Thank you Mark. Great to see some photos of Jack Bycroft, Swindon's GK, I know him well from when he was on loan from Southampton to Taunton Town Fc. Looks like he had a challenging game.

Another great video Mark. Love using remotes in my work, shooting pro hockey in Canada. Hope you get a chance to shoot Portsmouth some time as I’m a Pompey lad 😉👍

A remote camera is good to use, but extra work. Get to the site early for setup and testing. Above all make sure all cameras are set to the exact time and second or you will have created photos scattered when culling. Regarding the focus issues on the Canon 400mm, even after Canon serviced it. I have the EF V2 400mm and there were rare times when the autofocus stalled on my 1DX2. I upgraded to Canon R3s and still had the same issue, so the RF adapter is totally transparent. I also found this true with the Canon EF 70-200mm 2.8. I did discover that there are rare times that the camera is unable to back button trigger the lens to focus. I learned that when this happens is to turn the lens focus turret a slight turn (as if to manually focus) and all is well again. A kind of a fluke where the camera's AF system is unable to reset the focus if beyond the lens AF limits until manually turning the focus turret. I also avoid pressing the BF button when bringing the camera down to close to the turf as that will force the AF to try to focus on a surface that's too close in distance and seems to jam the AF operation, but not always. I can assure you that if your lens is BF normally, all is okay.

Mark, your photos in this video as well as other videos recently have the right side of the screen cut off. We cannot read some of the camera settings including what camera is being used. There is plenty of blank space on the left side to move the screen over a bit. Can you adjust that?

Mmmmmmmm?!? I’ve noticed this too, even after I’ve corrected it in my editing software! I think I’ve found the problem, the settings had somehow been changed for video!! Hopefully this week should be fine👍🏻

Quick question are you triggering the remotes with your main body every frame or triggering them independently when you think there is some potential?
@MarkKerton7 ай бұрын
Triggered off my 70-200 Nigel. Whenever it fires, the remotes fire👍🏻

regarding the focus locking up, not sure if that is at all related, but I used to have my R6 with canon's EF 70-200 just completely lock up on me in electronic shutter mode, I tried many solutions available on the web, but none of them fixed it, the only thing that actually worked was to switch the camera into airplane mode (or use elec 1st curtain/fully mech), someone mentioned that if there's many wifi/bluetooth devices around, it can lead to this issue. I recall it never happened anywhere but on the pitch. I assume you use wired connection and/or don't need wifi/bt on at that time, and if so, perhaps try that, apparently this could also happen on R5, so other R bodies might also be affected.

Had you the 400mm on the R3 Mark by any chance when it refused to focus? My EF200-400 does it intermittently on the R3 and I'm thinking its something to do with the contacts on the EF-R adapter as a slight turn of the lens either way seems to kick it back into life.

Totally wrong of the Sun to move the ball. I provided images for the Sunday Sun in Newcastle for about 20 years and the sports editor there was really strict about honesty in sports images. If an image wouldn’t fit the pre-planned space then another would need to be found. I used to ask what the dimensions of the image space was before sending and then supply ready cropped pics for the editor to choose. Manipulation like they have done with yours Mark means none of the images the Sun produce can be trusted and it suggests cheating is an acceptable practice. I didn’t read what the Sun had to say about the royal image manipulation but I bet they called it out for what it was… oh hang on… Just looked up what the Sun royal photographer said…”He told The Sun: "It’s a golden rule that while you can crop a picture, you never, ever interfere with the image itself."

Moving the ball. Ethics? Come on. Todays papers could care less.
