox to send over the original fucking SOUND EFFECTS from the original movie? They had the rights to use the original music, AND all the official audio files for the original sound effects. They even used the 'space whale' sound effect throughout the game (the sound used during the initial "Alien" title sequence in the movie). Like, ignoring the fact that the game itself is fucking amazing, we need to appreciate how accurate it was. Like... they made new concept art for the game based off the original movie concept art, so the art itself would have a similar look and feel. They used the original movie sound effects and music. They used the original consistancy photos of the actors to make the character models for the preorder addon. They sat and studied the fuck out of the highest quality pictures they could get to get all the lighting as close to the movie as possible. They had actual legitimate blueprints of the ship from the original movie to make a 1/1 replica in-game for that addon dlc. The amount of work they put into this game to make it as accurate to the source material as possible is fucking amazing. You can just tell that the people working on this game were fans of the original movie and really wanted to make something good for the fans (and themselves). It wasn't just a cash grab like some other Alien games out there, made by people that probably didn't care much about the movie and just wanted to make a quick buck. These people obviously cared as much as we do. It's just a shame you don't get that quality in other companies. Every so often you get a company, or even a single indie dev, that makes something that they put their entire heart into, and it almost always shows.

That was likely meant to be a big flag for players that, hey, this thing uses the vents! Be wary about the vents! So that players would be forewarned for the next section where you're properly facing and evading the Xenomorph.

38:00 - I still think about this moment a lot. If the music hadn't shifted, Mark would never have realized the Xenomorph was on the other side of that door. He may not have even heard the thing scream if he'd gone straight into the elevator. If Mark had been there, in-universe, in Ripley's place, he would have had NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT HAPPENED RIGHT BEHIND HIM, and he probably would just have stood in the elevator for a minute like "So where is he???" and then likely lost patience and gone down without him when he didn't show. It's moments like this that make me realize people being dumb/imperceptive/blind in horror films is only frustrating to watch because we as the audience are _aware_ of the danger -- whereas the characters themselves, are all just like Mark. And maybe that's why I like watching him play horror games like this so much - he's NOT always totally dialed-in. There are some moments where he has the situational awareness of a flashbanged bat and the coordination of half-melted cheese. But that's what makes him so relatable and amusing, watching him occasionally just _bumble_ his way through these terrifying scenarios, and occasionally lock in and _get dangerous._ In many ways, Mark _is_ a horror-film protagonist. It's something worth thinking about.

I love how this A.I. *genuinely* tracks the player. When A.I.s are made like this one - in a way that makes them FEEL like a real threat - it always excites me. I can’t describe it. I think that the fact that the Xenomorph feels like an actual predatory animal is just so thrilling because the devs succeeded in making something that feels *alive*. It’s a *huge* accomplishment for any artist for their art to literally come to life in not only their mind, but the minds of their audience. It kinda feels like you’re in a zoo watching a real animal living out its life. Makes me want to play the game so bad!

yeah the dev's did a good job with the A.I. for sure. I've played it and was thinking of playing again. I watched TONS of Markiplier's videos when I was playing the first time. I needed all the help I could get LMAO. He's funny anyway! It is an older game but is really great. Has multiple add ons available also. I wish these companies would make remastered version as tech has changed quite a bit. Anyway, I loved it.

I like how when the alien first jumped down after mark complained about his bullets disappearing, he looked up at it, legit stared for a second, and then reacted with panic at the same time the alien realized he was there. In my head it goes alien pops down, Mark looks at alien, alien looks at mark, that sight gag of the 3 dots show up between the two of them and then they realize both at the same time “OH RIGHT I forgot to react! I've played this entire game. You have to walk slowly and quietly and running is very bad since the alien will hear you. Also, holding up the sensor thingy also makes noises which attracts the alien. Also, the alien lurks in the vents and stalks you, so you need to also be aware of the ceiling vents.

Few tips: 1) Don't run when the alien is nearby!!! It hears you that's why it catches you so often. Crouching and walking are the best solutions... Running is only good when you're sure this damn alien is somewhere far away!! 2) Look around often to collect maps and blueprints, don't ignore them. 3) Don't hide in the vents for a long time, the alien will surely meet you there. 4) The alien can't see but it can hear you pretty damn well, so when you don't have a hidden place around you, just try to stay still ^^

The Alien may not have eyes(or visible eyes), but I am pretty sure it can see. I thought it was blind, too, until I was hiding under a distant table fairly far from the Alien, staying perfectly still, and when it turned my way, immediately ran and attacked me. Sure, it's easy to get by if your staying still in the periphery of the alien. But if it faces directly at you, it can see you(sometimes even if you're hiding).

Still the best thing to do is hide in lockers or try not to make noise at all. Oh and yes it happened to me before that the alien got me in the locker i was hiding. I think this was because i was hiding way too much so the alien was smarter than i thought :P

45:20 That ladder is one of the very few places where the alien can’t get you 😂 I remember sitting on it for awhile to recoup and relax. Also when you were going for Morellys body, there’s that small room that Mark didn’t enter at 34:07 Inside is a require box that lets you disable the door. There’s another door but it has a lock on it that you unlock with your tool. If you don’t unlock it and you disable the other door there is no vent in there and you are safe. The alien literally can’t get in. I even made so much sound in there. You can hear the alien freaking out but he can’t get in. Another place I freaked out and had to calm down for a bit haha

4 Things you should know about the Xenomorph: 1: You can't trap it in Doors. It can unlock them... Somehow... 2: You can't tun from it when it sees you. You can only get away from that using a Flamethrower. 3: It has no Walk Patterns, it can deviate when it wants to. 4: The developers tried to make the Alien seem like an actual living creature, so its AI is gonna be fucking clever.
